    Wow Kelly I'm just getting back into beading and I have tons of chatons and different shaped no hole beads along with various sizes of rivolis by Swarovski, Preciosa & Chinese. This series you are doing will be perfect for me, so thank you so much Kelly I have been subscribed to your channel here for a a few years now and am glad you're still here as most things I made were from your tutorials :-)

    Those 8mm chatons are the cutest. I love the tutorial. I think it would make a lovely little ring too. Thank you.

    It would be helpful to mention that when buying chatons, they are not sold as "mm" . You need to order size SS39 to get an 8mm chaton. If you search size 8 chaton, you end up with very small rhinestones.

    Wonderful design and great instruction! FYI, if you don't have access to a proper-sized dowel, the shaft of a 8.00mm crochet hook (preferably plastic; metal could get slippery) works quite well. I imagine a similar-sized knitting needle would be good, too. (I'm not a knitter so I can't attest to the proper size).

    You can make it a stud earring also. Before you put the chaton in the bezel , put a flat cup Stud earring with the point end of the earring going through the center holt of the bezel. You can dab a bit of glue on the flat part and set your chaton in. Give it time for the glue to dry, and then finish the earring.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for discussing the difference in finished product using either ToHo or Miyuki!! Too often no one mentions the product brand just the size. And I am here to tell you there can be monumental differences or nearly none. It all depends on the project. I have over 2000 tubes of Toho as I prefer them for bead embroidery but few Miyuki's. Do you think hubby understands that I now need to buy, buy, buy Miyuki's? LOL. He does not. Thanks again for being a great beading buddy!

    these are beautiful but I am having trouble with your accent (I'm Scottish living in London so everyone has problems with mine too lol!) I'm gonna watch and sub on the strength of how lovely these are and, who knows? I may even learn a new accent...I think I will get used to it the more projects of yours I watch x (suddenly I know why other people tell me to repeat myself. ..I'f safely bet nobody else has a problem with your accent and its just karma getting me back for all the people who have been confused by my (not as lovely as yours) accent xx no offence intended I love your work xx

    Hi Kelly - I'm really enjoying this encasement series, but one thing I'm not finding is how to encase a stone that isn't round. I'm speaking particularly of a pear or teardrop-shaped stone. I hope you can address that before your encasement series is finished. Also, it would be great if you would share how to figure out the number of beads needed to encase different size stones. Thanks so much for your patient, easy to follow and understand teaching. I've learned SO much from you!!! :-)

    What is the difference between a Chaton and a rivolli?

  • @katerinareifova2879
    @katerinareifova2879 7 років тому +3

    Hi Kelly, this encasement series is gorgeous! You have mentioned the difference between Toho and Myiuki for the 15/0s. Is there any difference for the 11/0s as well?

    • @kellydale7540
      @kellydale7540 7 років тому

      Katerina Reifova yes as with the 15/0's the toho and miyuki 11/0's have size differences as well. in each project I will be telling which brands of beads that I have found to work best for the projects as it can make a big difference in the encasement outcome.

    • @katerinareifova2879
      @katerinareifova2879 7 років тому

      Thanks! I was wondering, if this RAW encasement would work with Toho 11/0s? I have understood, that you work most often with miyuki, and though I was listening carefully, I have not recognized in this video the brand for the 11/0s... And e.g. in the Bling In The New Year series you have recommended miyuki, and I achieved a better result with Toho. I know that Toho is a tiny little bit bigger, so with a bigger rivoli or chaton it might not be such a difference, and the encasement may still fit pretty well, but for the small chaton, the encasement might come out very huge, right?

    • @kellydale7540
      @kellydale7540 7 років тому

      I have used Toho seed beads for the last 8 years and still use them but have found that for the encasements miyuki seed beads have worked better. In this specific project you can use toho 11/0 and 15/0 but when tested I got the best results by using Miyuki 11/0 and 15/0

    • @katerinareifova2879
      @katerinareifova2879 7 років тому

      I have bunches of Toho and only a few of miyuki, I will give it a try with both of them :) Thank you very much, Kelly! You are gorgeous and soooo patient! :)

      karina sulger I was having the same problem. So after some experimenting I found that using Toho 11/0 instead of Miyuki works better for me and the chaton stays in place. Not sure what it is but when using both miyuki 11/0 and 15/0 chaton kept popping out. Hope that helps.
