Rachel Moon ikr it sounds more epic in ORAS. When the triangle started moving, I got goosebumps because it was probably the most epic scene in my currently 7 (yes 7) years of playing Pokemon. This thing of outer space made history in the main game franchise be as being the very first Mythical pokemon to be captured in-game without the requirement of an event. Truly epic!
ShiningDialga I'd love it if they made it so you have to solve the original puzzle in order to start battle with Deoxys on Sky Pillar. Heck, the summit of the tower is already triangle shaped just like Birth Island in 3rd gen, that makes it even more of a wasted opportunity imo.

The only issue is that you didnt really know, so imagine if you ran out of balls trying to catch rayquaza, and all of the sudden you find yourself against deoxys not knowing if you will have another chance. Other than that, they gave him a role in the game more than just a moving triangle in an island, and in an epic way

This is what I love about the gen 3 games, legendaries aren’t just blatantly handed to you, like eternatus and some others. Whether it’s reading brail, pushing a weird triangle around a room or having to track them down in the wild, it really makes them feel legendary, not just rare.

You mean like having to awkwardly bump into walls over and over until you get lucky enough to drive around a corner? Or having to hope you live in the US with an event nearby otherwise you're out of luck and will never encounter the legendary, because it's forever forcibly hidden behind an event? Or misunderstanding that requiring players to consult a braille dictionary would essentially be meaningless given at that point of having to research they'll simply go the easier step and look up the solution directly, completely nullifying any amount of accomplishment you'd have gotten out of a more decipherable puzzle? That stuff doesn't make them feel "legendary" it makes them feel like a pain to get and like even more of an annoyance when you have to spend the next half hour throwing balls and resetting every few minutes. There's a middle ground between the extremes here. A long questline like in the remakes is fine. A small minidungeon like for the birds is fine. A convoluted quest no one can be arsed to figure out or an unattainable event pokemon aren't "epic fun legendaries", they're just annoyances that sour the game experience. Design, music, surroundings and their unique look should set them apart as legendary.

Also, this type of practice nowadays would be just scummy overrall. DLC exists now and should be the norm for the pokemon series. What was always cool with mythical pokemon was their lore and their in game events. Rarity was never the appeal.

Gen Kureshima ORAS is set in the same universe as the Pokemon War and the activation of the ultimate weapon, so theories say that the ultimate weapon reached so far up that it imbued cosmic debris with energy and potentially life, thus creating a Deoxys meteor.

As far as I'm aware, nothing official has ever been confirmed.

The scariest thing about Deoxys is the implication that comes from it being within the meteor. Your told in game that meteors have periodically come towards the planet in such a consistent and often manner that Rayquaza wakes up essentially ready to go because of the Dragon People and their ability to time out when a meteor is coming. And the Meteors have been steadily getting bigger. This time though, wherever the meteor came from, it was decided that meteor may not be enough. After it was destroyed, the plan B inside came to life. The payload was Deoxys, which immediately attacked mind you. And Deoxys is STRONGER THAN MEGA FUCKING RAYQUZA. Were it not for your character, Deoxys would’ve blown past you and made certain that the world blew up. If you had lost the battle, Deoxys would’ve attacked everyone else until there was nobody left to attack. Deoxys came from a place where it was decided that Deoxys was good Enough. Okay? Do you see the fear now? Wherever Deoxys came from, there’s possibly MORE just like it, or not GREATER than it!! There is an entire species of Alien Pokémon that fucking want us all Dead. DEAD.
If you think about it, al lot of pokemon came to our planet inside a meteor.. Kyurem, or, to be more accurate, the Original Dragon, fused together with Zekrom and Reshiram... Then there is Eternatus, a pokemon that has fallen in a meteor in our planet 20.000 years ago... Then Deoxys in ORAS.... Gamefreak loves meteorities
Even though it isn’t canon, I think Deoxys would make a Pretty Badass herald for necrozma and the ultra beasts. He tests the waters, and when the Time is right, creates a device to generate an Ultra Wormhole in Hoenn

I legitimately cry in excitement every time I watch the first battle compared to the new ORAS encounter. It’s so nostalgia chilling and so clever to have deoxys still keep its lore of being moved around in a triangle to appear!! But this time in space it doesn’t have to wait for someone to push it around in gravity!
I still remember playing ORAS after destroying that meteor, and the moment I saw that triangle, I had that moment of realization that I was gonna be battling Deoxys in fucking outer space. And when that triangle started to move about and Deoxys showed itself, I had never been so hyped playing a Pokemon game ever. It was a really surreal feeling, ORAS definitely was an amazing remake of my favorite region.
I love that ORAS made Deoxys obtainable through normal gameplay and like the original event you can catch it so you actually own it rather than have it just be given away to you and you cannot rename it due to having a different OT. The next Mythical that would get this treatment is Celebi in the Virtual Console version of Crystal as a post-Elite Four reward. I wish future games would do this with ones like Mew and Jirachi. Even if it's a big requirement like filling up the region's Pokédex (not the National Dex, that would be too much).
The second Battle in the OR/AS makes more sense to me. Seriously how does a Non-Flying Pokemon Battle in Space!! When it's a Legendary Pokemon I won't ask questions but when its a Gardevoir I have to ask these questions. I feel like the first battle should be to defeat it and then the Second Battle should be to catch it.
MY CANON: The Delta Stream of Mega Rayquaza created a sealed space with oxygen and gravity of a certain length, that allows your Pokemon to fight while they run and jump above M-Rayquaza. MY CANON 2: Your power as a Champion is so big that allow your Pokemon to fight in space.
My favorite part is the jingle that plays right after the bells. Itstarts slow, but speeds as if Deoxys is awakening. It also has a mysterious theme as you fight a mysterious being of unknown origin, and also a bit reverent or some other similar word. The rest of the song is just great to listen to though.

When I first encountered Deoxys in my ol' FireRed game, I thought it was gonna be like an item or special trainer battle when I kept running up to the triangle but when Deoxys showed up & the theme started my eyes went wide. It was so epic for little me. Ever since then, that theme has been stuck clearly in my memories ever since.
I remember how I caught Deoxys, it was right after the Raquaza fight and had no idea that it kept going. I already saved before fighting Raquaza and thought "hey, let's throw a premier ball at it" and to my fucking surprise I caught it at full health somehow. I was flipping out and couldn't believe what I just saw.
I find it interesting how the Deoxys theme also plays on FR/LG, a game that has no legendary theme except for the one that is basically a higher pitched version of the wild encounter theme and plays for every single legendary you can emcounter in this game. Except for Deoxys. This makes its theme completely stand out and I bet people who experienced the Deoxys fight blind back in the day were mindblown hearing a battle theme dedicated for one single legendary
Omega Ruby was my first Time ever Owning a deoxys. I caught it my first try and it was a hilarious yet tedious capture. I started with over 80 ultra balls, manged to freeze it with swamperts Ice Beam and lower it to almost low red health, and it never thawed out. Despite all that, it still took almost all my ultra balls to catch it. I had 2 Ultra balls left after catching it!

Wow. The first clip brings back memories of me using a gameshark (to the extent of breaking my game). Also, if anyone doesn't know, before you fight Deoxys; Your footsteps are important. You have to walk in a specific way when you approach the triangle. Otherwise it'll go back to the middle and you'll have to start over. You made it look like this doesn't even exist. *Good job.*
Look, I’ll be honest My 13 year old mind was completely blown when he saw that the elusive Deoxys was the one inside the meteorite, that I was going to be able to catch my very own Deoxys! I started with Gen 4 so I missed the Birth Island Deoxys event, only knowing about it because of UA-cam videos like this one.
So this is my first time finding out you can catch a deoxys in FR/LG. Had the game since it came out and completed it numerous time. I. AM. FANGIRLING.

I’d never seen the Deoxys thing before when I played ORAS, it slows started dawning on me what I was looking at. When I saw the arms colors I was like, “No... Way...” Then it burst and came at me, I shouted “DEOXYS?!?!” then closed my 3DS and kept reopening it until the battle kicked in. Just to make sure I was looking at Deoxys and not something else.

grew up on the original ruby/sapphire and emerald. it was awesome to see the way the fight was remastered in oras, especially when i didnt realize it was gonna happen at a time like that.
Up to this day, ORAS's intro to the battle gives me shivers. It's just so damn amazing, y'know? The moment I saw the triangle I realized what was about to happen, it was just so epic hahaha

The scariest thing about Deoxys is the implication that comes from it being within the meteor. Your told in game that meteors have periodically come towards the planet in such a consistent and often manner that Rayquaza wakes up essentially ready to go because of the Dragon People and their ability to time out when a meteor is coming. And the Meteors have been steadily getting bigger. This time though, wherever the meteor came from, it was decided that meteor may not be enough. After it was destroyed, the plan B inside came to life. The payload was Deoxys, which immediately attacked mind you. And Deoxys is STRONGER THAN MEGA FUCKING RAYQUZA. Were it not for your character, Deoxys would’ve blown past you and made certain that the world blew up. If you had lost the battle, Deoxys would’ve attacked everyone else until there was nobody left to attack. Deoxys came from a place where it was decided that Deoxys was good Enough. Okay? Do you see the fear now? Wherever Deoxys came from, there’s possibly MORE just like it, or not GREATER than it!! There is an entire species of Alien Pokémon that fucking want us all Dead. DEAD.

It’s so nostalgia chilling and so clever to have deoxys still keep its lore of being moved around in a triangle to appear!! I still remember playing ORAS after destroying that meteor, and the moment I saw that triangle, I had that moment of realization that I was gonna be battling Deoxys in fucking outer space. And when that triangle started to move about and Deoxys showed itself, I had never been so hyped playing a Pokemon game ever. It was a really surreal feeling, ORAS definitely was an amazing remake of my favorite region.
I love that ORAS made Deoxys obtainable through normal gameplay and like the original event you can catch it so you actually own it rather than have it just be given away to you and you cannot rename it due to having a different OT. The next Mythical that would get this treatment is Celebi in the Virtual Console version of Crystal as a post-Elite Four reward.
I wish future games would do this with ones like Mew and Jirachi. Even if it's a big requirement like filling up the region's Pokédex (not the National Dex, that would be too much).

When it's a Legendary Pokemon I won't ask questions but when its a Gardevoir I have to ask these questions. My favorite part is the jingle that plays right after the bells. Itstarts slow, but speeds as if Deoxys is awakening. It also has a mysterious theme as you fight a mysterious being of unknown origin, and also a bit reverent or some other similar word. The rest of the song is just great to listen to though.

When I first encountered Deoxys in my ol' FireRed game, I thought it was gonna be like an item or special trainer battle when I kept running up to the triangle but when Deoxys showed up & the theme started my eyes went wide. It was so epic for little me. Ever since then, that theme has been stuck clearly in my memories ever since.
When the deoxy ran out of pp for moves, it just straight up commit suicide.

I remember how I caught Deoxys, it was right after the Raquaza fight and had no idea that it kept going. I already saved before fighting Raquaza and thought "hey, let's throw a premier ball at it" and to my fucking surprise I caught it at full health somehow. I was flipping out and couldn't believe what I just saw.
So, to clarify for everyone, humanity's first contact with an alien species ends with said alien being enslaved by a 10 year-old. I love these games.

I find it interesting how the Deoxys theme also plays on FR/LG, a game that has no legendary theme except for the one that is basically a higher pitched version of the wild encounter theme and plays for every single legendary you can emcounter in this game. Except for Deoxys.
This makes its theme completely stand out and I bet people who experienced the Deoxys fight blind back in the day were mindblown hearing a battle theme dedicated for one single legendary

Omega Ruby was my first Time ever Owning a deoxys. I caught it my first try and it was a hilarious yet tedious capture. I started with over 80 ultra balls, manged to freeze it with swamperts Ice Beam and lower it to almost low red health, and it never thawed out. Despite all that, it still took almost all my ultra balls to catch it. I had 2 Ultra balls left after catching it!

I’d never seen the Deoxys thing before when I played ORAS, it slows started dawning on me what I was looking at. When I saw the arms colors I was like, “No... Way...” Then it burst and came at me, I shouted “DEOXYS?!?!” then closed my 3DS and kept reopening it until the battle kicked in. Just to make sure I was looking at Deoxys and not something else.
I've always used premier balls for legendaries, they just seem the best, caught kyogre groudon and all regis with 'em
