I just watched hobbit and LOTR and Im stuck! And I decided to do this video with Legolas^^ Hope you like it and I own nothing!

And while we tend to think of Legolas as “a standard elf” that’s actually a meta perspective. Within Tolkien’s legendarium he very much is not. Few other elves display such an appreciation for the talents of other races: indeed, most take a rather dim view of anything non-elvish in origin even if they aren’t outright racist. That plus his strong sense of fairness and loyalty to his friends put him in some truly august company within the Legendarium. He walks now with Mablung and Beleg Cúthalion beneath the trees that never die.

The song expresses his personality really well - unfortunately these movies give us so few glimpses into his real soul alchemy. Somebody who "tries to reach the things he can't see", "chooses another way", and thinks these things are real, does NOT act like movie-Legolas! Movie-Legolas is ridiculous and immature, just like everybody else "doing what they all do" (e.g. "Omygawd, you made my pretty nose bleed! now all your kind must die" - that is not him, or his motivation for the Quest, or his history prior to it).
I don’t understand this take at all. Acting in harmony first with his King’s will, and then later Elrond’s as a member of the Fellowship, isn’t going with the crowd. It’s basic military discipline. If anything is out of character, it’s defying his father to stick up for the elf who is almost his sister. But that’s not in the books anyway, though it’s understandable.
