I’m still trying to figure out what the case is for upgrading from the M1 to the M3 Air. The issue is the single vs dual nand and internal memory speed. This is a problem in the M2 Air which makes the M2-to-M3 upgrade more compelling. For Air use cases, the dual external screen capability isn’t amazing.
My M1 MBA still rocks! I won't take an M2 (overclocked M1), or M3 (expensive, and tends to overheat and that's not good in a fanless Air.). If I were to get a new laptop today, I'll either pick up a refurb M1 MBA, or a discounted M1 from an independent retailer.

Hello. Which one will be better? Basic configuration of M3 Air or M2 witch 10GPU, 16GBRAM and 512GBSSD? No foto and video editing. Only normal use. I want to spend my money well.
Just upgraded to M2 15" with 16gb/1TB, from my 4yr old M1 MBA. Wanted a slightly larger screen, bigger ssd, and magsafe port. Not really much of an upgrade in performance (not a heavy user or developer). But I frankly could not resist the deal from best buy - $400 off and $575 tradein on my M1 (which was 16bg / 512gb, and was more than Apple offered me in trade). gonna be a little heavier in the backpack, and the midnight color is fingerprint city. Otherwise, no regrets for this upgrade.
Yeah as you said I don't see the point upgrading to the M3 air from my MacBook 2 air. Feel like even my M1 iMac is still super fast. Thanks for the video.
I'm actually having this discussion with myself. Black friday has seen the M3 15" MBA 16gb/512gb for $1230 and the M3 13" MBA 24gb/512gb for $1249. So do I go for the bigger display and improved thermal design, and better speakers or take the smaller display with 8gb of additional RAM better future proofing with Apple Intelligence launching.
as someone who is looking to buy a MacBook air for school and I don't currently have a MacBook I was wondering which MacBook air I should buy that will last me a long time through 3 more years of high school and into college as well.
I want to upgrade from Macbook pro 2013. Which macbook air shall I go for M2 or M3 ? Do not have a very high graphic usage or so. Also, please let us know which colour is best? Starlight or Midnight ? Advise will be appreciated
I feel it's more of the design that makes the M3 better to be honest. Im happy with my MacBook Air M1 for a couple more years. Im 3 years in with my M1
I am not sure about getting the upgrade to the M3 from the M1, for what I do, I think the M1 is good enough for me to do a lot of what I do anyway. There is some good performance but honestly not compelling enough, and there is the rubber feet which means the M2 and possibly the M3 slide around whenever I simply want to open the screen. Maybe when the next generation of MacBook Air with on-board AI and better gaming support would be where I jump but what I have seen so far I will be saving up for that.
I went from the M! air to an M2 Pro 14 inch. The screen is a seriously considerable upgrade yet alone the other features. I found the screen on the Airs to be average (for a mac) at best. Its not the size more the clarity for just desktop use. You will sacrifice a lot when it comes to this. Remember its a 4+4 core design (4 performance and 4 efficiency, and few DAWs touch efficiency cores due to reliability) , so audio software seiously suffers compared to the M2 Pro (8 performance cores) and its hard to measure this as benchmarks just burn all cores.
I have been using M1 macbook air for past 3 years now (upgraded only internal storage to 512 gigs as I don't like carrying external drive) and even now it is really fast and last almost 1-2 days with my usage. Still not even slightly considering to new Macbook. M1 macbook air was one of the best laptop ever released.
which one you recomend to me, im trying to buy my first apple laptop, to edit videos for youtube, which one you think i should buy to learn how yo edit my own video on capcut, davinci, filmora or any program
Had to get m1 a couple of years back, no complaints. Still very capable. 16 gb with 1 tb memory. Apple lasts. Even my 2014 old macbook air still works to this day - except for some apps I can no longer install.
I e never had, but always wanted a Mac laptop. I’m starting my new course soon and want a MacBook. I would use it for every day use. What Mac do you suggest?
First time viewer, will certainly be checking other videos following this gem though. I obtained my base M2 MBA a few weeks ago and it's my first time being back on MacOS since 2015. For this reason I stuck with the base model as I need to upgrade my own knowledge and capabilities over the next 12 months before I upgrade the machine. That being said, I have purchased a decent portable SSD, mobile hub etc so that I can carry these accessories forward and keep my internal SSD as free as possible for the limitations of the unified memory. No. Regrets. Whatsoever.
The keyboad looks so disproportionate on the 15-inch one because that gap is where the speakers on the pro would be. It looks like it's a picture that someone reduced in a big white canva on MS Paint.
I’m considering an M1 pro against an m3 air. Price difference isn’t much and I’m upgrading from an MBP16 Intel i716/513 that’s undergone some repairs. What would you recommend.
I am using my MacBook air M1! I absolutely love the laptop and I am going to squeeze as much out of it as I can. When I do eventually upgrade I will get the M2 make sure to get the 16gb of RAM added on that will be more than enough for what I need it for.
Bought the MacBook Air M2 (base spec), well satisfied with the performance and portability, great combo with my M1 iPad Air…I can edit 4K video easily using external SSD.
Here are my two options M2 13 inch - 16GB/512SSD M3 13 inch - 16Gb/256SSD Should I prefer the latest chip over having extra SSD ? FWIW, The M3 version is $100 cheaper. I will be using the device for university which starts in September 2025 . My course will be computer science I really think the 15 inches version will be beneficial for university stuff but I am tight on budget and don’t want to go for the base model with 8gb RAM.
I am having MacBook pro 2019 version with Intel chip set. I am thinking of upgrading to MacBook Air M3 with 16gb RAM and 512 gb Storage. I am a wildlife photographer& my main work is photo editing using Photoshop, Lightroom , Topaz. Will it be a good n worthy upgrade. Need some honest suggestions
I wouldn't swap my gorgeous m1 air for anything in the world.. Best tech purchase ever made . Probably best laptop ever made for such a reasonable price
if im just coding and internet browsering can the m1 work fine? rn im using mid 2012 model and it stopped updating and cant even browse the web without freezing with 3 tabs
i have a 2014 macbook air that won’t update, deletes my work, deletes my apps. if i only need it for writing which should i upgrade to? i want it to last a long time don’t want to be in this position again in a few years time…
The new Macbook Air M3 15" 16GB/512GB is similarly priced with Macbook Pro M3 14" 16GB/512GB. Despite the 1" monitor size difference, in terms of performance in everyday use, with main tasks photo editing and web development (using sometimes Virtual Machines with Parallels), which one would somebody suggest? Should any of them perform better for that tasks?
@ohsocooll12342 It also has a fan that can collect dust over time and fail Unless you're going to be the greatest programmer of all time (even though AI will take your job), plan on treating the Mac like a gaming PC, or plan on ONLY using a laptop at home there's no reason for a Pro
I am a Windows user with an ASUS ROG laptop, and I always keep the charger plugged in while using it. I have recently switched to a MacBook. Is it safe to do the same with a MacBook, or are there any specific things I should be aware of?
If I just want the laptop for general document / writing work, calls, movies, minor research and light use of iMovie, can I get away with the base “free” RAM, storage etc?
I am a graduate student and most of the time I do tons of papers, worksheets, extensive research and some video or audio visual presentations (using Final Cut pro) and photo editing. Which RAM should I get, 16 or 24 GB? with your recommended RAM, I am hoping that the M3 MacBook Air won’t overheat or throttle with the work that I do.
The voice isolation does a really great job. The portrait mode has defects around your hair - you could see areas going out of focus around the edges of your hair.
Does it have a regular USB port? Does it have an Ethernet port? Does it allow to use standard keyboard layout (ctrl, shift, alt)? Does the operating system allow to manage open windows placement by default? There are a lot of cons of using Mac, it's far from being ideal laptop. You can get better spec on ordinary laptop for like less than 25% of its price and dual boot it to have both Linux and Windows and you can basically do everything on this setup with less tweaking than on Mac
Hi there, I am looking to update and believe Mac book air works for me, I would look to add 24 ram and a 1 TB drive and split it to run Microsoft for work. Is this possible on the M3 and will the apple mouse work on both systems.

Had to get m1 a couple of years back, no complaints. Still very capable. 16 gb with 1 tb memory. Apple lasts. Even my 2014 old macbook air still works to this day - except for some apps I can no longer install.
Can you power your M3/M2 through the USB-C port? For those (like me) who have an external display that powers your laptop
love my macbook m1 (16gb, 1TB), bought it used 3 years ago. Never had any problems with my music software.
779 for the M1 Air is seriously good value for money.
I e never had, but always wanted a Mac laptop. I’m starting my new course soon and want a MacBook. I would use it for every day use. What Mac do you suggest?
Is it a good idea to get a 16/512 M2 now instead of a 8/512 M3? I will mostly using it for PhD research (lot's of chrome tabs, programming)
Which one did you end up going for?
is it better to buy a macbook air m2 512 or m3 256?
Long live the M1. One of the greatest laptop I’ve ever use and still using. Great review
don't think I've seen anyone test the voice isolation like this but man, it's crazy good. didn't expect it to be THAT good.
What do you think you about getting the upgrade to 24 gb unified memory with 512gb space?
First time viewer, will certainly be checking other videos following this gem though.
I obtained my base M2 MBA a few weeks ago and it's my first time being back on MacOS since 2015.
For this reason I stuck with the base model as I need to upgrade my own knowledge and capabilities over the next 12 months before I upgrade the machine.
That being said, I have purchased a decent portable SSD, mobile hub etc so that I can carry these accessories forward and keep my internal SSD as free as possible for the limitations of the unified memory.
No. Regrets. Whatsoever.
Is that m1 air is enough for learning Full stack development?
The keyboad looks so disproportionate on the 15-inch one because that gap is where the speakers on the pro would be. It looks like it's a picture that someone reduced in a big white canva on MS Paint.
Ha - yeah I know what you mean!
Thinking about getting a MacBook for the first time? Which one should I get ? Thinking about getting the 15” air M3
60Hz IPS, 8Gb 256Gb 2024 lol
Zenbook S13 : 10 hours of battery while streaming, OLED display 16 Gb/512
Battery life difference?
I think they’re introducing new designs in a method that’s similar to other pc manufacturers, where they’ll just kind of let the old stock run out
Just bought M1 Air last December. Might replace this after 5 years of use
Do you think this new MacBook is good for programs like premiere pro? Or should I still go for the pro?
It’s good for simpler 4k projects, but it’s very capable and a lot cheaper than a m3 pro MBP 14/16. So yes it’s good enough
Bought the MacBook Air M2 (base spec), well satisfied with the performance and portability, great combo with my M1 iPad Air…I can edit 4K video easily using external SSD.
Finally a good review! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Here are my two options
M2 13 inch - 16GB/512SSD
M3 13 inch - 16Gb/256SSD
Should I prefer the latest chip over having extra SSD ? FWIW, The M3 version is $100 cheaper.
I will be using the device for university which starts in September 2025 . My course will be computer science
I really think the 15 inches version will be beneficial for university stuff but I am tight on budget and don’t want to go for the base model with 8gb RAM.
should I upgrade from m1 air?
I am having MacBook pro 2019 version with Intel chip set. I am thinking of upgrading to MacBook Air M3 with 16gb RAM and 512 gb Storage. I am a wildlife photographer& my main work is photo editing using Photoshop, Lightroom , Topaz. Will it be a good n worthy upgrade. Need some honest suggestions
I wouldn't swap my gorgeous m1 air for anything in the world.. Best tech purchase ever made . Probably best laptop ever made for such a reasonable price
if im just coding and internet browsering can the m1 work fine? rn im using mid 2012 model and it stopped updating and cant even browse the web without freezing with 3 tabs
i have a 2014 macbook air that won’t update, deletes my work, deletes my apps. if i only need it for writing which should i upgrade to? i want it to last a long time don’t want to be in this position again in a few years time…
Is the M1-model camera enough for video calling (Teams in my case), or should I go for the M2-model?
When I buy my MacBook Air I'm going to spec it out with Logicpro, Final Cut Pro, and 2TBs of storage.
At this point why don't you get a pro?
Really desperate to avoid the weight of the pro?
The new Macbook Air M3 15" 16GB/512GB is similarly priced with Macbook Pro M3 14" 16GB/512GB. Despite the 1" monitor size difference, in terms of performance in everyday use, with main tasks photo editing and web development (using sometimes Virtual Machines with Parallels), which one would somebody suggest? Should any of them perform better for that tasks?
MacBook pro will be much faster and able to handle more demanding applications. It also has a better display, and better speakers
@ohsocooll12342 It also has a fan that can collect dust over time and fail
Unless you're going to be the greatest programmer of all time (even though AI will take your job), plan on treating the Mac like a gaming PC, or plan on ONLY using a laptop at home there's no reason for a Pro
What is better to buy, m2 16gb ram or m3 8gb?
I am a Windows user with an ASUS ROG laptop, and I always keep the charger plugged in while using it. I have recently switched to a MacBook. Is it safe to do the same with a MacBook, or are there any specific things I should be aware of?
Is absolutely safe, I use my m1 air in same way for 2 years and battery capacity is 94%
what picture/edit apps do you use on your macbook? im curious
If I just want the laptop for general document / writing work, calls, movies, minor research and light use of iMovie, can I get away with the base “free” RAM, storage etc?
Random question - how’s the benchmarks look with the M3 Air vs M1 Pro 14”?
Starlight or Silver? What's the best color?
are he Macbook air 13" M3 already allowing dual external monitor?
I am a graduate student and most of the time I do tons of papers, worksheets, extensive research and some video or audio visual presentations (using Final Cut pro) and photo editing. Which RAM should I get, 16 or 24 GB? with your recommended RAM, I am hoping that the M3 MacBook Air won’t overheat or throttle with the work that I do.
Should i go for m2 air with 16gb ram or m3 air with 8gb ram ?
If i have the Pro M2 is it worth exchanging it for the M3 Air?
Hell no
The voice isolation does a really great job. The portrait mode has defects around your hair - you could see areas going out of focus around the edges of your hair.
Apple obviously does well with its pricing strategy, but I might wait and buy a refurbished Air later, with 16GB of RAM and a 512 drive.
ive had the m1 since 2021 and its been great
Does it have a regular USB port?
Is this possible on the M3 and will the apple mouse work on both systems.
can we edit 4k videos on macbook air? please guide...im not a mac user but just thinking about to get one
