How did you think it turned out?? Let me know! Also, "like" this video if you think the kit sounds better now than it did before! The fact that this kit, after you tuned it, sounds not much worse than my pearl export suprised me. The difference you could get out of the kids kit with tuning was wonderful. I think i have to take the time to tune my kit better. I'm wondering how your kids kit would sound when hearing it in real life, or at least without the professional drum mic.
I was wondering how come you have (what looks like) the smaller rack tom on the right of the larger one to the left? They're not typically arranged like that.
sounds pretty ok. but this video felt like clickbait. sure the "kit" you started with was $400, but then you added equipment for at least twice that amount.
What I'd do is cut a porthole in the bass drum to get more attack from it because it sounded too pillowy for my liking, but besides that, It was a great sounding kit, Cheers from Canada!
I bought the next price point up from the same brand (second-hand) for my daughters a few months back, and started to make some upgrades. Thanks a billion for the drum head recommendations! This video couldn't have been more perfectly timed!
You're editing has gotten so much better and much more creative over this past year! One of my favorite parts of this channel that I believe isn't talked about enough. Do you have an editor/editors, or do you edit your vids on your own?
I tried my hardest to make my "first kid set" sound 1/2 way decent! Didn't get mine to sound as good as yours. My mom broke down and helped me get my used Ludwig I still own today!!!
Gabe, you inspire me every single day (that you post). I've been thinking about replacing my drum heads on my very standard beginner kit. I think this video made up my mind. I'll be getting some remos coated heads. Thanks and stay true my beautiful friend.
Sick playing as usual and I think the first beat made for a decent result with that kit, but for Rock a 16 inch base just doesnt cut it no matter how fat your playing you will sound out of place. Honestly a good showcase of how much you can achieve with very little and what the limits are.
You should give the kit away to a kid that wants to start rocking. If I were a young kid and won a kit that was my size (but had quality hardware on it) I would be so stoked and it would allow them to really play without it being limited by the fact that junior kits don’t aren’t always focused on quality. Obviously you can keep cymbals because you added them onto it, but an opportunity like that could make a child’s year. Obviously you’d have to figure something out to be able to prove that it’s a kid entering. It would be kind of sill for an adult to win it just to say “oh I won a drum kit. Look at me and how I’ll never use it because I’m a giant”. Maybe video entries? I don’t know, just a thought. Getting kids into music is almost as important as the music itself
Hi man, very nice video 🙌 one thing you can do to have a more thick and heavy bass sound it’s fill it to the top with clothes or something and then get lose all the screws to the limit, and then give it from a 1/4 of a turn to a half of a turn and give it a try, but don’t turn them more than a half, the idea it’s actually kick the clothes or pillows you have inside the drum ☺️ hi from chile ✌️ I have a 13” bass drum and it sound killing with that system I told you jakajajajaja sorry if I have troubles with my English, I actually speak Spanish hajajajaja
Absolutely great transitions but one small detail to consider the next time: your neckless looks really cool, but it scratshes the mic over and over so it gets pretty annoying. But for the rest a great vid!! Keep it up :D
Any recommendation for beginner to intermediate drum kit? I currently using Roland electric, but prefer acoustic not sure which to look at there is so many. Thanks 😊
bro you took the snare out???? that is the whole challange!?!?!?! try harder and make that tiny snare work otherwise just buy a cheap normal size set and boom all problems solved. oof kinda disappointed.
How can anyone dislike these videos? Another great video. Anyone want to learn drums, get on the Drum Beats Online waiting list. Gabe is an amazing teacher. An you can make tons of friends as well. Hope to see you all there. But first I need to get some money to have another great year with Gabe an friends. Sad my year is up already.
I typed jamming on a kids drumset,, this popped up first. Thought it was all good , but when he started adding new drum pads , kinda defeats the purpose???? May be I'm wrong I don't drum
No disrespect intended, yet I believe what you really did here was spend well over a thousand dollars on additions to the kid's kit and recorded it with an array of far from inexpensive microphones. The extra cymbal, stand, and throne prices add up fast. The end product is a good sound, I admit. Still the video title misleads. I understand the motivation: more views.

Production on this is amazing. Great work.

So happy I could help my friend!
Dude the editing only gets better by each video, every time I see a new one I wonder "Hmm, what's he gonna do this time". Great work!
The “house kit” at most dive bar punk shows.

That moment when you realize Gabe got 2 haircuts during the production of this video
Just proves that in sometimes, it's the player, not the gear! Cheers man!
Thanks dude!
@@DrumBeatsOnline Cheers!
You get a like for that intro alone, lol
You are a true hero
I thought I was a true hero
Ooohhh! This is gonna be good!
❤️❤️❤️
At the start this drum set was 40$, but what did it end up costing?
Thanks for using my beat bro! You crushed it!
The only thing I don’t think sounds good is the kick. The toms sound great and the snare isn’t bad at all!
I tried my hardest to make my "first kid set" sound 1/2 way decent! Didn't get mine to sound as good as yours. My mom broke down and helped me get my used Ludwig I still own today!!!

So practically a new drum set with a remnant of the kids drums. Next
Nice!! No 12” kids drum snare?!?! Really hoped to see that!!!! And how it sound on recording!!
these toms after heads replaced sounds soooo goood
Those Earthworks on a 40$ kit look hilarious 😂
So it's not a 40 dollar drum set when you added hundreds of dollars of add ons
Wow what a HUGE DIFFERENCE in sound once you changed those heads. Nice!
Brother your videos are just awesome . I love them❤
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much dude! Yeah I agree with you on the kick! Glad you enjoyed the video!
toms actually sound pretty damn good!
Haha I agree! I was surprised
Dude, I f**cking love your videos. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱 !!
man this guy can work with any kit big fan
🙏🏽🙏🏽

ok now do it with the original skins and cymbals haha
😅😅
your Videos are so good cutted. Absolute amazing
Just bought this kit for my little guy. If he shows interest for more than a few weeks, I guess I will be watching this again for advice.
Very cool concept/upload! Always enjoy your content

OMG, That is way better after you change the head !!!
Interesting project, love it.
A 40$ kit with 500$ uprade. Why?
Great video and amazing editing
Absolutely great transitions but one small detail to consider the next time: your neckless looks really cool, but it scratshes the mic over and over so it gets pretty annoying. But for the rest a great vid!! Keep it up :D
I WANNA TOUR ON THAT KIT
When I was a kid I put dried split peas in my snare to make it sound more realistic.
I mean I can't afford a kit so I'll would rock the kids kit😂😂😂
But you didn't use the kids drum kit, did you? Try using it, record, then edit sound.
Awesome work man♥️🙇
Ok but I need the rock song as a full song thooo
👀
They sound good. What was your total cost to bring them up to that quality level?
Perhaps send the snare to rDavidr to "Fix"
if you put a mic on the front head of the kick, you would have gotten a better sound on the kick drum
That was sicckkk. I’m literally going to do the same thing for my future child haha
Men you are a drum wizard
Any recommendation for beginner to intermediate drum kit? I currently using Roland electric, but prefer acoustic not sure which to look at there is so many. Thanks 😊
The dwarf set 🤟🔥🔥
I‘m curious, how much mixing did you do? Only very light editing or the full DBO treatment? Sick video!
The intro reminded me of the old Call Of Duty days as soon as I heard it.
6:30 why are the toms reversed? I see more and more people doing this now and I dont get it.
Awesome stuff Gabe! Now do a Facebook marketplace under $50 kit... that is, if you can handle the pressure😉😂
😂😂
God bless. Those toms sounds better than mine do on a normal drumset 😷😷😳😳
So how much do you think the set costs with all the upgrades
Love your videos. Where could I purchase the cymbals rack you have?
How much did you actually spend on the improvements?
I honestly don’t remember, it would really have just been the new heads, but everything else I already had
How do you record yourself?? Like visual
I wander how this freak*** kit into mysterious absolute ******* sounds 😂........
Keep on chasing goal
We always support you😍
Thank you......
Good job
Can we talk about how fast the camera is moving around? HOW? Is that a person or a rig?
Maybe a person with a machanical glider?
It’s a very tired person!
literally sounds better than my kit because of those mics 😧
The kick drum could've sounded "less tiny" with a bass drum riser but the results we're good specially with gabe on the drums 😂
Yeah, the kick was super tough to get a good sound from!
@@DrumBeatsOnline But still this video proved that it's not always about the gear but the drummer
It's a whole new kit now😅
How i wish i have my own jiji 😅👍🏻👍🏿👍🏽👍🏾👍🏼
Someones watching Peter mckinnon and daniel schiffer☺️💜
looks like you could have benefited from a bass drum riser, but awesome job and awesome video!
Where did you get that kids kit for $40????
Getting ‘Fairly Local’ vibes.
I've learned a lot from your videos but, the thing is I'm using a junior drum ket cause I don't how yet a money to buy a standard drum ket 😭😭😭
I bought one
Great for living room
Looking an awful lot like Buddy Rich slumped over that kit
I prefer the “St. Anger” tone of the original $40.00 kit. Lol.
As I receive the cymbals you used in this video 😀😀🤣🤣
Noice! 🤘🏽
I see the double pedal
Nice, but not a $40 kit when you add cymbals, high hat and heads. Oh yeah and a different snare. Great idea and execution though. I can dig it.
Those mics are so expensive 😭😭
"I'm going to use a childerns drum kit" proceeds to swap each compnant untill it is no longer a children's drum kit. What was the fuckin point? lol
so you replaced half of the kit?
thats not &40. its about $100 or $200. bruh
bro you took the snare out???? that is the whole challange!?!?!?! try harder and make that tiny snare work otherwise just buy a cheap normal size set and boom all problems solved. oof kinda disappointed.
If you don't have good songs to play , doesn't matter what gear , mics or drums you have
How is all that $40 ? 🤔
How can anyone dislike these videos? Another great video. Anyone want to learn drums, get on the Drum Beats Online waiting list. Gabe is an amazing teacher. An you can make tons of friends as well. You rock dude!
drum rings and gel pads should be only used for toms lol anytime I hear a snare muffled with rings and gel it sounds from the 80s lol
I typed jamming on a kids drumset,, this popped up first. Thought it was all good , but when he started adding new drum pads , kinda defeats the purpose???? May be I'm wrong I don't drum
Changed way too much to keep true to the title hahahaha 😆. But sounds much better.
You haven’t made THIS KIT sound good, you’ve changed everything, it isn’t upgrade it’s just another kit
I wonder who watched drumeo before uploading this video😂🥁
I filmed this video 3 months ago
Man, why don’t just change all drums to normal-sized? Like why did you limited with changing half a kit?
Like full 🙏🏿
❤️❤️
Super ❤️❣️😘
🙏🏽
Just not the kit you bought at all
Can you Learn to pllay
I want 't play

proof again that it is 90% the drummer and only 10% the kit
Hey thanks!
Gabe, your necklace is hitting the mic and it ruins the audio in someway :/
Why you didn't you just use what came in the box, all you did was upgrade almost everything? That is no longer a $40 drum set!
That cheating!
