If you remember sitting in a NEW Alfa 75 (with 3miles) at the dealer in 1992 - You’ll always pick the 75. Also the magic mix of avant-garde-art design and engineering brilliance. However good the 156 is (and it is) it just isn’t that. 🙂

I currently make around £100 per month from UA-cam, so if you think that asking for assistance to help build the channel is somehow unethical, you are being unrealistic.

Good man! The 156 has a floorpan made of chocolate unfortunately - mine needed loads of work too! My 75 is rust free thankfully, been completely restored underneath.
Hi Chris! Another great video 👍 I prefer the 156 2.5 V6. I know this car, as I was the owner of a 156 SW 2.5 V6 for more than 10 years. I love the design of the 156, and of course the fantastic V6 Busso. However the 75 is great too.
I had 156 2.0 TS, I still miss that car. 75 looks nice, but the silver 156 from 1998 was one of the best vehicles I have owned. Even if the suspension was not as good as on the GT 2007, overall the 1998 really deserved the title back in the day, think it was voted European car of the year. Comfortable, economical, sporty - a pleasure to drive.

The 156, just before the facelift. Far, far better quality than the 75, and actually a better driving car. The only one of my Alfa's I truely miss is my 2.0 V6 - 156. But then I just remember changing the oil/oilfilter, the stupid rusty srews in the airfilter box, ultimately changing the timingbelt... Then I'm ok again 😀

Hey Lee. Hows it going mate? Still doing the new career? The 156 is going to get a new interior soon - rest of the mechanics are completed, (apart from aircon) it was MOT’d last year but only got driven once on an Alfa driveout. You are right, it needs to be driven more regularly! 👍🏻

I'd go for the 75. And I got a sense from your face expression that you'd want that too as well. The 75 is a classic and with the V6 engine is even more desirable. Don't get me wrong I love the 156 as well but I believe it can wait a bit longer

Hi Chris , it’s your choice , and based on your own priorities. If you asked which model I prefer, I will always say the 75 as I still regard it the last real Alfa Romeo, but I’m biased as I had 2 , both TS and 3 litre V6. I still think the cars after we’re good , I liked the 155 and 156 , but had a liking for the 33 as well . Which ever you choose, enjoy. BTW keep giving updates on your Beta Spider.coming, did you manage the carburettor situation you talked about in your vid - i recommended the Malossi fuel filter if you remember.
Hi Martin, yes thanks I remember - I have been driving the Spyder quite a bit and it’s actually running very well now! I think it just needed to be used - like all old cars, they don’t like being stored and carbs especially gum up don’t they? I’ve been spending time trying to improve the indicators as they were very faint - the main culprit seemed to be the hazard switch which after cleaning has made a difference. Electrics are not a strong point on the Betas!

The 75 is a real rwd-car, with race attributes. It even sounds and looks great. The 156 is just a fwd-car for families, yet with good steer capabilities. To be honest, there is nothing to discuss. The 75 is the keeper!
Hmmm.... I suppose the 75 but I would like to see a tan interior on that red 156, it'd be a great improvement I'm sure (as I have a red Giulia with a tan interior, it's a great combo)

Im getting my 1987 2.5 'Gold' automatic this Sunday, I'm in the states, hopefully your videos help me. Mine is a mess but does run. Can't wait to see which one you start to restore!
@@TheAlfaNut it was v6 originally, so my father didn't do cambelt service , cambelt snapped. so we swapped and i bought another import v6 engine. it mixed water and oil in the engine. so i bought an written off 156 twinspark. swapped subfame everything into the 156. was driving good. for about 5 years. then my ex wife waterlock the engine. bought another import 2.0 ts. on test drive piston 1 left the chat. now the passed 5 years trail and error with 18t 20v vw swapping 😭

@@TheAlfaNut oh no! I have a gorgeous 159, 3.2 V6 JTS, but looking for a 156 GTA probably in 2 years time, when I can afford one 🤣. Alfas are much much more affordable here in South Africa, and rust isnt much of an issue here, when you're away from the coast like in Johannesburg or Pretoria, so I'm lucky there
Both great I got both 1988 milano quadrifoglio oro 2.5 black and 2000 156 2.5 6 speed manual lusso wooden steering and dash trim Cosmo blue Also I got 2000 156 twin spark 2lt. Manual fantasia blue and I just bought a 1982 alfetta 2lt.

The 75 is now mot’d and road legal but needs some balancing to the prop. I’m not very familiar with working on transaxle Alfas so will need to get some pro help when the weather improves. Watch this space!
@@TheAlfaNut I seem to remember some kind of centre bearing that sometimes needs replacing. Because the car has a rear transaxle (gearbox at the back) it's not a prop shaft as such but a torque tube.
The sound of 75's engine though... I would put a classical wooden steering wheel (I appreciate that in the new 33 Stradale at least they have made a tribute to those wheels).
Hi mate, yes I agree - strangely enough I have just bought a boss for the 75 as I have a black leather Momo wheel from the 1990's to try on it. I did see a lovely limited edition factory wooden steering wheel for the 75 which I am tempted by.....
@TheAlfaNut 2003 GTA saloon in Pewter metallic. It's the one I drove on the trip to Torcross - I think it's probably one of the best in the country. I 'd be very happy for you to feature it on your channel :-)

@@TheAlfaNut I would have to choose the 156 because of the more modern features like the suspension and braking, also the fuel range better suited the 700km country trips I regularly take. My 156 was twinspark Monza 2001 which I had for 7 years. I replaced it with a 2005 156 JTS and I still have this car, 14 years later and 120,000km on board. I have owned about 10 Alfas since 1980 so I may also be an Alfa Nut….. Cheers from Orstrailyuh….

Hi Alfanut, I have just brought a used 2023 Giulia Veloce, red with the new style wheels. Also balance of 5 years warranty. It also has an iRoad x9 camera wired in front and back…..cheers from the land of Oz.
@@TheAlfaNut , more that I preferred the 156. We had a 2L TS and a 2.5 V6 auto. The 2L TS had a brilliant engine (I prefer revvy engines - too many years of 2 stroke bikes). I replaced the 2L with a 33 P4, and that was a lot more fun (it did rather encourage thrashing!). Still have a few random 75 parts around.
@@katywalker8322 Haha, I've had a few 2-stroke bikes too back in the day, so I know what you mean. Try finding a 33 P4 these days though - there are only a couple left I think.

Haha yes - me too! I have always loved the 156 and mine drives very well, with uprated Koni suspension but the 75 is a very important Alfa and I haven't driven it yet, so I am very curious to try it.
@@TheAlfaNut Koni shock absorbers are a good way to improve the brilliant handling of the 156... when you drive the 75, you feel like Tom Cruise in TopGun plane cabin.... without wings 😁

156 for me, man I miss my 156 but it would have cost a mortgage to get fixed. Happily 159ti owner now, daily driver only 76,000ml. Love it❤

Im getting my 1987 2.5 'Gold' automatic this Sunday, I'm in the states, hopefully your videos help me. Mine is a mess but does run. Can't wait to see which one you start to restore!

That's a bummer - is it a V6 engine or a 4-pot?
@@TheAlfaNut it was v6 originally, so my father didn't do cambelt service , cambelt snapped. so we swapped and i bought another import v6 engine. it mixed water and oil in the engine.
so i bought an written off 156 twinspark. swapped subfame everything into the 156. was driving good. for about 5 years. then my ex wife waterlock the engine. bought another import 2.0 ts. on test drive piston 1 left the chat.
now the passed 5 years trail and error with 18t 20v vw swapping 😭

@@TheAlfaNut oh no! I have a gorgeous 159, 3.2 V6 JTS, but looking for a 156 GTA probably in 2 years time, when I can afford one 🤣. Alfas are much much more affordable here in South Africa, and rust isnt much of an issue here, when you're away from the coast like in Johannesburg or Pretoria, so I'm lucky there

Also I got 2000 156 twin spark 2lt. Manual fantasia blue and I just bought a 1982 alfetta 2lt.

I just bought a month ago 1982 alfetta 2.0 special edition in Australia 100 made called sportiva 1 got Stripe on the sides and boot similar to alfa 75 has momo small wood wheel and campognolo wheels with competition rear springs and gas shocks .❤️
@Liban46227 Sounds like a great find - does it need lots of work? I will hopefully review the Alfetta at some point - I have to find one first and they are super rare in the UK!

I loved my 156 Selespeed but I loved my V6 75 a little bit more so please do the 75 first.
The 75 is now mot’d and road legal but needs some balancing to the prop. I’m not very familiar with working on transaxle Alfas so will need to get some pro help when the weather improves. Watch this space!
@@TheAlfaNut I seem to remember some kind of centre bearing that sometimes needs replacing. Because the car has a rear transaxle (gearbox at the back) it's not a prop shaft as such but a torque tube.

Hi mate, yes I agree - strangely enough I have just bought a boss for the 75 as I have a black leather Momo wheel from the 1990's to try on it. I did see a lovely limited edition factory wooden steering wheel for the 75 which I am tempted by.....

@TheAlfaNut 2003 GTA saloon in Pewter metallic. It's the one I drove on the trip to Torcross - I think it's probably one of the best in the country. I 'd be very happy for you to feature it on your channel :-)

@@TheAlfaNut I would have to choose the 156 because of the more modern features like the suspension and braking, also the fuel range better suited the 700km country trips I regularly take. My 156 was twinspark Monza 2001 which I had for 7 years. I replaced it with a 2005 156 JTS and I still have this car, 14 years later and 120,000km on board. I have owned about 10 Alfas since 1980 so I may also be an Alfa Nut…..

Hi Alfanut, I have just brought a used 2023 Giulia Veloce, red with the new style wheels. Also balance of 5 years warranty. It also has an iRoad x9 camera wired in front and back…..cheers from the land of Oz.
Loved our 156, so would say that. 75 I am a bit more ambivalent about (despite both of ours being in that colour, albeit with the Veloce kits on them)

We had a 2L TS and a 2.5 V6 auto. The 2L TS had a brilliant engine (I prefer revvy engines - too many years of 2 stroke bikes). I replaced the 2L with a 33 P4, and that was a lot more fun (it did rather encourage thrashing!). Still have a few random 75 parts around.
@@katywalker8322 Haha, I've had a few 2-stroke bikes too back in the day, so I know what you mean. Try finding a 33 P4 these days though - there are only a couple left I think.

Haha yes - me too! I have always loved the 156 and mine drives very well, with uprated Koni suspension but the 75 is a very important Alfa and I haven't driven it yet, so I am very curious to try it.
@@TheAlfaNut Koni shock absorbers are a good way to improve the brilliant handling of the 156... when you drive the 75, you feel like Tom Cruise in TopGun plane cabin.... without wings 😁
