For today's cover, I visited a song from one of my favorite strategy games of all time (even if it is horribly unforgiving at times)! I've always really enjoyed the Intercept/Dogfight theme that plays when you send your interceptors after a UFO.
I had fun putting this one together, and I also had a bit of fun "animating" the little fighter jet sequences. I also decided to add the original "Battlescape1" track at the very end, it just sounded right to have that ambiance there at the end. Also, I don't know if its just me, but I sort of almost get a Duke Nukem vibe from this rendition.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the cover! ~DAR

"Mobius one, you are cleared to engage."
Well, Ace Combat game about alien invasion would probably going to be a banger
The invasion would be toast in Strangereal, between Belkan superweapons, the advanced planes of the later games, and pilots like Mobius 1, the aliens wouldn't even get to the surface alive
It's morbin time!
@@jmtrad1906 Morbing all over the boogies.
@@Jonnyg325 LOL
Usual depictions of aliens: Is it possible to get in contact with them? Negotiate peace? What is their ulterior motive? Or are we too primitive to understand?
X-COM: *i don't know why are you here but boy did you pick wrong planet to invade*
THE first Mars landing is made just so we can bash the aliens heads in.
Tbh, the aliens in XCOM came to Earth with plasma guns drawn upon first contact. Peace was *never* an option with them.
@@poljkuki one small step for man, one giant ass kick for all alienkind
Imagine humans invading alien planet with their XCOM spetsnaz

Nothing compared to the sheer terror the first time you sent an Interceptor against a Very Large UFO and saw it get vaporized instantly.
Fun Fact about X-Com: Interceptor
It was based on the Legendary Falcon 4.0's source code.
Huh, I never knew that about Interceptor. I _LOVE_ Falcon 4.0! ~DAR
Us navy/airforce when they detect a UFO
Love it - love it love it love it love it. Brings back some many fantastic memories.
Good fucking shit mate.
These Ps1 cutscenes are basically XCOM from the POV of the aircraft pilots. All the fun and badass music without the hard decisions. Good remix all the same.
Mobius ; Cypher oh the aliens are gonna feel the wrath of Razgriz
When you don't need super HD graphics, multyplayer or other modern shit to be a badass.
Though, some help getting it to run without going into hyperdrive on modern systems, is apreciated.
actual footage from inside NORAD today
This is fucking amazing, captures the die hard spirit of XCOM. AGGRESIVE ATTACK FTW!
Outstanding! If I play XCOM again, I'll be putting this into the game.
0:21 Mobius and Cipher? As in Ace Combat!? Hello, fellow ace combat fan!!!!!
Yep! Happy to see that someone has finally picked up on that little reference =)!
And I see the transport was named "Big Sky".
0:32 Mobius One shot one down!
I love you man! Two of my favorite fandoms together

Those who don't know. :D
Those who know. O.O
I’m really curious. What did the alien do
@@hershloodu8925 It triggered the events of 'X-COM: Terror From The Deep'.
@@PlanetZoidstar Really. I never knew the aliens caused that. Man they suck.
@@hershloodu8925 Very much so. There is even foreshadowing of the connection between Sectoids and Aquatoids, as the Sectoid Autospy Research says their biology hints at an aquatic origin.
Oh man I'd forgotten that. I literally thought he was trying to shoot down the Avenger.
Ha, cool you covered this one! Good ol' DOS times right?
I did miss out on this one back in the day, but presently I do have OpenXcom ready for launch ;-)
I like that your cymbal bells seem to be a bit more defined/pronounced here as compared to some of your DOOM covers (kinda missing them here & there in e.g. E1M1 😉)
NB: the game is known as 'UFO: Enemy Unknown' in Europe. (Yes, and then in 2012 they released 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown', that's like not confusing at all.. ;-))
I too missed out on this one early on. My first experience with it was about six years ago, through OpenXcom.
As for those ride cymbals, I think I had purposely made them quieter in some of my Doom covers, since they sounded a little distracting with the way I had them mixed. Now though, I definitely think they would've been fine if I turned them up just a tad bit more.
Also, something I've always wondered about, regarding the title of the new games: Why did they drop the hyphen between "X" and "COM"? Its a very minor thing, but it still makes me wonder.
Now that is how you save the world
Firaxis themselves remade this track recently as part of the latest XCOM 2 DLC, and to be honest, this one is better. Good work.
Wait, which track is it?
My goodness. If I could click thumbs up more than once I'd spam till next week. Right on.

An excellent version of one of my favorite songs from my favorite series of games!
Aliens: Highly Advanced FTL Spacecraft featuring Fusion reactors and warp drives.
XCOM: An F-15 on crack
Так держать, Ворон-2. Высылаем Рейнджер к месту крушения, задайте жару лунатикам !!!
That's gonna be an Aggressive Attack from me.
Man what a good hardcore ironman playthrough, can't wait to do it again next year.

This worked better than my morning coffee.
dude this is sick as f
👍
I was so bad at this game - well, probably mostly because I lack patience and would consider each setback as a devastating defeat - but I'd often start it up just to get to the intercept music, get my thrills and shut the game down again. A friend of mine was a gaming master (in my eyes at least). It was great fun to watch him play; I was there when he took down and attacked a mothership, when he finally left for Mars, and when he defeated the aliens there. A trip down memory lane! Thanks for making and posting this great cover version!
Step 1: Get Avalanche-Missiles, Step 2: Shoot down UFO's, Step 3: Learn that Etherials are fucking Assholes! :D Great cover, and nice Video! Cheers! :)
i dont remember that cgi ending to xcom 1, where is that from?
All the cutscenes in here should be from the PSX port of Xcom 1.
