Wow! All in one day/time. I’m a handyman and this would’ve taken me 2 minimum mostly 3 customer visits. Now I know I can patch/prep opening in 1 visit, come back next day to final sand and prime. It’s all about using the right products and techniques. Thank you!
Thank you for the videos. I'm very new to drywall. I've only seen about 20 of your videos so far. I work as a sub for a remodeler. So, for drywall seams and joints you always prefill them with durabond 20, press on the tape, put another thin coat of the same durabond on the tape. Now how long do you have to wait before putting on the easy sand 5? Also, why are the types of muds/ compounds any different on a patch job then on a whole house job?
You always want to wait until the 20 is set before you put your five on and I use 20 and 5 on patches because I don't want to come back three or four times with a house I come back 4 x at least. With patches I'm sanding the next day
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 Great. Now on a big house job will you still use the Durabond 20 and easy sand 5? With the main difference being that you just don't do it all in the same day? Or what compounds are you using on the big jobs? Thank you very much.
You don't think I never did as a plasterer with the mud on the floor Ray ??? Many many more times than I care to say ! Ha Ha Ha !!! Keep up the great videos !
Hey thanks for the reply. That makes sense but then my next question is, with your skill level and speed why not the easy sand 5 for both applications?
Beginner here, great videos. I'm filling in a door also and my wall has a 1/16 hard coat (not sure what) so my fill in drywall won't be flush. Will this technique work to make up the diff? Thanks
I'm just curious why you like plus 3 over topping? Just a personal preference? Also, will easy 20 work to put the mesh on instead of durabond if that's all you have? Thank you

Great videos...thanks for all the info. Just curious...what would a repair like this cost from start to finish?
Just that one doorway I probably would have charged 200 $250 but I had a lot more work than that there
The easy sand/hit mud is actually a string prefill mud, so why and/or is it really necessary to use durabond?
It's not I just like it because that's what I've been using for 40+years easy sand didn't exist then. Real durabon is still harder though.
I think we need a video of the doc using a hawk and trowel!!
No not that!!!
I think it would make a great video!! Keep up the good work
Turn out looking good man
Thank you. Exactly the video I needed.
Edge burner at his best

Roller Coastery👍. My walls look like that. LOL
Awesome thank you !
Love your videos. It is a joy to watch someone that is skilled at their job!
How come you use durabond 20 for taping, and easy sand 5 for the 1st coat? What is the reason for switching between the 2?
Hey thanks for the reply. That makes sense but then my next question is, with your skill level and speed why not the easy sand 5 for both applications?
The Drywall Doctor that makes sense. Thanks for the reply, and thanks for all the great videos.
Is there any particular way to hold a blade against the wall
Just constantly use the same side against the wall. It will put a good sharp edge on it. And you will be able to tell.
Very good videos man god bless u with a lot more work ,,,um learning alot, thanks to your helpful videos
How would I go about fixing cracking in my flat seams? Previous guy used mesh on the flats and I have cracks all over the house? Thanks!
The Drywall Doctor could I possibly just tape over the existing mesh? Or should I cut it out and prefill with durabond? Thanks for all the help!
The Drywall Doctor thanks! Love the videos, great teacher!
I was told that you hold the side to the wall that is round in the horseshoes side faces you
Why do I still see people taping without filling the gap with Durabond?

Thanks, what about large patch on ceiling 30" wide by 15' long, same ?
These videos are awesome
mui vueno amigo
Hey Doc, in regards to a hawk and trowel, that's all we use here, I can't use a knife and pan for the life of me lol. Great video!

ALL compounds regardless of the brand will work. I've used plus3 and durabond, I'm mixed both. Same results
If that was the only repair on the job, I wouldn't have taped the angle. That way they wouldn't have to paint he ceiling.
Ceiling had patches all over it
When you are just doing a patch, do you worry about dust control when you sand? Do you have some kind of equipment for that or not necessary? Thanks
Union painter 💪🏼
You do alot of wiping.....un necessary wiping.....😝👎
