Agreed with everything you said, I kept waiting for a time travel reveal and it never happened! Also I wish I knew where exactly all of the the people in cryostasis were going and why could the pilot make that voyage without being asleep the entire time
I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with 65. It's totally fair. I thought it was exactly the kind of B Saturday matinee type of movie I was hoping it would be, and I was even pleasantly surprised at the things I wasn't expecting, like there not being a time travel angle, Earth being the "alien" world, and Mills coming from another planet. It really felt like Sci Fi from the Fifties or Sixties, drummed up with modern day effects. Also, the sound of the alert coming from the instrument panel, after he crashed on Earth, as he was regaining consciousness, was the sound of the Martian War Machine powering up its heat ray from the 1953 George Pal War of the Worlds. I got a kick out of that. I think time's going to be kind to this one. I also had an opposite reaction to the whole dinosaur angle. The more I watched the movie, the more I thought this was a better "Jurassic World" movie than Jurassic World, at least in regards to something like Jurassic World Dominion (although I really think the drive-in sequence should have remained in the theatrical cut; it would've really served the movie, subtextually if at all, to cement its place as a pure "drive-in" entertainment, and probably would have been that movie's saving grace). One regret I had, though, throughout the movie, was how great this would have been, not only in Dolby, but in 3D. It not only would have benefited the film by presentation standards, it would have worked for the film aesthetically, considering how much of a throwback pedigree it seemed to have.
I thought it was a nice, funny little detail for Mills to call them aliens. It feels weird because we don't think of them as aliens, but to him they definitely are. Also, she was complaining about not knowing enough about his background and qualifications, but you can clearly tell from how he handles himself and his weapons that he has some kind of military or marine-like training, which I feel like that's all we really need to know.
Nothing in this movie mattered. Where they come from, where they go, when they are, none of it. Them not being able to speak to each other was on a long list of shit that DIDN'T MATTER.
Who would be so awesome to see you make a prequel to this movie as well That could explain how Adam driver got together with 35 passengers he was transporting And where were all these 35 different people headed to were they all headed to 35 different places? 1:57
Why is it so hard for people to comprehend humans existing outside of Earth? Star Wars did the exact same thing and no one had issues with that. This is basically like if some people from Star Wars found themselves on Earth. No time travel necessary.
I hope they make at least two sequels to the movie 65 million years ago with Adam driver I think Adam is female co-star did a great job acting In it 65 million years ago with Adam drivers truly now one of my favorite movies of all time I am totally in love with this movie So you are wrong girl And everything doesn't always have to be so cut and dry and to always make total sense to be a great movie 4:37
Nooo! I always had a feeling it’d be bad (and not in a fun way), but then I caught on to your hype and I started thinking maybe it’d be good 😂 I’m a victim of gaslighting
I personally liked this movie, but I agree that the girl should have talked. And to answer an earlier point. They are supposed to be aliens that evolved to be humanoid. Similar to Star Wars. I wish there were more characters in the film to show the Dinos killing capabilities. I will say; at least it’s better than most B movies with dinosaurs lol. I just hope someday we can get a cool Turok movie!
Thought about this movie after it was over and it made me lower my Letterboxd score even more. I think I'm being generous with my 2 Stars. On my M Night rewatch I skipped 'After Earth' and now I'm wishing I watched that instead.
That’s a shame I had high hopes for this one I trust your review though, loving your reviews and especially the fact that your effortlessly beautiful in each one… sorry I had to say it 😂 I’d still listen if it was podcast you have a nice voice too 🥰
All the reviewers I trust (including you of course) are saying it's a waste of time and my heart goes out to you guys for enduring this. Also not a great run for driver. White noise and now this.
I honestly liked White Noise despite it being a flop, at the very least it was a role much better suited to Adam Driver. But yeah, bummer that this one was also a bust.
I would say no because it was SO SLOPPY and hard to watch. I was SOOOOOOO excited for this and it sucked so bad😫there really wasn’t that much dinosaur action to be honest, they cut away a lot! It frustrated me.
I couldn't agree more it is painfully generic, so many jump scare moments and weak writing, especially the bizarre premise of mills being supposedly part of some space faring species before man? I still don't understand that opening revelation. It was very predictable, the dinosaurs were absolutely useless once they got close (slowly walk up before finishing them off but someone saves them) he is apparently part of some high tech space faring species and yet appears human, speaks English and acts and behaves as one, and while the CGI was incredible and realistic, so many scenes were shot in the dark and you couldn't see them that well so it was kind of a waste. And the parts where the Trex was ruthlessly pursuing them was just excessive, why would it chew on a giant piece of metal (their ship) to get at them, it probably would of given up and went off to find easier prey, so many movies do this same approach, it's so unrealistic. A predator is ruthless, opportunistic, stalks its prey, it doesn't slow down as soon as it gets to them, it goes for the killing blow before the prey realizes, its just set up to where the characters are never in any real danger and can always be saved by something
Unless Adam Driver is walking around without his shirt on for half the movie I think I'll skip this one until its streaming. John Oliver might still go see it.
Haven't scene but in the trailer was good up until the showed the dinos. When I saw the T-Rex silhouette in the waterfall it looked oddly geometrical and creepy. I thought we were getting weird looking dinos but then they showed more and I guess I hyped myself up.
I went last night and it was so bad. God I wish I’d just rewatched Planet of Dinosaur instead. The effects were so terribly staged there’s multiple points you can’t tell what’s happening. Every action the characters take feels completely brain dead. And the dinosaur designs are TERRIBLE in my opinion. They’re so ugly and boring and similar! Where were the sauropods (long necks), ceratopsians, etc, etc? I’m fine with turning dinosaurs into inaccurate lizard monsters if your designs are at least interesting, but these were some of the worst King Kong (2005) knock-offs I’ve ever seen.
Everybody want my man to be a movie star so bad but the dude lacks charisma. There’s nothing there there. The eyes give it away. They shout “I don’t deserve this success and I hope the world don’t find out!” JoM
that the girl doesnt speak english, ok, i can life with that but why on earth does he talks all the time to her, and not like simple words but full sentences. in the beginning there a scene where he trys to explain the whole situation, in english, but when she tries to say one word hes like "shut up i dont understand you "
It didn't hook me in because I'm not drawn action titles (they are too rediculous these days and are often watered down to cater to the Chinese market), but I sorry it wasn't what you thought it was! At least you were able to articulate how you felt about it in a productive way that made it worth having watched!
Girl you are crazy that movie 65 million years ago with Adam driver is awesome it's not one of my all-time favorite movies so you are a big time wrong about that movie girl
65 million years ago with Adam driver is now one of my all-time favorite movies of all time I am totally in love with that movie Adam driver and his female co-star did a great job acting in that movie 🍿🎥 I pray to God there will be a a follow-up sequel to that Showing him and that girl going home to live with his wife happily ever after Add more adventures after that I really pray to God that they make two sequels to the movie 65 million years ago
Adam Driver has been in some really disappointing and bad movies. If there’s one thing he needs more than a haircut it’s being in a good movie for once.
I hope they make at least two sequels to the movie 65 million years ago with Adam driver I think Adam is female co-star did a great job acting In it 65 million years ago with Adam drivers truly now one of my favorite movies of all time I am totally in love with this movie So you are wrong girl And everything doesn't always have to be so cut and dry and to always make total sense 5:10 to be a great movie
They named the movie after the anticipated Rotten Tomatoes audience score
They overshot it then hahaha
Times 2
Agreed with everything you said, I kept waiting for a time travel reveal and it never happened! Also I wish I knew where exactly all of the the people in cryostasis were going and why could the pilot make that voyage without being asleep the entire time
Exactly, so many details totally glossed over😭
god damn it Hollywood why can't you do anything right these days? It feels like there aren't any good writers anymore
Agreed!
I think I'll never get over this 😔
And you're right!! We need a good dinosaur movie to enjoy these days

I completely agree. They seriously fumbled the bag on that one.

All good, Secret Superstar is STILL (somehow) on Netflix, CLEANSE YOUR PALATE!
Actually checked my phone in the middle... I never do that.
I was tempted
I love the passion in your review!
Thank you!!

Great Review Havent Seen This Movie Yet But After Hearing The Negative Reviews I Might Wait Till Its Out Of Theaters To Check It Out
I am so sorry for your loss of 65
Thank you for your kind words in this trying time🙏🏼
Couldn't agree more with everything you said!
I was wondering about this, but thanks for confirming my fears. Subscribed.
Appreciate it🙌🏼

Noooooo :( im so sad the idea was so cool!
Worse than After Earth im crying this is my heartbreak of the month, and I already got ghosted yesterday
Sorry about both😭

This is basically like if some people from Star Wars found themselves on Earth. No time travel necessary.
Just went back from seeing the movie and this is by far the best review. This is exactly how I feel
Appreciate it, sorry you were also disappointed though😂

Definitely a bummer to hear this about the film, but I always really like watching your reviews! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching Anthony!!🙌🏼

I finally saw this garbage movie. OMG I'm glad I watched your review and skipped in theaters.

LOL, i honestly might think After Earth is better. Sorry you didn’t like it😂 colossal missed opportunity

thanks for the review!... as a HUGE Jurassic Park fan, do you think I could still enjoy this movie with some generic action fun?
I would say no because it was SO SLOPPY and hard to watch. I was SOOOOOOO excited for this and it sucked so bad😫there really wasn’t that much dinosaur action to be honest, they cut away a lot! It frustrated me.
I was so hyped for this movie! I didn’t hate it, but it could’ve been so much better 😭
I’m seeing it tomorrow I’m
Nervous but hopefully I’ll enjoy it or not
Nice review

you're spot on with this one unfortunately ! disappointing indeed
I mean this was a mess
I love dinos and expected to enjoy it but forced myself to get through
so true queen.

Yeah, i thought the VFX were solid but it’s very standard design. Definitely looked better in the movie than the trailer though
Thanks for the warning! 🙂
I'm glad I didn't waste my time watching this. This movie looks very boring.
bummer. well, you saved me six bucks and 90 minutes.
Subbed for the Taylor Swift reference.

Aw no :( This is so disappointing to hear. Great review as always
better or worse than after earth?
Ehhh i think after earth honestly had some more compelling sequences

I love Adam driver as an actor but i think he is suited for a very particular kind of role (not this one lol)
@Sydney V Yes yes you’re right. You go Adam! Women are nicer than men haha. JoM
was considering watching this yesterday but glad i chose creed 3 instead!
Much better choice!😂
A bad Adam driver movie after Star wars?👀
Well, my boy Adam is the lead 8n Megalopolis so...He can put this failure behind him quickly 😎
I can’t wait👀👀

Just watch Cocaine Bear instead
Surely there are better options

Boring stuff, basically government contracted research at the moment!
Sad. But true 😞 so aggressively mediocre

So your saying it compares to Inglorious Basterds?
Quite the opposite

Julianna will be very disappointed next time I hear from her 😂😭
Wait who tf is Julianna?😂
Very much the most wasted potential I've witnessed. I didn't even bother to think with the glaring flaws, it was too dull to even bother, lol.
This movie has so many baffling choices, it is insane how it got made!
Awesome review, Sydney! I think the trailer over-sold this especially with the directors, producer and main star Adam Driver 😞
