- In this video Lexi and I head out with my daughters Kalie and Kirsten and Kalie's boyfriend Juan to do a little canoe camping. This is a new experience for Kirsten and Juan so I also do a little teaching as well.
Great video! Love that place, can’t wait to get back there. 🍻
It's an awesome spot isn't it!
nice camping trip

Great VDO I’m very familiar with this area and I enjoy every trip there. What u saw on Mid Lake is a algae bloom, when the water is in this condition it is vey important to not come in contact with the water, u cannot purify it and u should not get it on ur skin. Also be careful with ur dog to not let her drink or swim in the water. Mid Lake has this condition nearly every year and it starts towards the end of July then gets worse through September until the lakes cool off.
Thank you. After some research I did fine out that it was an algae bloom. We definitely kept the dog out and touched it as little as possible. Crazy that it happens every year. I wonder what causes it for just that lake.
What an excellent way to spend time with your family! Lovely memories. Thanks for sharing it with us mate 👍
Yes, we had an excellent trip! Couldn't ask for better trip mates!
Looks like a great family trip. And a bonus, now with Lexi-cam!
Yes, we had a great time! And Lexi certainly enjoy filming a little bit herself!
Looks like a good time, hope the kids enjoyed it! What time of year was this? Big Island is on the radar for a trip next summer, hoping it's not a busy place...
Yes, the kids and I had a great time! I love the Big Island area. This was mid August, so peak canoeing season. Not busy at all. Only 1 other group there the whole four days. Never actually saw them until I got to the parking lot on the way out. Definitely recommend the place.
Nice trip Dan. You should do a video on what and how you pack for single carry. It's very hard to find this on UA-cam. I've really only seen it by Doug linker, thanks !
Thank you, we had a great time. I really love that area. That's a great idea on the single carry. I did release a couple of videos previously on lightweight gear I took on a trip to the McCormick Wilderness and another on how I outfit my canoe to portage but perhaps an update is in order. I will try to get one out.
