Apparently his AI has increased chances to target Ogrepon if you bring her too. When she’s not in the field, he spreads his attacks out normally. But he focuses her down when she’s on the field. It’s p interesting
Judging by his reactions, he definitely does NOT want to see Ogerpon, and has his team wipe her out of the battlefield as quickly as possible. Pretty sensible call with the lore of Kitakami in mind

Then you once more came along and stole that too. You took his friends, his sister, his idol, his worldviews, and even his personality, in a way. This was the day Kieran was at his lowest. For the player, it was a Tuesday.

I don’t. He was a weak shy kid in the beginning who obsessed over ogrepon because it was strong. All he ever wanted was to be strong so people wouldn’t call him weak anymore. Once he gets strong he becomes a bully to everyone else. He never cared to better himself and grow, only wanted to take revenge on his bullies

The biggest proof that the script is against Cass is that the master ball has broken, Unfortunately the child is not a protagonist and is left with nothing...I don't know why there are those who are angry with him... well he never believed in the ogre as it was origionally written he always saw Ogrepon as a living being worth respect...problem is hes bitter as hell for not getting ogrepon for himself....so his reaction to seeing it in battle is to be a complete dick about it (as hel actually concentrate attacks on her when shes out)
Sorry for the long post! I am autistic and Pokémon is one of my special interests. Haven't played much of the 2nd dlc yet, just wanted to see if bringing Ogerpon would be a bad idea. I have mixed feelings. [I forgot how to spell his name. Spelling is not my strong suit] On one hand, I don't want to be inconsiderate and I'm worried about him. I hope he can go to therapy and that things get better for him. He never came off as annoying or anything. I actually really disliked his sister for a good chunk of the teal mask. On the other hand, Ogerpon and I are friends and she is a permanent part of my team along with my starter. When I first befriend her in teal mask, I carefully chose a meaningful nickname for her and then brought her to the festival. We walked around and looked at all the decorations. I know buying the food doesn't do anything besides adding effects, but I made sure to go to every one of the food stands and share a treat with her. Inevitably, she will show up in the fight at some point, but I'll hold off as long as possible. I need to remember to reorder my team. [My starter and ogerpon are in the first and second spots.]
I brought Ogerpon in my playthrough completely unaware about the special dialogues, and got surprised by Carmime's reaction. And knew I had to do the same with Kieran, and I don't have any morsel of remorse.
I used her since I just knew it would be very fitting to use her against Kieran rather then wanting to spite him per say plus she is a member of my team as well.
I really like Kieran, he had the most interesting character development of any rival. Going from weak upstart to conquering his school with the intent of defeating you. Sure he got humiliated to the point of probably needing therapy, but wow, I can’t remember a rival with that much intensity and desire to dethrone the player character. It was also an interesting take to be the rival who is being chased after rather than the other way around.
Im playing through the DLC right now and I can't wait to ANNIHILATE Kieran with my ogrepi. That's right. TWO ogrepon. One from my first playthrough that I transferred to Home and back to my boxes in my 2nd playthrough, and the one I caught in my current playthrough. Just to rub salt in the wound.
yep. All because Ogerpon not only is very friendly and wants to be with ous, but it also sees ous worthy as it’s trainer. And spoiler, Terapagos did the same thing. After it woke up, it sees ous with a friendly smile and see ous as a potential and chosen trainer that it wants to be with, only for Kieren to ruin the moment when he caught Terapagos with the ultra rare master ball to control it which only made Terapagos confuse and then lost control of it’s power when Kieren terastilisw Terapagos into it’s true special tera form

@@EvanAfton10 I am glad Legends Arceus explained that it even by Pokémon standards it never made much sense to me that you could apparently easily catch the god of the Pokémon universe, especially since it would mean that there would be no god to watch over the universe. That explanation also managed to confirm why Arceus is not as strong as you would think it is, as for example Eternamax Eternatus’s (an unnotainable form of the Pokémon) base stat total is 1125 which is far higher then Arceus’s base stat total of 720.
I made a horrible mistake by accident. I brought both my Zoroark and Ogerpon into the fight. Let’s say Kieran didn’t have a fun time seeing two Ogerpons (No special dialogue, but imagine the mental anguish)
I used Ogerpon to finish the fight. I’m so glad it didn’t go any other way. She was the last pokemon left. She knocked out Incineroar with spiky shield, and was one hit away from fainting when she knocked out Hydrapple with a crit. Most climactic battle ever, and I’m so glad it was.
In my battle I used my yellow Hydrapple against his and it luckily called all the heads when I used Fickle Beam to finish him off with style. Was so exciting!
I hate the fact that you’re forced to stay friends with him at the end. Like, I disliked the dude from the very beginning. They should’ve given you the option to not be friends with him (but then again, it is Pokemon)

All of a sudden, you two run into a familiar face from your old home in Kitakami - Carmine, the girl who helped you get your masks back! She's so happy to see you and even happier to battle with you again! You and your companion learn that her brother is here, too. You're excited to see him again. After all, he got the village to not be scared of you anymore! After exploring more of this shiny place and meeting more people like your companion, you two are finally going to battle your friend Kieran. You're called out of your Poké Ball. Why does Kieran look so different? Why is he looking at you like that? Why are his eyes so cold? Then he says this. Then he zeroes in on you. What must have gone through that poor Pokémon's mind?
That's what I kept thinking the whole time 😢 poor girl must've been so confused as to why Kieran was so different despite her game model depicting her as smiling. I myself was slightly terrified of the "new" Kieran and was even hesitant to play Indigo Disk on launch day because of it, so I know she as hell sure must've been! If I had known he was gonna react like THAT I wouldn't have let the poor baby see him like that.
The poor precious baby would been so shocked and emotional and hurt by the words fired. Reminded when Kitakami feared her. I'd imagine that would have saddened and angered her. 😢
I was hoping Kieran would get special dialogue when using Ogerpon against him and I am glad they remembered to do that. Admittedly I hadn’t thought they would do the same for Carmine but I am happy they remembered to give her special dialogue for Ogerpon as well. My advice for those that want to use Ogerpon for Champion Kieran’s battle use the Rock mask as that allows you to take out two of his Pokémon with one of their weaknesses and it’s a pretty good typing Grass Rock.
i actually tried this because i was genuinely curious. carmine gets all happy when you battle her with ogerpon, but i was NOT expecting kieren to sound like he was ready to kill me.
When I heard Carmine had special dialogue for Ogerpon, I knew I wanted to bring her into Kieran's fight (which worked out since she was in my original team plan anyways) She ended up carrying me through the entire battle too 🙏
Honestly seeing how broken Kieran looks after he loses makes me really wish gamefreak actually put voice acting in this game because the anguish that the voice acter could do would break my heart more than a silent scene with just the words on the screen

I brought out ogrepon for the pilitoad and I was curious about his reaction. I missed Carmine's, but it was worth it with Kieran's. I literally shouted, "OH MY GOD, LOOK AT HIS FACE! HE'S SO MAD RIGHT NOW!"
*1:37* Kieran is seen using his Tera Orb right here with *no* reaction at all. But when he Tera's Terapagos, he genuinely struggles using it. This means two things: Either it's just the Tera energy from Terapagos, or *something* was making him stronger in this fight. Maybe it was fury, maybe something else... Edit: *3:56* Kieran begins to sort of faint in a way. Either he was caught off guard or the something that was controlling him either loosened its grip on him or tightened it, forcing him to activate Terapagos and fight with it.
I didn’t expect this to happen and when he said that it was my 7th time crying during the dlc, poor boy is so close to a mental breakdown after idolising the player character to only end up getting nothing but an empty feeling out of it

I was 100% invested in reconciling with Kieran by the end, and because of that was on the fence about bringing Ogerpon. I didn't want to rub salt in the wound...until I saw (ahead of time) what his dialog was. Still addressing her as "the ogre" instead of just using her dang name... Still refusing to acknowledge her as a creature to be befriended, instead referring to her by title, by concept... I love him to bits, but the boy needed to get over himself. I not only brought her, but she carried me, knocking out half his team and fighting through 3 turns of confusion without hurting herself. That's my girl!
This was a fun little easter egg, though I'm a little disappointed it didn't extend to the Loyal Three. I started using Okidogi after catching it and Carmine had nothing to say when I sent him out.
I knew it there's gonna be a secret dialog if attempting using Orgepon against Keiran I'm wonder if there's an other secret dialog if you attempted to use one of The "Loyal" Three...
My original plan was to bring Orgepon and the Three, but got some fear that it would bring me some difficulty. I should done, since I got all de BB league with Dodonzo and Tatsugiri combo (only the fairy elite 4 got some trouble with them)
The microsecond he kept treating ogerpon like a "thing" and not an actual pokemon I knew I had to slam him with judgement, doesn't help that he does it *again* later on

My meowscarada has flower trick (which always crits) and I use it a lot because I have leaf storm as the other grass move (which lowers spatk), and every time he reacted to a crit (“even luck is on your side!” and all that) I felt so bad 😭

god i hated how Nintendo/GameFreak forced our hand in part 1, but i'm glad everything worked out in part 2. ive related so much to Kiki and i wanted to protect that smile of his. it was goddamn brutal for me to watch his downward spiral and knowing full-well it was my fault. i got spoiled to these little interactions, and i swore not to use Ogerpon against Kiki in our Champ battle, thats just way too cruel...
Mildly long-winded reply ahead: Eh, I wouldn't say that. Kieran comes across as feeling very entitled to Ogerpon, and when the time came he never really gave consideration to *her* feelings, instead opting to treat her like a prize to be won with no say in the matter, despite claiming to want to be her friend. I personally found it kinda hard to feel bad for him with that in mind. I pitied him because of his obsession with strength and how it was ruining his relationships, but I never felt bad about showing him Ogerpon.
I remember being surprised when I got the dialogue, I didn't get Carmine's since I had no idea there was special dialogue (played right when it came out) and didn't need to use Ogerpon in her fight. I seem to be alone in this opinion but I really felt bad using Ogerpon in his fight and actively wanted to hug him after the fight lol, I'm still angry at drayton for what he said
It is pretty much the MOST inconsiderate to be using Ogrepon NOW - against Kieran after what had happen to him in the Teal Mask storyline, and this would be the most irate move to me - if not Drayton being such an otherwise INCONSIDERATE PRICK as Carmine warned us about.

I remember when I was facing Kieran and kicking his ass, I went “…How is he going to react if I send out Ogerpon?” (she was in my Indigo Disk team) and did exactly that. It was definitely worth it, but then still I felt bad for him because we were literally showing off the very Pokemon he admired- and could never properly befriend or get- right in his face.
Haha, W freakout textbox that was nicely done. But I just felt it's a small glimpse to how much more they could have extended Kieran's villain arc - a missed opportunity for a lot more easy good content imo.
A difference I notice in this fight and mine (apart from the ogerpon dialogue) is that I had knocked out the rest of his team before Hyrdapple came out, and when it attacked it said "Hydrapple is going all out!"
I'm glad that they added these dialogue options for Ogrepon, but in some ways I feel like what they could've done was with carmine her Defense and Sp Defense lower, but in Kierans his pokemkns Attack and Sp Attack raise up because of his anger

@@23Raind pretty sure it's been stated repeatedly that it's basically impossible to force a pokemon into being caught and you have to prove yourself to them, hence why every pokemon you catch yourself listens to you, they chose to join you so of course they'll listen, masterballs are obviously the exception to this but, of course, kieran has a masterball

@@EvanAfton10 I am glad Legends Arceus explained that it even by Pokémon standards it never made much sense to me that you could apparently easily catch the god of the Pokémon universe, especially since it would mean that there would be no god to watch over the universe. That explanation also managed to confirm why Arceus is not as strong as you would think it is, as for example Eternamax Eternatus’s (an unnotainable form of the Pokémon) base stat total is 1125 which is far higher then Arceus’s base stat total of 720.

I used Ogerpon to finish the fight. I’m so glad it didn’t go any other way. She was the last pokemon left. She knocked out Incineroar with spiky shield, and was one hit away from fainting when she knocked out Hydrapple with a crit. Most climactic battle ever, and I’m so glad it was.

That's what I kept thinking the whole time 😢 poor girl must've been so confused as to why Kieran was so different despite her game model depicting her as smiling. I myself was slightly terrified of the "new" Kieran and was even hesitant to play Indigo Disk on launch day because of it, so I know she as hell sure must've been! If I had known he was gonna react like THAT I wouldn't have let the poor baby see him like that.
The poor precious baby would been so shocked and emotional and hurt by the words fired. Reminded when Kitakami feared her. I'd imagine that would have saddened and angered her. 😢
I was hoping Kieran would get special dialogue when using Ogerpon against him and I am glad they remembered to do that. Admittedly I hadn’t thought they would do the same for Carmine but I am happy they remembered to give her special dialogue for Ogerpon as well. My advice for those that want to use Ogerpon for Champion Kieran’s battle use the Rock mask as that allows you to take out two of his Pokémon with one of their weaknesses and it’s a pretty good typing Grass Rock.

i actually tried this because i was genuinely curious. carmine gets all happy when you battle her with ogerpon, but i was NOT expecting kieren to sound like he was ready to kill me.
When I heard Carmine had special dialogue for Ogerpon, I knew I wanted to bring her into Kieran's fight (which worked out since she was in my original team plan anyways)
She ended up carrying me through the entire battle too 🙏
Honestly seeing how broken Kieran looks after he loses makes me really wish gamefreak actually put voice acting in this game because the anguish that the voice acter could do would break my heart more than a silent scene with just the words on the screen

I brought out ogrepon for the pilitoad and I was curious about his reaction. I missed Carmine's, but it was worth it with Kieran's. I literally shouted, "OH MY GOD, LOOK AT HIS FACE! HE'S SO MAD RIGHT NOW!"
*1:37* Kieran is seen using his Tera Orb right here with *no* reaction at all.
But when he Tera's Terapagos, he genuinely struggles using it.
This means two things:
Either it's just the Tera energy from Terapagos, or *something* was making him stronger in this fight. Maybe it was fury, maybe something else...
Edit: *3:56* Kieran begins to sort of faint in a way. Either he was caught off guard or the something that was controlling him either loosened its grip on him or tightened it, forcing him to activate Terapagos and fight with it.
My theory about why Kieran nearly fainted is a combination of a severe lack of sleep and emotional exhaustion from the battle.

My meowscarada has flower trick (which always crits) and I use it a lot because I have leaf storm as the other grass move (which lowers spatk), and every time he reacted to a crit (“even luck is on your side!” and all that) I felt so bad 😭
Flower trick is physical.. its not affected by leaf storm drop even if it wasn’t a guaranteed crit move

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Kieran comes across as feeling very entitled to Ogerpon, and when the time came he never really gave consideration to *her* feelings, instead opting to treat her like a prize to be won with no say in the matter, despite claiming to want to be her friend.
I personally found it kinda hard to feel bad for him with that in mind. I pitied him because of his obsession with strength and how it was ruining his relationships, but I never felt bad about showing him Ogerpon.

The cutscene in which Kieran loses is a prime example of why it's ridiculous that Pokémon still doesn't have voice acting.
I remember being surprised when I got the dialogue, I didn't get Carmine's since I had no idea there was special dialogue (played right when it came out) and didn't need to use Ogerpon in her fight. I seem to be alone in this opinion but I really felt bad using Ogerpon in his fight and actively wanted to hug him after the fight lol, I'm still angry at drayton for what he said
I just wish there was some voice acting. Ive seen people just reading the script and it just really helps bring out his emotional turmoil.

It was definitely worth it, but then still I felt bad for him because we were literally showing off the very Pokemon he admired- and could never properly befriend or get- right in his face.

I'm glad that they added these dialogue options for Ogrepon, but in some ways I feel like what they could've done was with carmine her Defense and Sp Defense lower, but in Kierans his pokemkns Attack and Sp Attack raise up because of his anger

@@23Raind pretty sure it's been stated repeatedly that it's basically impossible to force a pokemon into being caught and you have to prove yourself to them, hence why every pokemon you catch yourself listens to you, they chose to join you so of course they'll listen, masterballs are obviously the exception to this but, of course, kieran has a masterball
