  • Match Fishing - LIVE MATCH - MAKINS FISHERY, Rob Wootton
A live match a Makins fishery. The venue has been re vamped and is sowing great signs of improvement with loads of fish being caught. I even got lucky and drew net to my mate Joe Carass.

They Ruined phase 2/3 of makins took islands out in phase two, combined lakes that were sound, phase 3 they filled with more bream. Used to love fishing makins, but they took a lot of the nice natural features out of nearly every lake in phase 2/3. Will take years to grow back. Bream enthusiasts will love it. For the pleasure waggler man like myself, its not the same phase two used to have unusual catches golden tench, ghost carp, barbel and others cool species. Match fishing is still sound, but for me its lost all its magic. Phase one is pretty much untouched apart from the island on phase one, lake two, which was awesome as there was a bridge you could get ont the island and fish. Will go back again soon, but waiting for the nature to come back on some of the lakes.

I like the way the narration was overdubbed afterwards, helps to tell the story better. I might try similar technique for some of mine. 😊

No sound on all the indoor footage spoiled it for me, shame.

Well fished Rob. Same comments apply to when i watched Joe fish last week. Very interesting narrative and critique from you which helps no end in explaining how the day pans out. Intereting thoughts about using Olivette as when we last fished Lake 4 2 years ago in mid spring some of us also used this method and did indeed catch more fish in the last hour or so. Good video and many thanks for tips. Cheers

Great Video and Info Rob, I was lucky enough to fish there years ago, I'm sure that was Lake 4 as well, I vaguely recognise the shape and the island I fished the same peg I as you or maybe a little more to your left I think, didn't have mush or a day though, until a regular came along and put me right, he told me to go a middlish peg on the end bank and waggler fish up in the water and fish and spray maggots, worked a treat had a load of chub and a few nice carp think they may have be around 4 to 6lb, unfortunately I've not been back, the reptile lake was there then and Im think it was a few years or so after that, a well known larger than life Brummie angler [forget his name now] fished there bagging a load of nice Barbel, he wrote a centre page piece in the Angling times about it.
