    I just put my jig in my vise to keep it from moving. For some, I have seen use painters tape on the gas block to help keep the gas block from moving in the jig as well. Either way, I do like your idea of drilling a hole on the other side to allow the roll pin to drop. Love the videos.

    I've been using Knipex parallel jaw pliers, P/N 8603250, to install the gas tube roll pin and the bolt catch roll pin. It just sort of presses the pins in a such a controlled manner that it's now my most preferred method. Extra nice thing about using the pliers with the bolt catch roll pin is that it's supporting the ear on the receiver that the pin is being pressed into and there's a greatly reduced chance of marring up the finish on the receiver.

    Just picked this tool up, can’t wait to try it on my mk 12 gas block. Thanks for the great info

    I used a pair of robo grips to squeeze my pin in the rest of the way... about the only thing those robo grips were good for.
    I also had a pin mushroom out when trying to use a roll pin punch. Can confirm.

    I went cheep and paid $20 for a block jig off Amazon. And no GB fit in it. A total waste of $. I almost never “go cheap” on gun stuff. The 1 time I try and it bites me. Lesson learned!!!

    You could mill a second trough for the gas tube at the bottom and use it upside-down, ie: 12 o'clock replaced with 6 o'clock.

      @joeshmo13 2 роки тому +2

      This was exactly my thought as well. Mill the second trough in the bottom and tap out a second hole in the bottom of the jig and then you can flip it either way

    You don't know how much you need it until you need it like now, I have been over an hour trying to install one and already lost a pin

    Put the two jugs together then flip as need. As long as your tool fits in the hole

    Remove adjuster screw and that block with adjuster might fit.

    They should just make it a tad longer and mirror the cutout horizontal space below and do a hole on the left side as well therefor giving you what you would achieve by modifying it how you said.

    If I was working on multiple blocks I may consider this but in my case it's overkill.

    Your opinion on using a spring coil pin instaid of split c shaped roll pin for the gas tube?
    Thank you!

    Does the bleed off gas blocks get hotter at the block where it releases the extra gas??? Especially if you're hand is gripping there??

    • @ihtenubz9697
      @ihtenubz9697 6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, definitely a glove situation. It’s also louder when supressed because of the gas being expelled.

    Learned the hard way with driving a role pin with a small punch while installing an ejector spring. The pin flared outward badly and it took alot of work to get it in there. I do not recommend it!

    Do all 3 prong flash hiders make that pinging noise when shooting??? Do the 4 prong ones stop it??? ANYONE...????

    • @30wrdy
      @30wrdy 4 місяці тому

      No. Look for flash hiders that either have different length prongs or the have uneven length cuts.
