WOW! As amazing as the horn section is (understatement!) the band is cooking! Billy Hart really lighting a fire under that band, Rufus and Phil as well.
That's Billy, always bringing fire to a group.
This was the first live-streamed concert I ever saw. My dad, also a sax player, sat with me to watch it and we were blown away! 🎷😄
This is the best Dave Liebman that I have ever heard! He's on fire.
True dat, 'cause somebody called the fire department during his solo.
So very true! Found myself talking to myself saying "Damn that cat can play!"
🎷❤️🙏
Mike at 17:17 to 17:29 build up is super fun! He is so clear even with the intense push from this stage of players. I think Trane would smile upon these brilliant saxophone masters!
That's what you call the "Full Liebman". Legend has it that you can still hear him soloing over the changes.
Mike's reaction with Lovano hits the bridge. Priceless. Mike loved music so much, his enthusiasm is contagious. Billy Hart is shoveling coal in the fire like there's no tomorrow! Rufus is walking all over the place! Love Joe's inside-out approach. Joe and Mike are two of my all time favorites, wonderful to hear them together! (Shawn J)
It was certainly one of the great nights of my life.
Amazing playing all around. Billy Hart is a force of nature!
Thank You Jazz video guy! From an old bass player from Minneapolis
Great stuff as always. Each member of this band are doing outstanding things. However when Mike comes in increases their intensity. Fortunately YT exist with all these wonderfull videos. There is a full Liebman show in Germany with Richie Beirach, Frank Tusa, Jeff Williams and Badal Roy.
The energy these guys show in these performances, I even have to name another performance from Jerry Bergonzi, Mick Goodrick, Mike Richmond and Adam Nussbaum seems supernatural.
I wonder how rich the learning experiences might have been on that Liebman's loft.
@Bass N Brass why if i may ask?
Just recently got my very first Dave Liebman record, 'The Elements -Water' w/ Cecil McBee, Billy Hart and Pat Metheny. Absolutely amazing album one of the best Modern Jazz Records I've ver listened to, not just the playing but the compositions and interactivity/chemistry are stellar.
Glad you like it. A classic.
I love all of these guys but Mike has a really emotional range that makes him so much more listenable. Focus too.
Absolutely.
Just WONDERFUL ! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting David Liebman a couple times while living in Chicago. My drum teacher had worked with David in the past. What a “Cool Cat !” Nice guy, but intense about the music.
No wallflower, Mr. Liebman.
@@JazzVideoGuy … yes.
Oh my God, how Wonderful! Thank you for this
Horns aplenty! Straight ahead....a cooker! Great post man...thanks!
That was an inspiring week at Birdland -- it sticks in my memory. You yourself did a great job documenting it.
Glad you were there. Something we'll always remember.

@@JazzVideoGuy Thanks JVG. Auto correct" strikes again!

The only thing that remains is the memory. .. and they shall remain for ever.
so true
Royal 🎷🎷🎷🎷🥁🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👍💖🔥
Amazing 👏
yup
Bello.....top.
C’mon , isn’t it true that Liebman is just furious onstage about not having any damn heat for all those years in his loft and is just ranting about it through his horn?
I mean, who doesn’t know this from just one look?👀
* In my Larry David voice*
😅😂🤣😂
Thank you @jazzvideoguy
This is awesome as always.
I can’t thank you enough for all you do and for keeping on keeping.
Peace and love✌🏾
You're a funny guy. Thanks for the kind words.
@@JazzVideoGuy No, NEW YORKERS and thereabouts, that’s who’s hilarious 😂
Even @Marcus Miller
What is it , the water?
Beats me, just funny as hell😂😅😆
lol, they were bringing their own heat!
@@thebreathalyzer 🤣😂😅
Liebman is Larry David's twin brother from another Brooklyn Jewish mother :)
Holy shit
Mike’s playing is a perfect combination of intellectual and emotional expression. There’s this deliberate mathematical precision in his phrasing, but it’s so emotionally charged.
Nevertheless, all three are absolutely wonderful.
yes, exactly
Ed O'Neill on piano
Bloody HELL, Bret!! WHOAHH!!!
Fasten your seat belt.
Equal People.
Horns are amazing. Solos are astounding.... Why so much crash crash bang bang on the cymbols.... Way way overkill for me
I hear you, but if you were there, as I was, you might feel differently.
Brecker is FAR too modest.
For sure
Liebs played way too long
I'll let him know.
Mike smokes everyone 💪🏽
He had a way of doing that, for sure.
I doubt that Mike would have put "humanitarian" in his introduction. Sounds douchey.
What word would you use?
