Men's business casual is pretty easy. Fitted chinos, fitted dress shirt, and nice dress shoes. NOT COMPLICATED AT ALL! You could even dress like that for dinner or a date!
With the exception of #1, the rest of them are hardly business casual, unless by business casual we mean dressing up the casual, which is where most guys get it all wrong. In my mind, #2 onwards are simply good casual adult-ish outfits.
My business casual usually bottom always slim fit chinos ,slim fit dress shirt and dress boots....with variety of jackets like dark denim trucker, bomber and sometimes leather... 😁
Ashley Weston your the best and this is one of my favourite videos because I of the business casual and I wear a lot of business casual suits waistcoats and ties.
Hey Ashley, Heres my challenge. How would you dress a rapper like Post Malone, Lil Pump, Migos and such? And what can you say about Jerry Lorenzo’s way of fashion?
Aside from the first two outfits, the outfits are far more casual than business. And, in my opinion, if you are wearing a T shirt, it doesn’t matter what else you wear, it ain’t business.
Well, i think it is open to interpretation, as is style in general. I've never had a proper desk job in an office, but i have a passion for clothes and the way i present myself since i was a kid. Though generally i tend to dress up, of late i find myself looking for more and more comfort when picking an outfit. So this style, including chinos instead of dress pants or sneakers instead of oxfords works particularly well for me. After some experiments, i even feel comfortable pairing a polo shirt with a blazer, something that a few years back was totally out of the question. But would you look out of place wearing sneakers and a T at your prestigious law firm? probably yes and it's not recommended. So the "business" in business-casual is more a reference to the mild formality in composition, it's not replacing formal business wear anytime soon.
@@thevividend I agree with you that business casual is a dress code that affords much room for interpretation. I would add that so much of what is/is not acceptable comes down to the culture of the particular business. That makes it difficult to generalize. It just seems to me that style choices beyond the first two outfits are virtually indistinguishable from Ashley’s style choices for every day wear (which, I might add, I find to be well done and tasteful).
I kept wondering why I never bothered with navy blue chinos or trousers...after much thinking, I remember that for the most part in my elementary and high school years, we had navy blue trousers as part of our school uniform.
I love the channel and love getting ideas from your videos. One thing I can’t get with is t-shirts with dress coats. They are dress coats for a reason.
a small thing to point out: #1, the guy is not wearing chinos, just a pair of flat-front tailored trousers. and the style of the shoes is certainly not oxford, but apparently a pair of wingtip derbies.
These outfits are great. But can you do a video for outfits in warm/hot weather? I live in Arizona and it’s hot, long sleeves and jackets are not ideal in the summer months.
So Ashley, @3:46 mark -- Ryan Reynolds (third image in from then left) --> light brown shoes with a black belt??? I always though you should match your belt with your shoes. What say you?
What jacket is that last suede one? Is that a trucker style jacket? The front pockets dont have lines up and down, which looks good. Well done video Ashley.
Hi Ash, what do you think of those techy business wear from companies like MoS, Lululemon, Mizzen and Main, etc that make things like button shirts, blazers, etc but in athletic like materials?
Talked about this extensively on my private community. Long story short - not that great and they look weird. Stick to the classics and you'll look better 100% of the time.
Excellent content. Business casual is what I prefer nowadays so the video is on point. I asked another channel the same question but truly curious from your perspective if you were to have just 3 oxford button downs what colors would you choose? Personally I feel White, Blue, and Lavender would be the most essential.
Very inspiring video which gave me more ideas! Im all about suede, jackets, chukkas or Oxfords. I cant have enough of these ...Ashley, whats the difference between....business & smart casual? Keep up the great work, we love ❤️ it!
This reminds me of the SNL skit about sexual harassment where the way to avoid getting into trouble was to "be Tom Brady" except in this case the answer for smart casual is "be Ryan Reynolds." I also appreciate the subtle reference to Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place 😀
Lighter-shaded bottoms always terrify me because you never know where you end up sitting (or especially when you ride a bike) and the last thing I want is dust/durt on my ass that other people can see without me knowing. 😅
@@peterat100 the first 3 times she refers to "oxfords" in the video she is referring to Derbies on the picture of the guy. There is no ambiguity in that she is wrong.
Please RATE BTS' fashion! RM's, Jin's Jimin's,J-Hope's, Jungkook's, V'sand Suga's!!! Honestly, HOT Asian men are in the spotlight these days!!!! Especially those tall baby faced hot Korean men like Lee Minho and Gong Yoo!
I can see that but I do trust her opinions, I like to take her advice and apply it to my own style. Like for example I'm more into work wear than the clean cut suburban young professional look, so I'll pay more attention to how the garment fits and what color palettes work best.

Not to be too nit-picky. The first pair of shoes are Derbies or blushers with brogue patterning.
The first shoes are Derby’s…
You are both too precious😂
…and, right.
As Ed McMahon would have said, 'you are correcto, sir!'
Thanks for the clarification 👍
I was gonna say the same thing. I’ve watched a handful of her videos and I feel like she thinks all dress shoes are oxfords.
Yeah caught that one after it went live. I don't do the editing, so sometimes things slip through!
thank you for covering this Ashley! Long time fan who has been dying to see more content from you to help me look good at work!!!!

Smart casual 😎 imho
Correct
I agree with this!
yep
2:34 those are derbys. Possibly brogues
Try layering in the tropics. U will sweat the minute you leave home!

what would you recommend for summer business casual outfits?

Our IT office mates would consider this "casual" as something super official for sure :)
Business casual is so easy I’ve nailed it

Men are so lucky. Its so easy to dress up
this whole things looks good on tall guys and slin
Love this.
Anyone else notice the maverick suitcase looks IDENTICAL to the Carl Friedrik Pallisy briefcase. Even the strip in contrasting color…

I live in Phoenix; the only way I do business casual is with either just a linen button up or with lightweight oversized blazers
So are slim fit chinos still in or are you going to follow the more relax trend Ashley? Please advise.
Just got my first bomber jacket. I'll let you know if I win the award snappiest dresser in the office 😎

What shade of brown oxfords do you recommend dark/light? What’s your take on v neck sweaters?
Just found your channel and I love it
Can you tell me the brand that makes the Ryan Reynold's blue bomber jacket? or recommend a brand that makes it? Thanks
can you wear a polo shirt in a business casual occasion?
Some of the male celebs I like who wear good style are George Clooney, Brad pit, and Leonardo Di Caprio they all have a good sense of style.
Honorable mention: Jeff Goldblum

as long one is not fat, obese, out of shape, or a quasimodo look a like this dress up theme will be just right LOL!
Ryan Reynolds 👌 whatever he wears is spot on
Do you have a video how to style a jean/trucker jacket? I find it hard to style my bldarker blue jeans jacket..
Another great video can you do one on how to do the front tuck
Thanks Ashley!

Yup! A few years ago he threw some kudos my way in an interview.

thanks for sharing, what do you think ascot tie in casual business? is it so old fashioned.....
Way too old fashioned and costumey.
Where can I kind the best crew neck tee. I really like jcrew
"Brown oxford dress shoes"
Weren't those derbys?
In 6:20, the leather shoes looks respectable but it goes against a collarless T-shirt. Conflicting personality.
Are those actually brown high top sneakers? Anyone know who makes them?
It's a 100 degrees over here and your advice is to wear a jacket or sweater..... Guess I'll die in the heat then.
Si Puerto Rico
Good stuff

Number 1 fashion tip: Be Ryan Reynolds.
Outfit #1 isn't oxfords, they're derbies.
Ashley, you are looking fit.

look like Ryan Reynolds
A trucker shirt for business casual?! Not in Britain!
Someone been working out
Those are derby brogues, not oxfords!
uhm......those are derbies not oxfords....
you are right
@@peterat100 the first 3 times she refers to "oxfords" in the video she is referring to Derbies on the picture of the guy. There is no ambiguity in that she is wrong.
It’s not business casual, it’s more smart casual. Doing business in t-shirt or crew neck sweater is not a common practice.
For my douchey "Actually" comment of the week: #1 is wearing Derby's not Oxfords.
Anyone work remote but still dress up?
Nope. Pajamas are so much more comfortable.
Ash reagiu e botou o cropped
Wasn’t this channel in a different name before?
I guess everything looks good on Ryan Reynolds?
Step 1: Be handsome.
Those first shoes aren't Oxford, so much for being an expert
... Poor choice by my editor.
