    When scraping the old gasket off use a shop vacuum at the same time and scape the crap right into the vacuum!

    I know its a bit of extra effort but opening up the ring gaps on these motors really helps to stop the pistons giving up on life under boost.

      Any boosted engine should have a 16 thousandth to 20 thousandth ring gap. If I remember correctly.

    Hey mate just my 2c but a better way to clean the head/block in my experience is red scotch brite and crc spray works just as good as the stone and also had no chance of gouging anything out if needing to work in a single spot

    • @boostedbuiltgarage
      @boostedbuiltgarage  6 років тому +1

      Yeah Scotch Brite is great but it's always good practice to use something flat that spreads the load over a bigger area, to not overly concentrate in one area and risk any high or low spots. For the cast iron block I doubt that'd be a problem. It also shows you where any high/low spots are using a stone.

      @@boostedbuiltgarage where can I get one of these stones and what exactly are they called again

    • @boostedbuiltgarage

  • @johnwagner4559

    Scotchbrite is ur friend instead of a $60 block of whatever it is. That block ur using is dangerous man! Felpro gaskets are the best.

  • @sixstanger00
    @sixstanger00 6 років тому

    Just a little nit picking -- when using a torque wrench, it's recommended not to clasp the socket end hard and/or hold it tightly. This puts additional resistance on the socket and will give you a false reading.

    • @boostedbuiltgarage
      @boostedbuiltgarage  5 років тому +1

    If nothing else breaking the last motor is a good opportunity to make more vids. When i use mls gaskets i always re torque them a second time( unless they are torque to yeild) ive found on tractor engines you can sometimes get as much as a quarter turn out of them from the gasket squashing after a heat cycle, yours are used so probably not much squish going on there but if it was me id check a second time

      The LN3 is in the VN-VG. L27 is VN series 2 to VR I'm pretty sure.

    • @boostedbuiltgarage
      @boostedbuiltgarage  6 років тому +1

      Not that I'm aware of. No issues for me... Just follow the torque sequence, torque in several stages and have true, flat deck surfaces

    • @tezzrterry7485

      80ft lbs seems high for a nut on stud. Bolts are that high, but a stud is usually a lot lower, because it's not stretching a bolt.
