    I went there as a scout and still have some of the crystals. I had no clue there was red burl out there. Going to have to go look for that. Definitely on my bucket list

    Can you find facet grade red beryl that way? The champagne topaz there fades to clear, but they have a spot around there, where some of the topaz turns to pink when you put it in the sun. Can you tell me more about the garnets? You did not seem to find any, but you mentioned them. What kind of garnets? And are they facet grade? I would love to go there. Great video.

    I went in 2018. Temp was 100 plus. Totally by myself. Didn't know where, or what to look for. Climbed around on great sandy tilted slippery slabs. Heat was so extreme that I worried that I might have a problem and could die. Never saw anyone, finally gave up, but saw a glint in the road on the way out. Backed up and found a tiny topaz. Yea. I wasn't skunked. Would like to go again, but not alone. That was stupid. Happy hunting.

      Hi 👋🏻 . I’m happy to hear that you went back with no accidents , that area is very dangerous for single prospector. I was there at least 15 times . Last time I was there 17 years ago and I found lots of Topaz , few Opal pcs ( one was bid as small chicken egg) , and bunch of other specimens . Reason I went there often is that I found Popcorn seed size gold nugget on anthill and I was all over that area trying to find where ants could bring it from , but not luck wich I blame short time that I could be there cause of my job . I found few pcs of petrified wood also . In last 6 to 7 trips each time I found over 300 good sized Topaz Crystals . I was there every time in July and there is no much shade , almost none but I was prepared . I would recommend at least 4 days camping trip there to be more efficient cause often the best producing fissures require lot’s of hours to dig through so working on them is easier if you spread work within few days lol . Each time you go there you will find better spots . Please never go alone there cause that area have lots of snakes and I saw 3 times coyotes near by mountain . Also there is big chance to slip off those pebbles covered slopes.Tires patching kit is must to have in car , some tools and first aid kit . Each person must bring lots of refreshments and snacks. I hope I will hear soon good news from you that you went there and found bunch of good specimens. I’m wishing you good luck in prospecting and all the best you can imagine 👋🏻

    The other guys were lying about not finding anything, you immediately found stones upon arrival, I doubt the others could be this blind, i went to a mine in nevada and all you have to do is sit by a bed were water runs and youll find beautiful stones.

    Keep dan around. How does one learn about all these wonderful rocks. I have looked at rocks all my life and wondered how they formed and got there. Why they are the color or shape and such. wonderful.

    That’s more birthstone. Well the yellow topaz. One of my granddaughters was born birthday(veterans day) 3 years ago. And this year I had another granddaughter born on my birthday 😊 I absolutely hated topaz. But those are beautiful. I’d love to go there one day. Thank you for sharing this adventure.

    @Elley Knows Rocks Thanks so much for taking me along on your adventure! There’s no way I could visit places like this because of my bad knees. But because of people like you, I can at least enjoy part of the coolness of it all. I appreciate you!
    I have a couple questions though.
    Is there any worth in the topaz that has bleached out?
    Once a topaz or beryl has been mined, how does one get the rest of the host rock off the crystal without damaging the crystal?

    Hi! I've been there! Topaz is just laying all over the ground! If you dig in the wash out, you should find topaz that has amazing color, since it has not been bleached by the sun. I hope you had an amazing experience like I did

    I think what you thought was tourmaline is maybe psudobrookite and what you thought was galena is probably bixbyite

    • @Patmacattack94
      @Patmacattack94 Рік тому +1

      Can confirm. Local rockhounder here. Black blades are pseudobrookite and cubic black metallic ones are bixbyite.

    Is the cave part of a claim or is it free access to the public? You are the second UA-camr I’ve seen at that exact cave. So much stuff!
    I believe there is bixbyite there too. Probably the shiny stuff.

  • @SuperKinosh

    Sooooo was that a free dig area or was it a claim you have to pay to be there????

    • @user-ny3xq5og9b
      @user-ny3xq5og9b 5 місяців тому

      There are at least two companies that own claims there that provide tour services where you dig with them. Otherwise no free dig area for red beryl.
