  • @adarsharao
    @adarsharao 5 років тому +73

    I am not sure on what basis the interviewer is saying different classes of society did not have access to bodies of knowledge. Basaveshwara spread vedic knowledge to masses. In Karnataka people from all castes have written highly philosophical works. Ramanuja and Madhwacharya initiated lower caste people as brahmins. Kanakadasa was a Shepard, Sarvajna was from lower caste. A beggar on the street defeated Adi Shankara in philosophical argument. Vidyaranya, a brahmin helped hakka and bukka establish Vijayanagar empire but they were Shepherds.... every village will have one such story to tell.. But you won't know it by swallowing some communist garbage and puking it in public...

    • @nupurkhare7941
      @nupurkhare7941 5 років тому +1

      adarsha rao she doesn’t need basis apparently, the entire interview process seems to suggest, she has just browsed through some criticisms of Hinduism and didn’t make an effort to do any research, because she agreed with that side of the argument... seeking validation for one’s prejudices is what media has been reduced to today...

    Sadhguru says a beautiful thing about questioning (since i don't remember the exact words, i am trying to portray the meaning), it should not be to put down the other or having already decided on something but should come out of curiosity. Devdutt hit the nail on the head when he said you are not curious instead judgemental. Therefore, if Shoma conducts an interview even the day after, she will still have the same questions. The whole point of a debate is to change our views if the other person can convince us. This is lacking in all our discussions. Both the parties have their views and are hell bent not to be convinced. Further, Devdutt makes a clear distinction between ill-informed interpretation and informed interpretations

    Can you two talk and make up please ? Your articulation in above talk completely absolves you of any citicism and i was struggling with how to articulate this and your talk hit the spot right on. Mr Rajiv malhotra should hear this and I am a fan of his to except when he becomes pugilistic unnecessary and would be great for you to meet in a civil setting and pool your ideas adn thoughts. For the sake of India it will be truly epic and benefit India.

      Dp is primary ryhme type while RM is a University unto himself.. How can they even be in the same bracket.. DP is sold out, brown sepoy of like of w doniger.. RM is a scholar.. Into deep research with dedication, not doing for career but dharma..How can we compare the two.

    • @suerayss
      @suerayss 5 років тому +3

      @@sinara2 Those are all too subjective and honestly getting too personal in criticism. DP maybe self-taught and one needs to respect all types of scholars. If RM and DP cannot talk civily then both don't deserve to be called scholars. Its a sign of hubris and ahankar if criticism become visceral like this. They are not the same and honestly as a fan of both I refuse to be dragged into political camps..I am not a psychophant but I am so impressed with both when they talk. Both have spent years reading and studying.
      They could be in completely different planes but that is the beauty of the indian system. They have rights to intrepret and present and deserve to be respected. I hate mud-slinging and crass personalization or labelling. RM and another guy criticizes DP as anti-brahmin but in this talk he talks about brahminism wonderfully. As a audience lets be objective and not get carried away in the poison of the venom. Lets keep it civil and not get personal.

    Interestingly this time our beloved Shoma prepared with few questions that have been debated by our communists, evangelists and rationalists to negate our history. She is always trying to target all the people who working to bring back our true past (even targeting an individual by calling NRI) such a vindictive manner. Not sure what all these people want our India to be or our culture to be.
    Devdutt ji really open up their falsified beliefs by answering and challenging every of wrong perception of them. Wonderful job sir...all respects to you.
    As you know, our approach is to unfold wisdom by debate, discussions (eg: Shankara, Ramanuja, Madhwacharya etc) and improving ones interpretations, so there is nothing wrong in disagreements from other scholars. At the end of the day, we wanted to reach truth.

    DP is probably the first guest of SC who shone light on her shallow knowledge about her own roots who always puts Hindu society in bad light.
    He said each and every society has good and bad, but in SC’s closed mind Hindus were bad, still bad until Moguls and Christian conquered them. It is amazing there are people like her have a big mice who still are not decolonized, yearning for a foreign ruler and concepts. Social media is the answer for a person to figure out.

    *Quality* conversation worth listening for a perspective on so commonly (mis)used ideas! Devdutt's clarity of thought and expression is brilliant 👍 One thing would've liked clarified: he starts off with "equality" as a western idea that homogenises (in an inferior sense), only to come back to it later as a higher level of spiritual index (what is the "meaning" of this equality if it is not homogeneity ?) in Hinduism..
