Your hypothetical description of Mace Windu trying to save the Republic and being at odds with Yoda over what the best method is to help was amazing. I got chills picturing Anakin's unfortunate roll in the middle of it all and striking down Mace Windu. Such a compelling storyline would have been an incredible boon to the franchise.
Your videos are so well thought out and the presentations are compelling. Keep up the good work!
Right?! I really hope they re-do the prequels one day and we get to see stuff like this. Thanks for watching by the way! Feel free to subscribe and share this if you haven't already .
Here's one observation I've always commented to friends regarding Darth Vader, that NO ONE (at least I've never heard)...
If you focus on the way Vader... SPEAKS... specifically HOW he speaks... the abyss between the prequel "Anakin" and Vader will widen even more than ever. Wicked heartless Vader speaks like an EDUCATED man. Just think about it. He speaks CLEARLY and DELIBERATELY. Despite the fact that Anakin's voice is being amplified by his helmet, the style and eloquence of his spoken words are undeniable, even if they're the last words you'll ever hear.
This fact turns the prequel's "Anakin" into an impostor. Not Vader-like in the least!!!
What do you think???
This is actually a good point. The difference is definitely jarring when you put it in perspective.
Cause if you think about it his ability to express himself is something that NEVER became hampered. So the Vader that we know well and how he spoke has to be consistent with how he did BEFORE he got his life sustaining suit. THEREFORE, the prequels Anakin needed to be, at least, an educated learned man... with a galaxy sized ego.
Eduardo Castillo I agree but all sith talk articulate Maul, Dooku, Palpatine and Vader it's just this sense of arrogance that sith Carry
In the final fight on Mustafar, Anakin shouldn't have spoken for 90% of it, his facial acting was absolutely terrifying, make his lined more dark and emotionless and you have Vader. Only line I'd keep in was "I HATE YOU!!!" that was really sad and the aggression was perfect and made sense.
13:00 guess what! Revenge of the Sith has deleted scenes where the Jedi DO plot against Palpatine to find a way to overthrow/expose him and fix the Republic.
I disagree with your point that Anakin didn't have proof that the Jedi were evil until the scene with Windu and Sidious. Anakin was considered dangerous by the council in episode 1 because he was too old to be brainwashed like the rest of the younglings. In episode 2 he was rebelling against the mandatory emotional suppression. In episode 3 he noticed the similarities between the Jedi and the Sith. Saving Padme made Anakin join Palpatine, but I'm pretty sure he would have gone rogue if left to his own devices.
This was brilliant. Especially the Jedi coup idea.

dooku shouldve used his own clone army. I like your direction for him too
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Be sure to subscribe, and share this video if you haven't already!
You sort of hit on one of my theories of the prequels. Following the backlash from The Phantom Menace, I think Lucas got scared and backed off. He set up a lot of theories and plans with Episode I and then they seemed to stop without reason or warming. He followed this up with back off after more backlash from Attack of the Clones too, I think. It's a shame.
This may sound crazy to people, but the relationship between Maria and Captain Von Trapp in the sound of music is much more like what Anakin and Luke and Leia's mother's relationship should have been like. I won't say Padme, because the name is terrible to begin with.
Julia Andrews (Maria), looks so much like Carrie Fisher. She is a strong woman, beautiful, smart, and likable. Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) is a war hero, stern, but stands up for what he feels is right. An interesting fact, he was actually considered for the role of Anakin Skywalker in Return of the Jedi when we finally see Dath Vader revealed beneath his icon black helmet. Plummer looks similar enough to actor Sabastian Shaw that he would have been a great casting choice, and a great figure they could have based young Anakin on, the character whom I feel should have been much older, experienced, and more like Captain Von Trapp when we first met him in the less than mediocre Star Wars prequels. If one were going to rewrite the prequels and pen a graphic novel of them, Andrews and Plummer would be great actors to base those characters on.
Padme sounds like a thai dish and it makes me hungry. You make some great points here! I never thought about the similarities between the characters in Star Wars and The Sound of Music.
@@psychotripnerdstuff Actually, the name Padme comes from the Sanskrit word for "lotus". A common Buddhist chant is "Om Mani Padme, Hum"--"Hail To The Jewel In The Lotus."
These were great arguments and ideas. What is done is done, can be enjoyed for what it is while giving a lesson for future works.
I must say, these ideas are amazing. 5:23 That sounds like the Anakin from the 2008 Clone Wars TV series.
Oh my god, thank you! I thought I was the only one who thought Dooku would serve the story better as a separate entity from both the Jedi and Sith.
Glad others agree! Thanks for watching, and be sure to subscribe and share this video if you haven't already!
"I don't like sand. It's course and rough and irritating... just like my acting."
No, IMHO Mark Hamill is a much better actor than Hayden. Hayden's acting makes me cringe every time he is on screen in SW. Mark Hamill has since been in many productions as a voice actor. He is THE Joker.
Voice acting is obviously completely different though. Mark Hamill can't even watch the OT because he's embarrassed of his acting - especially episode 4 *shudders*. Luke was a jedi and he got overshadowed by a regular smugglar type because Harrison Ford had way more likeable acting charisma than Hamill ever had.
Hamill is a legend but he's still a shit [physical] actor - regardless of whether you think he's better than Hayden or not. Hayden has proved his acting in other films (ie Shattered Glass) when did Hamill do that?
That's hardly unique for actors: Do YOU like watching yourself on camera?
People might blast me for saying this but i wish they had revealed Jar Jar to be a sith lord it would have been the craziest plot twister if that goofy behavier was just a ploy to put every ones gaurd down in fact i beleave he was supposed to be a sith lord especially after i watched FACT: STAR WARS WAS JAR JAR BINKS FAULT i would have prefeared it if they revealed jar jar to be a sith lord because he would have had a reason for being in the movie instead of just being there and annoying. #remake prequels.
You know in the video i mentioned the guy said that he beleaves dooku was just a stand in because they were going to reveal jar jar but after all the hate they got someone else to fill in form him which is why we don't get much back story on dooku and possibly why his lightsaber looks funny.
Clone wars Anakin is bassicly the Anakin You want
Excellent video with a lot of great ideas!
2 things
Pacing
Writing
These are definitely the basic problems with the prequels. I wanted to take things a bit further though, by suggesting core changes to the story that could make it better. Still, you're not wrong!
I agree with you totally about the Jedi. I literally suggested something like this to my friend.
Honestly Mcdermid is the best thing about these movies. Every second he's on screen is gold.
There are two kinds of fans who dislike or hate the prequels: the “old” ones who grew up watching the originals and others who are not that old but are influenced by the firsts. I grew up watching both the prequels and the originals, and although I recognize that the originals are better (they have to be since they came first) I can proudly say that there hasn’t been a single Star Wars that I disliked, on the contrary, I love them all! What happened was this: when Lucas announced the prequel trilogy a lot of fans created big expectations, not only about the movies (which they expected to be as good or better than the originals) but also about the figure of Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker before the mask and suit, and when we create too much expectations about something… we may end up disappointed. In my opinion the prequels were the best result possible at the time. Lucas and his team put a lot of effort on doing everything, just search for the information and you’ll find it. The sequel trilogy is coming out and it’s being better accepted, because now fans know that despite they’re great movies it is impossible to have Star Wars as good as the original! I believe that as time goes by the prequels will be less and less despised and increasingly appreciated, since new generations of fans will appear with a more open mind for the present and future.
Know that feel. If it makes you any good, your fantasy videos inspired me to salvage my fantasy setting. And it seems to work for once.
What is that footage from?! Edit: Nvm i found it ( old republic mini-movie trailer thingy)
I’d keep Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was perfect and looks like a young Alec Guinness.
I’d cast Christian Bale as Anakin Skywalker. I got the idea after watching Equilibrium and he looks like a young Sebastian Shaw.
I’d cast Charlize Theron as Padme.
Thanks for the vid man. In regards to Count Dooku, have you read the Darth Plagueis novel yet?
I haven't yet! But I do know a bit about the general storyline. Were you thinking of something particular?
how long there gonna fix prequel trilogy
What is this footage from?!? Some type of video game? It looks awesome
Can’t believe no responded to you in 4 years. It’s from the Old Republic trailer “Return”
I think when the first Star Wars thing popped up, characters with great thirst of life and ambition were popular. We see a small kid who is self-confident, funny, intelligent, talented, skillful, silver-tounged, passionate. When we jump at millenium, we see blank page characters with bland lives rising up to the situation (that's been happening to them seemingly by chance but in fact it's not by chance because they're actually the demi-god chosen one unicorn cyborgs or something). I believe the prequels had this conflict of ideas, both the original and the hip, that messed up Anakin character.
Good thing The Clone Wars came to be
Do you think there's even the slightest chance of the prequels ever getting redone? I highly doubt it, but I've seen so many videos suggesting great fixes that it's getting frustrating just thinking about the prequels...
I highly doubt it. At least within the next 10 to 15 years. Somewhere down the line almost everything good gets remade, so I'm not completely holding out hope. Thanks for watching by the way!
psychotrip No problem, the video was great and really got me imagining what we could've had with the prequels. Let's hope they do get remade someday!
daniel ap Definitely! Be sure to subscribe and share this video if you haven't already!
Why should they be redone anytime soon? It's pretty easy to criticise films in hindsight after release but that doesn't mean new faults won't become paramount.
I know people who won't even watch the Original Trilogy because they're set in the late 70's. Plus there's plenty of things that can be improved with the originals too. Even Lucas himself did the Special Edition edits due to limitations with filmmaking back in the 70s - which he says affected his vision for the film.
Star Wars probably will have a reboot eventually but just targetting the prequels seems a lost cause.
What is this footage from?!?!?!
Star Wars: The Old Republic. Gameplay-wise it's just a WoW clone but all in all it's one of my favorite MMOs. Give it a try!
I agree about Dooku, totally wasted. I would have had him as a Grey Jedi who was the leader of the less extreme elements of the Seperatists.
But they were plotting to take over the government as a transitional regime. There are entire lines about this at episode iii
I agree on dooku but i also think they wasted maul Yes he's used in Clone wars but he shouldve had a big role in thé Trilogy was
never remake the prequels, that sets a dangerous precedent
Maybe with count doku you've just been watching too much lord of the rings sarurman isn't the only character Lee played but yeah I see what you mean and yeah it would be better
I think the fall of the republic story is too big for a few movies- make it a (multi-season?) ten hour cable/download mini-series with the characters and politics as the focus, and only modest battles on screen. Elaborate cg creatures couldn't have much screen time for budgetary reasons. Also it would have to center on new characters that may or may not survive any given episode to create tension. Also give some of them objectives that they could succeed or fail at that aren't rendered pointless by unalterable plot points in the original trilogy.
I think it could be done in a movie series or a high budget TV series like Game of Thrones, but it would take work and talent.
the clone wars series does help the prequels at least build the characters.
***** Definitely. I just wish we saw that depth translated into the prequels themselves.
Something I always notice about attempted re-writes, that you fall into. No-one seems capable of escaping the grand political soap opera being the main story. Star Wars films should be, like the originals, a tale of a few friends on a personal adventure amid a much larger conflict; with the larger conflict only coming into the foreground occasionally.
lol
Step 1 better script Step 2 don't have kid anakin save the day Step 3 don't have anakin murder children Step 4 don't kill dearth maul in episode 1 Step 5 Condince 2 and 3 so there can be more dearth Vader
ben davis 1. sure.
2. kid anakin is to make the films relatable for the target audience: kids.
3. then who else is going to kill the rest of the jedis (who start young). He turned evil so why does it matter he killed kids? Lucas eased into that part when Anakin kills the "women and children too" in the Tuskan Raiders slaughter scene.
4. Darth Maul survives beyond episode 1. Watch The Clone Wars or Rebels. That's canon.
5. We get more of a background with the young Anakin. It also allows a believable time-gap.
I think the biggest problem of the priequels is that they take themselves too seriously.. The originals were more like space fantasy anventures, more easy, and the prequels are too much into politics and "oh my gods, democracy is dying!".
But you made good poinys here.
Definitely, dude. I mean, there's nothing wrong with a space fantasy that ALSO involves philosophical depth and political drama, but first and foremost it should be fun!
Thanks for watching, by the way! Be sure to share this video, and subscribe if you haven't already!
It’s because it takes place during the Clone Wars & during the establishment of the Galactic Empire. The Clone Wars show is a improvement & it makes the prequels better, but I get what your going.
11:55 creeepy
Haha! Someone finally referenced my stealth Binks. I try to throw one in whenever I talk about Star Wars.
psychotrip Hahaha I was waiting for your answer. Does it feel good to have someone finding it? XD
Just to let you know everything you said Anakin should have been, is exactly what Anakin is in (Star Wars The Clone Wars) the 3D animated show. It's one of the best SW media you could ever watch! Heres a video on why you should watch SWTCW. ua-cam.com/video/gAdo3dGYd1E/v-deo.html
Hey, here's a crazy idea, maybe don't show your face in a video like the Pyro from TF2 your avatar seems to be based off of.
The story goes that George Lucas fired anyone who raised criticism and insisted on "can you do that again but more jedi-like?" which meant enotionless and monotone.
#ChristianBaleForAnakin
1. Hire a hack action film director.
2. Have him remake the original trilogy.
3. Make every lead character an empowered woman.
4. Introduce more diversity into the cast.
5. Introduce Jar Jar Binks, only to kill him off.
It'll make billions in merchandising alone!
Typical stupid observations from a FAKE fan who doesn't get these movies. Lets stop with the FAKE narrative these movies were universally panned. When Phantom Menace came out it initially got positive reviews, even Episode 2 the reviews are split and Episode 3 they are generally positive. I don't care for critics or reviews but stop spreading lies just to fit your own agenda. I would say more FANS are happy with the prequels than are not once again it is the VOCAL MINORITY who grabbed the headlines.
Wow you really like to use caps, huh buddy? Chill out man. If you like the prequels more power to you. If you're secure in what you like, then you won't freak out when someone disagrees.
Don't care I'm tired of stupid fans speaking for real fans i only used caps for 4 words.
The fact that you think you have the right to decide what makes someone a real fan tells me all I need to know about you.
Dont care what you think of me i don’t make videos that fit my narrative to get likes. Fyi when you make statements like most or all people or all critics try to have actual evidence to back your claims. No wonder why people believe these days the news is all fake🧐
I agree with you especially with Dooku. I've always felt Dooku should have been just a rogue Jedi and not a Sith. His opening scene with Obi-Wan was great.
Exactly! So much wasted potential. That scene with Obi-Wan was setting up so much more!
Balthasar gelt Really? How so?
Balthasar gelt I respect your opinion, but i definitely feel like making Dooku a pure villain ruined any sort of nuance the character seemed to have beforehand. They built up a much deeper character and then just wasted it all.
psychotrip What if Dooku acted as Palpatine’s apprentice but was still plotting against him? The reveal in the third film could be Palpatine calling Dooku to his office while Anakin was there for a private “negotiation” between the Seperatist and Republic leaders. Palpatine’s goal is to make Dooku, a gray Jedi as far as Anakin knows, look evil and as an extent, eventually prove how Dooku’s ideals extend to the Jedi as well when Dooku suddenly goes off script and tries to kill Palpatine instead, revealing that he wanted to overthrow Palpatine and save the Republic whether that means fixing it or establishing a new government. Anakin ends up killing Dooku after more manipulation from Palpatine, who has proven the Jedi’s evil to Anakin at this point.
