Thanks for the useful review. Having watched your review, I've just bought one of these shredders, direct from Hyundai's e Bay shop. Their website and Amazon were showing no stock. They sell various grades of returned machines. Mine was A grade, unused. I was replacing a 20-year old Bosch machine, similar way of working. First impressions are very favourable, and a good value machine. Greetings from north Wales, UK.

Thanks for the review and discount code. This machine works very well for chipping hedge trimming and is much better than burning or taking to the recycling centre. I was surprised at how quickly material was processed. It is best for substantial branches and not as good for more spindly material such as thin dogwood stems. Thanks again.

Thanks for an informative review. Do you know if the motor is brushless?

Not sure, but I believe it is not brushless. Thanks, Mark

I had a similar machine. Before buying one consider if you really can be bothered to feed all your garden waste one stick at a time. I was looking for an easier way than car boot and the local tip.
Ask if it can do brambles and ivy!

Thanks for you feedback. Yes this will do the branches very well. We recently cut several shrubs and small trees and used this shredder on the branches and produced bucket loads of wood chipping that are now on the beds preventing weeds. The green stuff was then placed in the green waste bins. Yes there is some sorting to do first, however it would have taken weeks to get rid of the larger branches in the bins.

I find it works well on twigs and branches without leaves. Very leafy material easily clogs up, using the pusher just compacts it. It is powerful but doesn't shred material as fine as the Bosch AXT which also has the advantage of just loosening a knob to access the cutter to free jams.

Thanks for your comment! I appreciate your insights. During my testing, I didn't experience issues with leafy material clogging up, but it's helpful to know that others have had different experiences. The Bosch AXT does have advantages like finer shredding and easier jam clearing. Both models have their strengths, so it depends on your specific needs.

Thanks for the review. I am considering purchasing this shredder since my old one broke. Could you tell me if the blades can be sharpened or replaced when they become dull?

Is this device suitable for chipping planks from old pallets? Please advise. Thank you so much for this interesting review.

No, it will not chip planks, but naturally it all depends on the size and width. Please see my video for sizes. Thanks

Thanks for the second domestic garden shredder review. I have a similar one and the old type with spinning blades. All do quite well and I would be lost without them, I compost the chippings for use next year.
But now I can afford better or dearer, is there any chance of reviewing the Eliet Neo2 Electric Garden Shredder? It is on my wish list.

Hi Mark, As you will know old hay is too stalky to compost fully as is. We get lots of old hay from a livery stable we run and I'm looking for a way to shred the hay before composting. Do you think this shredder will perform well doing that? My concern is getting the hay through the opening, it looks like it may be a fiddly job!

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  9 місяців тому

Hi, no I don't think this will perform well on hay due the way in which the blade/drum cutting system works. Sorry

If you’re still trying to figure this out, have you tried mowing it.
Lay the hay out in strips and go over it with a good *powerful mower.
I’ve mulched like this for decades.
      Good luck.
*I am making the assumption that, as you run stables, that you have one in your arsenal. 😄

I don't like the fact that you have to adjust the cutting mechanism with the knob till it makes a grinding noise. Hyundai should have designed some form of self-adjustment. Also, the shredder doesn't seem particularly quiet. I have a Bosch 23-year-old silent shredder AXT 1600 and it is very quiet. But it has a big problem with clogging when leafy branches are put through. On the Hyundai I really like the access plate to remove clogging.

Thanks for the review, but it came across as not that well designed. The legs are a bit stupid to have to strip them completely down to reduce storage space. Why did they not fit a sprung loaded tube in the axle? You could then just spring the axle apart, then hinge the legs up out of the way. Or, better still, fit one wheel to each leg that could lock into place for transport. The blade adjustment seems utterly pointless surely, How difficult is it, to set the blade height correctly at the factory, so 0/10 for that. You did not mention much about the most important part, the cutter mechanism. Is there just one blade on the disc or two? Just one will contribute vibration which is not good, two I consider essential as well as reducing vibration, will also decrease the the height of the chips - much, much better for mulching. You did not mention the height of the chips - (they looked about 3/4 inch thick), nor did you try a piece of 44mm dia wood as you said you would. The top access hole does not seem to be very big, would a 44mm branch actually fit in? The cutter access seems to me to be completely useless. If there is a jam, I just want to quickly unhinge the complete top half to obtain total access (with a safety microswitch of course). Certainly not go hunting around for an allen key, then drop a fiddly screw into long grass. Then, stick my hand in (with gloves on of course), and try and keep them away from the sharp edges whilst trying to feel what is jamming the disc. Does the panel have any safety feature? Finally, what does the cutter cut against? I have had two Al-Ko shredders, but they used the edge of the feed tube (at an angle) to cut against. Both of them had the edge just worn completely down, so you had a knife edge trying to cut wood against a rounded corner. Result? long strips of damaged material and constant jams.

Thank you for your detailed and insightful feedback on the Hyundai HYCH2800ES Garden Shredder review. You've raised several important points that I should have covered more thoroughly in my review, and I appreciate you bringing these to my attention.
You're right about the leg design - a spring-loaded axle or lockable wheels would indeed be more practical for storage and transport. I agree that the blade adjustment feature seems unnecessary and potentially problematic.
I apologise for not providing more details about the cutter mechanism. You're correct that the number of blades is crucial for performance and vibration reduction.
Regarding the 44mm branch test, you're right that I didn't follow through on that, and I should have. The top access hole size is indeed an important consideration.
Thank you for your feedback and helping me improve the quality and thoroughness of my reviews. Your feedback is invaluable, and I'll strive to address these important aspects in future garden shredder reviews.
      Mark

Feeding that thing one twig at a time looks painful... I'd rather have a proper petrol one with a big hopper

Thanks for the review sure looks like good shredder. The 28Kw motor sure looks like a lot more power than the 2.4Kw we get here in Australia. I would like to know if you can buy them in Australia. The Hyundai web site does not list shredders in their power products section.
