I was born at home and delivered by our district nurse, way back. She became quite famous among the villagers she served and much loved by the young Mothers. My Dad christened her car Stuka due to the high pitch scream the tortured Morris made - the result of never having experienced a gear higher than second its entire life. Our nurse deemed third excessive and fourth ridiculous.

Trained in the Great War. No men left afterwards to marry. The happy life of a working spinster, loved and valued by the whole community.
I love the little glances the amateur actors give to whoever is directing them. And the glorious wartime sunshine.

What a breath of fresh air. How beautiful our country used to be, the people pleasant and accommodating, and the lack of vehicles on the roads. It must have been heavenly to live back then. I know they had hardships the likes of which we can only imagine but it bred better characters, not like the spoiled, self-obsessed monsters we have today. Manners was the thing of the day, everyone talking to each other as though they'd known them for years without prejudice and not a black face amongst them. I would love to have lived in that era of my country instead of this waking nightmare I am living through today.
