Love the fly; does that long tail wrap around the hook, especially on a windy day ??? Thanks for sharing !!!
Thanks buddy. Yeah it happens occasionally, but not often. During a days fishing - it really isn't a big problem in my experience. Cheers, Michael :0)
Hey Michael. This looks like an awesome pattern and I can't wait to tie some up myself. I've used the Double Barrel Popper heads in size XL for some big Pike/Musky flies. Very buoyant heads that I've not tried turned around as a diver style head. Should work great. I really like the barred chartreuse and will tie just like you did. I'm also going to use your same recipe and tie some in a barred orange/black colors.
Hi there, thank a lot for your feedback. I'm confident that an orange barred version would be killer too. Tight lines, Michael :0)
Thanks for taking the time to make and post this. It's 20 F, snowing, sleeting... in late January. I'll be tying some of your Salamander today. It's going to be a killer in summer!
Thanks for your feedback David. In my neck of the woods temperatures are just around freezing right now, and will drop to around 20 F in the next few days. I sure am looking forward to summer and surface fishing as well :0) Cheers, Michael :0)
Awesome popper/slider Michael! Surface flies have come along way since I tied my first Dalhburg Diver or cut my first poppers from those car topper canoe supports. Thanks!👍😎
Thanks Joe, yep, there are a lot of foam products to choose from - but I still love to tie Dahlberg Divers with real deer hair. I made my first foam poppers using flip-flop beach sandals. Worked like a charm. Cheers, Michael :0)
Very good video.
What rod use to cast that fly?
Thanks Juan. I use a 9 ft. 7 or 8 weight for this fly. Tight lines, Michael :0)
Good stuff Michael....as usual
Thanks a lot for your feedback. All the best, Michael :0)
