6:19 So the developers know that they need to use fake company names to avoid possible trouble with companies that they are spoofing, Yet they seem to forget that using actual direct game artwork is arguably gonna get them in more trouble with said companies, plus actual game cutscenes and audio. I remember this is Konami that is willing to send DMCA's to P.T. fan games.
My cat is very inspired by your playing style, Chris. We all returned home after a long time abroad, and the first thing he did when let out of his carrying case, was go to the entrance door and try to open it. I could hear the "Can I leave?" in my head!
Volume 1 was quirky, a bit scary, and just an all around good game. I was so stoked to see volume 2 already done and ready to play....sadly we spoke too soon....maybe next time they'll take a bit longer to make not only the game is mostly bug free, but also has a decent storyline cause these all seemed rush.
Yeah what was the main storyline? How are they the same person? Time traveling or their souls split into two. And the original person was one bring? I need to rewatch it
Every single one of the games was actually a really good premise. There was just a pay off missing. Like a chase scene for the first one. A stealth section for the second one. A fight your way out section from the third one.
That mother/daughter zombie in a lighthouse story was actually the storyline of another indie game relatively recently... Like the past couple years. I can't remember the name, but it's after the dad finally decides to stop this life and hangs himself in the lighthouse.
This, and the motel game took a lot of its premise from Fears to Fathom's newest chapter, AND I swear I've seen a better and bigger indie horror reminiscent of the quarantine game as well. In general, it looks like they heavily reused popular concepts from the past ~year and only vaguely made an attempt to add their own spin. Really disappointing.
No you're right because I remembered someone playing it. I wonder if it was made by the same company & they're just reusing it. If they are; they could have added some new stuff or made it later then the original game
@@jeremyhall2727 yeah, it felt super anticlimactic. As soon as they said he had a wedding ring, paired with the name of the game being lighthouse, it was completely spoiled. What a shame.
I’d have to agree with you, Chris. This was definitely a let down compared to volume 1. The first volume was just more cohesive thematically and still retained my interest through to the end. Just like you mentioned, this was a bunch of good ideas but they never were fleshed out all the way. Errors and bugs aside, the last game just stuck out like a sore thumb because it didn’t have anything in common with the other three games besides that gas station.
So Volume 1 had you watch VHS Tapes and each Segment pretty much had you do some game-like stuff, while Volume 2 has you play Video Games and each Segment was pretty much short walking sims they might as well be short films.
That lighthouse game seems eerily familiar. I believe a game in one of the HauntedPS1 jams had the exact same story. Edit: Right, it's "Real Stories from the Grave Episode 1: The Body" which was indeed in a HPS1 game jam back in April 2020.
I feel like the first one did really well, and to capitalize upon that success the developer felt like they needed to get a sequel out ASAP. So they just threw this together haphazardly over the course of a week. It is really inferior to the first one in just about every way. A shame. If they had just taken time to do a proper sequel they would have still been able to capitalize on the first one, and build a strong reputation. Instead it feels like they are just in it to make as much cash as fast as possible.
Everyone is being really polite about this, which says a lot for your community, but it needs to be bluntly said; this volume was a ripoff of other games and at best was a collection of stolen cakes with different frostings added to cover it so it could sell. I watch a lot of horror content and there is absolutely a game about the lighthouse with the exact same premise, the quarantine game reminds me of one I'm pretty sure you played but perhaps it was on a "3 Scary games" video done by someone else, and the video game one just felt like that game where you have to kill people and feed the hole - mouth thingy. Pizza delivery is right too. This entry knocked down my respect of this publisher by quite a lot and they don't deserve my doing the homework to check, so I'll just say I hope they ripped of their own stuff...
This definitely felt like a collection of half finished ideas, and imo the first one was a bit on the nose, unscary, and too "quarantine/gov't bad" for my taste...
You know....Chris could make many different videos showcasing each game one at a time but instead he posts one giant 1hour video and it's MUCH appreciated!! ❤️❤️❤️
That third game was a direct rip off of another lighthouse indie horror game I have seen before. Except you feed your family then off yourself in the original.
@DuckSauce i knew it reminded me of something... so i went to look and its this one!! It's called "real stories from the grave: the body" heres the video of when cju played it: ua-cam.com/video/wMVkxqIzo8c/v-deo.html
these are absolutely fucking ridiculous but in such an endearing way. i enjoy the silly level of surrealism and genuinely had a blast, both with the goofy aspects and of course with chris’s commentary, as always. 😄
Our hoping was too high 👍🏾 yeah I didn't think about that until now. We hype it up too much. I did that too some movies. And I was so disappointed when I watch them.
I liked the chainsaw in the last game as a cue the killer was nearby, a lot more than the weird screaming of the lady from the pizza delivery game. A running chainsaw is pretty good for putting someone on edge IMO. It is a bit funny to think about this guy just walking around his house carrying an idling chainsaw though! 😆 It must stink from the gas exhaust, in my experience of going to haunted houses that have a chainsaw scare.
Well, actually I am dissappointed... the lighthouse might be from a story but reminded me too much of the other game where the protagonist is feeding his family and the bonus game...nah come on they probably could have done better 😕 at least I had over an hour CJU 😅
Yeah, the lighthouse one is basically the story of "Real Stories from the Grave" from the setting to the mother & daughter zombie. At least that game has a decent closure to it.

Generally, I am always in minority when it comes to appreciating the games or not liking some of the overrated projects, but I agree with the majority on this one being a huge miss. First of all, the quality for the Volume 2 has dropped drastically compare to Volume 1 - weird animations, stock used assets and sound effects, I mean, the first one was genuinely creepy and interesting and more edgy in a good way, while this was is dry. And I am not the one to critique other people's work, but when the developer brings an exceptional Volume one and asks you to buy Volume 2 and hypes up the game, you kind of ask for more and you are right to be asking more. Hope the developer will bring something fresh or in same quality that Volume 1 was.
Aaaaaaaand one more game, that confuses the swiss flag with the red cross :D The red cross is called that way, because it is... a red cross on white ground. The other way round it's the swiss flag. Like that: Sorry, sometimes my little know-it-all has to get out 😆
