Funny, was at that same farmers market with my wife and kids and ran into Huell, around the time of the video. He was alone and so engaging. I got the impression he was reconnoitering for a future show. Before you know it a toothless street urchin runs up and says, “there’s a gluten-free baker you have to see, come on!” And grabs Huell by the arm and drags him away. He turns to us and says , “this happens all the time, sorry.” Sweet guy.
I've met people who can't stand Huell or his memory and think he's a poster child for what's wrong with California. The kind of people who aren't big on tolerance, see it as a weakness bordering on criminal stupidity. I doubt if you would see any of them at this Farmers Market. As hard as that kind of thinking is to understand it makes you hope someone else like Huell will emerge and continue his work, which was to help unite the diverse populace. It reached out to all of us and said, 'here you are'.
Lol, 7:48 he takes a bite of the sugar free, dairy free, flavor free, tofu lime "UN-cheesecake". He's silent. No yummy sounds, just politely bobbing his head up and down. She say's, "Good huh?" He stays silent, as they instantly cut away. You know it sucked! When he likes something, he lets you know.
At one time way back in the 1600's, the British absolutely fell in love with pepper. It was worth more than gold per weight. At first they were getting it all in Africa but later they went on to expand the search and found it in India and Indonesia. Now the whole world loves pepper. And peppers and chilies are especially loved here in California, Mexico and Central and South America.
I love the energy Huell !!
Sure do miss Huell.
Huell is a mans man, amazing reporter with so much charisma!

Today Huell could have done an entire series on booths in Farmers Markets in California.
Heull used to go search for California's Gold without realizing he was California's gold.
