Should I trade futures or CFDs? CFD trading vs futures contracts: What is the difference? Futures vs CFDs. CFDs aren't available in the USA. But there we have futures. OK.
The big thing is that future sizes are fixed - if you are trading the Dow - YM that's $5 a point. If you trade crude oil that's $10 a point. They also have micro products which are a tenth of those.

I think the only reason to trade futures is if youre playing long positions days or weeks at a time and you dont want to get your profits eaten by swap fees

Imagine forgetting the expiry date of oil futures and they fucking deliver a barel of crude oil at your address.

Futures, especially the larges ones (S&P, Crude etc) will be more liquid than CFD options.

Binance perpetual futures are great... you can trade extremely small positions and your pnl is being calculated with 8 numbers after the decimal point... so even if you trade a micro size and its not really even possible to devide a dollar into such small increments, you can analyse if youre positive or negative... its essential an testnet but with your money and you can increase the size slowly as you progress

@@ukspreadbetting You’d think the whole SBF debacle would’ve got through to people. Oh well, they will learn the hard way - unless regulation comes.. and soon.

The volume of the cfd doesn't affect the underlying asset. But they affect the spread of the cfd on the broker. Is this correct?

The volume of the CFD will impact the underlying asset. If the CFD order is large and the asset is illiquid the broker might go out in the market and buy the shares say (if long) which will push the underlying asset up. But I've noticed that often it is possible to buy volumes on a CFD in market size (at a particular price) that is often bigger than what's immediately available in the underlying market. With a CFD provider with Direct Market Access all volumes will impact the underlying asset.

I messaged you a while back, I'm now on a demo trading gold and my new strategy is hunting stop losses, when the downtrend strong. I look at the old me and think where I'd get in and loose money. And I go against the trend there, with divergence of course. My god its a tricky but good strategy, I look at it and think that's going down so I buy low

Definitely futures are much better. That's why all institutes trade futures.

It is really a matter of opinion and what suits you but it doesn't prevent one from utilising both. Futures aren't that popular in Europe.

I think not. Most brokers don't allow USA clients because of that.
