She was emotional and therefore not thinking well. Don't use that to judge her whole character. At least I didn't see anyone do that to katara.
@@johndavies7669 True and I don't judge Glimmer for acting the way she did. She had to take the role of queen at a young age, accept that her mother is gone and deal with the Horde and that was a lot of pressure. Sure, she made horrible mistakes, but who doesn't?

@@johndavies7669 Bringing up Catra is a pretty good point, really. Glimmer and Catra both made huge mistakes. However Glimmer actually wanted to help but because of the whole situation she was in (with her mother first not trustig her enough, then being dead and Glimmer having to be a Queen from one day to the other) she didn't think things trough or trusted the wrong people. She just wanted to do the best but screwed up. Because she was scared and confused. And then there is Catra. Sure she had a horrible time at the hord but people always gave her second chances. Adora asked her countless times to join the rebellion, Scorpia wanted to just stay in the crimson waste because both of them where happy there. But Catras self loathing behavoir and her inablity to admit her mistakes lead to her abusing litterally everyone around her. She wasn't just an abusive jerk to her enemies but also the people she used to call friends. In S5 both Glimmer and Catra got their chances to show that they were better than the mistakes they made. But still people seem to hate Glimmer and say that she's annoying and stupid and only made bad decision even though she always tried her best. But the same people seem to completly forgive Catra even though she litterally was willing to destroy the entire planet despite being warned and begged to not do it because of her ego, abused litterally everyone who ever cared about her or trusted her to the point where even Scorpia, who ALWAYS was on her side, coudn't take it anymore and left. Seriously after S5 the majority of the fandom seems to completly forget all the horrible things Catra did and try to justify it with "sHe WaS aBuSEd HErseLf!!" (being abused in the past doesn't make it okay to abuse others) or "bUt sHE LoVeS aDOra!!" (loving someone and not being able to really handle your feelings is not an excuse to be a terrible person towards litterally everyone around you).
Maybe these are the ultimate unpopular opinions but personally I thing that 1. Catra was the most unredemable character (out of the characters who had a redemtion ark), 2. Catras redemtion was done way to fast and there should have been more moments of the others mistrusting her and her suffering actuall consequences for her actions, 3. the relationship between her and Adora isn't really healthy when you consider what Catra did in the past and it as well felt kinda rushed (sure the signs for them feeling like this were there very early but the should have been more...well time needed, especially for Adora who was the abused in this senario, to forgive Catra and allow herself to feel this way)

Glimmer was super annoying throughout season 4, but I can’t exactly blame her. She lost her mom, and she became the queen with basically no time to recover. And now since she’s the queen she’s considered “valuable” and if she was compromised, a lot of information could be exposed to the horde.

@@martsanchez2413 Adora made the plans against the Horde which would be the best since she came from the Horde and knew them best. Frosta even admitted that Adora was the one who usually made the plans.
And as we can see in Season 1 Glimmer's plans were usually to rush into battle without thinking about an alternative.
Not to mention when Glimmer was using She-ra as bait that was obviously Glimmer's made up plan not Adora's especially since Adora was pissed about being used as bait.

Yeah, I’m season 4 I felt bad for why everyone was so angry at Glimmer. She made a mistake. Catra made many many mistakes, and everyone forgave her. But when Glimmer makes one mistake suddenly she’s the worst character.

I agree, she was just trying to do the right thing. Same thing in S4, she made bad decisions but she thought it was for a good reason, until, y'know, it backfired. Also i think that her "annoyingness" is what makes her character human, and it gives her more of a personality. And ofc, thats part of her character develpoment, in S5 she really did become the best version of herself, less selfish and being able to make up for her mistakes. I really enjoyed how she changed throughout the seasons.
well for me it was the fact that adora proved that she was on their side multiple times. She literally saved them plus she was barely fighting back when Glimmer attacked her. All she wanted was the sword. But Glimmer didn’t care. All Glimmer wanted to do was prove to her mom that she was strong. It was just annoying watching Glimmer hold Adora hostage even though she wasn’t a threat. Even Bow knew Adora wasn’t gonna hurt them

TheJunePeach’s Bruh they both worked with her, but Adora can’t exactly blame Glimmer for working with Shadow Weaver when she did exactly that a season or two before. Sure removing the guards and giving her a garden is a bit of a stupid idea but still they both worked with her in some way, and with Adora giving the green flag to everyone about shadow weaver after working with her, she can’t blame Glimmer for approaching her too

I think Season 4 was the best in the series. My only complaint is that Entrapta didn't get much screen time, but whenever she did show up, she stole the show in a way that even Double Trouble would be hard pressed to match. Glimmer's character arc was excellent and there was also an excellent build up to Horde Prime's arrival. In comparison, Season 5 was rushed and sometimes clumsy. It had great scenes and Launch is, controversially, one of my favourite episodes in the entire series (I'm autistic and I really appreciate that they treated the condition realistically instead of trying to romanticise it), but it was much more messy than Season 4. The biggest fuck up was that it gave Catra a redemption arc and happy ending. As far as I'm concerned, Adora should have stuck to her "you made your choice. Now live with it" mindset because Catra was easily as bad as Shadow Weaver and very close to being as evil as Horde Prime.

Alison Brown first of all, glimmer has never been “evil”. being impulsive and confused does NOT mean evil. and she isn’t a “good guy”, she’s a person. during season 4, yes her actions were weird but its not difficult to understand her POV. her mom died, she had to become a queen, she felt like she was left out, and she was desperate to make it all okay. it was obvious there was gonna be some tension. and yes catra IS a villain, so it’s expected she’s evil, but you have to admit she NEVER redeemed herself with scorpia. she literally called her USELESS, said she ruins everything, and attempted to shock her like she did with entrapta, and scorpia obviously loved her. imagine someone you love doing that to you.

I get it tho honestly. Her friends kept making her feel useless and incompetent by pulling that exact same card on her (even if it was with the intent of protecting her), so I can see why she would turn around and use that statement as a means to gain some control. Especially after losing her mother, an event that probably also made her feel very out of control (which she never got the time to properly cope with). I’m not saying Glimmer was in the right, not whatsoever, but I am saying I can understand.
She let herself be manipulated by Double Trouble.
I absolutely love Glimmer. She's amazing and everything, but jesus christ was she really annoying after she became a Queen. 😤 I loved her again in season 5 though

Catra's not evil, she was just really desperate and acted on impulse, but I do agree that the things she did were pretty fucked up. That's why I wish in s5 they stretched out her redemption a little more (I also at least wanted Glimmer to acknowledge that Catra's the reason Angella's fucking GONE). I still love her tho lmao, at least she was serious about changing and doing better.

As much as I don’t agree with what glimmer said to adora in season 4, I don’t really blame her. Her mom did die. She had almost no time to grieve her death, she was forced into being queen with almost no one taking into consideration that (at that point) she had lost both her parents. She probably didn’t know how to deal with so much responsibility and grief and it all came out on adora
Don't forget that Adora was trying to help Glimmer and started to come off as a bit overprotective, she and Glimmer stopped actually talking to each other, and Double Trouble and Shadow Weaver were manipulating Glimmer's mind and emotions the whole while.

I love her, she's grown so much. I think she's just sensitive because she's grown up with one friend so she hasn't been exposed to the world much.
Tbh, I always found Glimmer being angry about Adora making orders weird. It would make sense that She-Ra would give battle orders since the general would usually command the battlefield and although Adora hasn't been given an official title I think it's generally agreed that she's the leader on the battlefield.
I wish someone kind of explained that to her. Yes, being queen she's TECHNICALLY the highest in the chain of command. But, a good queen trusts their battle leaders to lead the battle right.
But I don't begrudge her for this either. in the sense that it makes sense for her character to be impulsive and insecure.

Everyone hating on Glimmer for trying to protect all her friends and her kingdom, wanting to stay in the fight and help people instead of sitting in the castle watching everyone get hurt and sacrifice themselves, and her friends ignored her, left her and didn’t care for her opinion or decision, constantly shutting her down to the point she had to do things herself and not tell the others, because the others didn’t listen when she talked after her mother’s death! But those same people are quick to forgive and defend Catra for being the most toxic and manipulating person in the show for the most of it, absolutely abusive and psychotic! I like Catra, but I don’t like how people can hate Glimmer for wanting to help others and be a good person, but love Catra for being an abusive and manipulative killer!
Exactly. Season 4 glimmer was mean at times but people seem to forget the IMMENSE amount of stress and pain shes going through.
Reminder that Glimmer's strategy is what completely defeated the Horde and that her plan to utilize the Heart in some way was fundamentally right if poorly planned out.

Glimmer really shows her ugly side in S4. She tries to do what's best for her people and has no one to guide her. Her telling Adora that she's basically responsible for Angela's death is awful, but it's Glimmer at her most caustic. What's important is that she learns and grows and becomes a better leader *and* friend in the process.

season 4 glimmer just showed how grief can really really mess you up and make you scared. A lot of the decisions she made in season 4 were based of fear.

ADORA was the one originally going into the portal to get the sword, not Angela. Glimmer just essentially asked Adora to sacrifice her life so her mother could stay alive, which I get from an emotional view, but like, seriously? Telling someone that the death of someone else is their fault could mentally destroy them.

Most of these just make Glimmer human. What she's doing in those seasons is trying to help, but its not helping.

I'm not hating on Catra for foolish reasons, I completely understand why people love her.
But I found it ridiculous how people are hating on Glimmer for being mean to Adora for 2-3 times, but at the same time shipping Adora with Catra who almost murdered Adora several times and abused her the entire time till season 5.
Glimmer had a better and healthier relationship to Adora, why can't the fandom see that ?

Yes, Glimmer reminds me of *Book Hermione* ,propably this is the reason why I love her so much.
Stubborn, intelligent, narrow-minded, persistent, nice, extremely concerned about her friends, uses her power very effectively, thick bushy hair (season 1-3), Glimmer is also not so beautiful like the other girls, not popular, has 2 friends.
Also, in the first few episodes, Glimmer believes that the Horde KILLED her father. So that’s another reason not to trust Adora.

yea i think the grief seriously turned her into someone she didn’t want to be. I think she looked to Shadow Weaver more as a desperate stand in of a mother figure desPITE adora’s warnings. she was defensive because she felt weak when she was put into a place of power just because her mother died. she had no adjustment and other than the first episode of season four she really didn’t get much comfort from bow and adora.
i think her character shows how grief can twist someone, into doing things they believe are righteous despite the logic. because the logic was that glimmer’s immortal mother died, see the contradiction? glimmer never thought once her mother would die or that she would be queen but low and behold that’s what happened. i understand her and really enjoy her character growth throughout the seasons including season four where she learned how to feel strong without depending on others.

Y’all started hating on Glimmer for grieving after her mother dies, which at that point I don’t even think a month before that scene happened. What? Did you really expect her to be all happy again and back to normal after her ceremony? Like that episode completely erased her mom dying? I can’t with these people.

I kinda loved what happened in season 4. Yeah, glimmer kinda ruined everything by connecting scorpia with her runestone but it made the show interesting yknow? And it seemed more realistic of her to do that because she had so much pressure at a young age. Adora and bow were so adamant that glimmer trust them but they didnt seem to be trusting glimmer’s decisions, either imo.

Glimmer's fundamental flaw early on is that she could never really admit she was wrong. The closest she ever got was after the Princess Prom incident, and even then.
Honestly it does make sense why Glimmer would go to someone like Shadow Weaver to learn magic from instead of someone like her aunt. Castaspella basically became a helicopter aunt following her brothers "death", and you can tell she was doubling down on it after Angela became trapped in between dimensions. So learning magic from her would basically just be the basics, or none at all. Meanwhile Shadow Weaver knows Glimmers true power and potential (seeing as she trained Micah) and uses that to get into Glimmers good graces.
I don't think she's annoying, she just thought she was making the right choice, and like a real person she made mistakes and it's completely understandable for her to not trust adora at the start for what the horde has done, she is an amazing character with great character development so yes, stan glimmer. ( No hate btw :"> )

The thing is both of them make wrong decisions. Catra on season 3 and Glimmer on season 4 to be exact.
That's why it was quite interesting and a bliss to see them bond on season 5.

It's all good fun, but from a character analysis viewpoint I think that---besides directly yelling at Adora that she was responsible for her mother's death, cuz that was uber-bad--- people view her with too harsh of a lens. She makes mistakes but she doesn't know for sure that her ideas won't work and she's got a lot of responsibilities.
Also, she got played by a motherly (exactly what she was missing) master manipulator that DID legitimately help them after all and a spy with tons of experience reading people and playing with their emotions THAT SHE THEN USED TO DEFEAT THEIR FORMER BOSS.
Yeah not listening to Adora about the heart wasn't her best move but she wasn't the only one saying to use it, and she had a lot of pressure to win the war.
Seriously, people fault her for trusting Shadow Weaver after Glimmer previously condemned her as a person, but then forget that Shadow Weaver was intentionally written as a master manipulator. OF COURSE Glimmer trusted her, especially when she was in such a vulnerable place emotionally after losing Angella.
