Honestly, I think half of the problem is that they offset the alternate costs with a high CMC, but as this deck shows that is far too often actually an advantage for things to have a high CMC. If these kinds of cards had a more reasonable CMC and the alternate cost mechanic was less effective (so in Delve maybe you’d need to exile two cards per 1 mana discount but the spells aren’t so overcosted) then a lot of these degenerate strategies would just immediately disappear.
Nice take! Will def try stubborn denile i personaly run version with up the bean, murderous cuts and leyline binding pushing it into more control style deck
Thanks for the amazing video! Could you please make a Jeskai Ascendancy combo video now that Retraction Helix is back? :) Jeskai Ascendancy is my all-time favorite - I had such a great time playing it at local paper tournaments back when it was in Standard.
Did a Jeskai Ascendancy combo deck less than a year ago, not sure if I will revisit it anytime soon. This type of combo deck isn't the most enjoyable viewing experience for a lot of people, so the videos don't do particularly well.
Hi legend, I'm loving the deck so far but wail of the forgotten feels very underwhelming. Did you consider any other cards for this slot? grisly salvage is instant and puts more cards in the graveyard, but I'm not sure because it doesn't hit Neoform.
@@LegenVD It makes perfect sense, I was thinking of it more as a enabler. It's the sorcery speed that bothers me the most but I'll try a little more haha. Thank you for taking the time to respond, have a nice day
@@LegenVD I saw a list using Karn's Temporal Sundering and Part the Waterveil, with a couple copies of Invoke Calamity. Seemed like a whole lot of setup to pull off. The idea would be to bin the extra turns spells and make sure Calamity is on top after a Velomachus trigger. Additionally, due to Neoform Velomachus would be a 6/6 and you could flip 6cmc extra turns with him directly as well.
I play a very similar deck in modern, with archon of cruelty instead of atraxa and with a small reanimator sub theme as plan b. I love it, but modern's power level is too high for a deck like this to shine
@@439801RSA free card is always worth playing, it might win you 1 in 100 games, but if it’s free who cares. Companion is often viewed as a mistake mechanic, it was errataed for power level. In best of one, you’re not even using a sideboard slot. Also many Jegantha decks in the format are aggressive red based decks, so this might be an advantage and confuse your opponent into keeping a hand full of useless fatal pushes.
CGB VS LVD provides a lot of value!
This comment provides a lot of value ❤
Which match was that?
@@braedenwinstead1984 match 1
CGB did his best, but LegenVD was packing the good old "onto the next one."
WOW Tasigur the Banana man himself its been a real long time since I saw him
The title is correct. It's up there with cascade
Also up there with Dredge. Dredge is the mother of all broken mechanics
@@Fullmetal85 Dredge is not nearly as broken as Delve, unless you also have delve-type effects in the deck.
@@EllipticalReasoningI think dredge is more busted considering you can present wins without even spending a single mana
A turn 3 big Atraxa truly provides a lot of value
All mechanics that cheat on mana are a mistake. I will die on this hill.
I embrace you as my brother.
CASCADE, CASCADE, CASCADE, CASCADE WOOHOOOO
Okay
Except convoke… at least that one requires you to have a board presence and TAP down your own creatures that you paid for…

Saw you on CGB's vid before you posted... Had to see what you were going for. Chef's kiss for your brews as always
(match 1 spoiler) It was incredibly entertaining to watch CGB get obliterated by counterspells!
I'm a simple man.
I see Explorer, I press like.

That "Stubborn Denial" is a brutal one if you manage to change it into a hard counter on turn 3 or so.
Time to Delve into a new Legend Video
“Ugh why is everyone running so many boardwipes???”
That Izzet Version of Lotus with the Talent is actually sick 💀

LVD the MVP ❤
Tasigur alone is a menace in commander

31:00 Supreme Verdict would have bailed them out but it's extremely unlikely they were even playing it
This video is brought to you by Luca, the Golden Fang

I liked the flexibility of the card, being an enabler early and interaction later when we exile it with Founding.

Tbh I think this deck would fare a lot better in Timeless with access to fetches, dark rit, and evoke elementals.
Why did you decide to go this route instead of the Velomachus Extra Turns route?
Time Warp isn't legal in Explorer.

Speaking of broken mechanics, why no Jegantha companion? 🧐

I've now updated the linked decklist to include it, thanks for reminding me.
Waiting for Arena to automatically suggest companions so I don't forget 😅
We're watching your videos wizards is collecting 💰
So thanks to us not wizards .
A humble offering for the almighty algorithm.
Match 3 is a great example why I'm not going anywhere near this format *yawn*
It's fun watching CGB rope and play slower when he complains about his opponents doing that on his own channel.
