This broke my heart, I'm from Scotland, he was guilty! The system has undoubtedly failed this poor man. Sending huge condolences to his family. I'm utterly disgusted. Thank you for covering this xxx
The jury got it right. Many black people (and others) on the subway that day, approached Daniel Penny to thank him, shake his hand & thank the other people who helped to restrain Jordan Neely as well. The jury got this one right, in my opinion. ETA: I don't agree with people celebrating outside the Courthouse, at all. My heart goes out to his family.
I'll have to agree to disagree. I'm pleased with this outcome. ❤ I just think race should be taken out of things and everyone should be held to the same standards and expectations.
Agree to disagree. All love always ❤❤❤ I mean it shouldn’t have came to that at the same way gypsy shouldn’t have came to deciding it was her right to take a life either. Mentally ill and mentally disabled people are not less worthy than others and no citizen is entitled to take a life. Under no circumstances. You do not have to chokehold for 6 minutes and kill somebody in order to protect other people. That’s an excuse at the same way gypsy rose uses abuse as an excuse. it was recorded. There was no evidence that anybody else was at Physical risk of their life because of this man that’s a totally different situation that would be defense and self-defense which this was not. I don’t really have a solid opinion on this one way or another on the acquittal, I’ve teetered but I am of the same opinion mostly. The only opinion I gave here was the fact that I was disappointed in a celebrity from my hometown and state getting involved politically-that I am disappointed in. I accept all thoughts, feelings opinions. The thing about thoughts, feelings and opinions is that no one person is correct or right based on their own. It doesn’t matter if it’s accidental or if it’s not accidental taking a life is still taking a life and the party guilty is the party guilty. The same way many people think gypsy Rose should be serving 30 years to life for what she did anybody that takes the life deliberately whether it’s planned five years ahead or five seconds before, choosing to get involved and be so aggressive that you take somebody’s life is in fact a direct result of your actions and choices. Sadly. He did do it. He’s the only one who did do it. That is his guilt and responsibility. This is how these cases become very polarizing. Knowing that the man was acting erratically, should’ve been the first call to law-enforcement and the Mobile Crisis unit. There’s mentally ill and mentally disabled people on the streets all the time you can’t just go kill them because you think that they pose a risk to somebody else. Same way gypsy wasn’t entitled to kill her mother after attempting to take her life twice four years prior and then manipulating somebody for three years into helping her. Doesn’t matter if her mother was an abuser or if she was not an abuser. I think people just gotta get out of the mindset that certain people‘s lives are more valuable than other peoples. And I know that this was about race for a lot of people, but they’re missing the point and the principle. ❤🙏🏻 I just don’t agree that he should’ve got off completely. I mean he was responsible that wasn’t accidental. He was putting him in a chokehold for six minutes. That’s intentional. Mentally ill or mentally disabled or not doesn’t mean your life is less valuable and that it’s OK when somebody decides to take it. To me, it’s hypocritical to say that it’s OK for this man to pass away, but not Dee Dee Blanchard. It’s not OK for anybody to murder another human being no matter how or why they justify doing it. Just my thoughts on that part.
@@StraightOutOfContextWithBarbie I agree, unfortunately mental health care is awful in the United States. The family should’ve recognized this it’s money grab.
That’s the thing that’s wrong with the mental health system is that everybody thinks that we’re so evolved and modern yet we’re not. Mentally ill and mentally disabled people are not acutely aware that they need to help nor do they have the resources and supports to utilize to get it in many areas.
Oftentimes those families have been forced to step away for their own health and safety. If the patient won't engage in therapy or take their medications. It can become dangerous for the people around them and they have to step away.
@@pembrokelove that too. Especially when somebody is over the age of 18 they are technically an adult and you cannot force them to do anything they don’t want to do.

I just wanna know where it was the family of this homeless mentally ill man. That’s what’s wrong. The family didn’t have his back.

@ yes the family should know that it wasn’t a race thing. It was a safety thing.
