As someone who doesn't know much about Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa was definitely my top choice for a Power Rangers character in Lawl. Unfortunately, I think there were some problems with the moveset. But let's go move by move: -Neutral B seemed like a fitting choice. The uncharged version I don't have much to say, it's a basic choice that wouldn't feel complete on its own but since it has the charged version it's fine. About the charged version, I think it's neat aside from a few problems. A projectile that moves slowly towards you might be simple, but its enough to make it not feel generic, and complements the uncharged version well. My problems with it are 1. it should only be on stage for a certain time limit, as it only seems to disappear when reaching Rita, and such a slow moving projectile would take AGES to reach her during a fast-paced battle unless she so happens to go against it on accident and 2. a ten second charge to allow you to *aim* the projectile is ridiculous. The three second charge for the projectile is already a long time to charge a projectile, something as simple as aiming should completely be included in that 3 second charge -Side B is the one I personally have more problems with. While summoning minions is characteristic of her, making the entire move based on the game was a bad idea. I didn't have problems with that in the Neutral B since it felt like an addition to a move based on the show, but with so many episodes and Rita summoning minions in like, what, all of them?, you implemented it in a way that felt more basic that it could have been. You could definitely make it more interesting and characteristic of Rita. Basing moves on videogames for non-videogame characters isn't new and can work (and I think it did work with Neutral B), but here it did not. Looking at other movesets: Waternoose has an entire move based on a game (his Up B), but it's a recovery, something you could hardly get for him in the original movie, he's a character with way less screen time than Rita, and was made interesting by having synergy with the Down B, which made it not only more interesting but also more fitting since it references the way doors get pushed up by claws while they're being replaced. Spongebob's Slimetime moveset has a priority of the bubble be based on a game, but its a small priority, not an entire move. -Up B was cool, definitely the best one. The teleport seems to teleport you randomly which is not my favourite decision, but it's an overall interesting idea. -Down B is... messy. The reference seems fitting, at least that part seems good, but the execution, not so much. First of all, making a move "once per stock" is never a good choice. If a move feels too powerful, either give it a good amount of cooldown (look at Underpants Frisk's Down B per example), possibly with a weaker version to use while on cooldown (look at 60's Batman's sharks pre-patch and post-patch per example), or just straight up try to nerf it while keeping the interesting and more representative properties. Next, the way it works could be expanded upon. Making them use their Neutral B doesn't seem like it has that many uses, and "knocking them until they wake up" I can't even judge because it isn't properly shown nor explained (do they not move until they get hit enough times? if so, how much until they are up again? or do they just stay like that for a fixed period of time?). Transforming objects into monsters is a really cool concept that seems to fit her well, but again, it isn't properly explained. They get transformed... then what? You can make them attack doing a single move like the controlled opponents? Or do they have a bunch of attacks? Or you don't even control them and they act on their own? I hope I didn't sound harsh. I'm making this long ass comment because this Lawl has been around for a long time and its been highly influential in the earlier days of Lawl, to me inclusive, so I really want to see it improving because it has potential to be great. My critics come from a place of love, so I hope you understand what worked/didn't work in the moveset from my comment as well as the other comments
Writing this after the video. What better way to represent a villain from Power Rangers in lawl than Rita herself. Marvelous choice you made there bud. Before that, nice assist Trophy you made with Goldar at first. Really threw me off, but I knew it was a troll right off the get-go. Now for the moveset: I like how you incorporated some of her moves from Power Of The Grid to represent her moveset in that game for some of her specials. Very neat. (Edit: MAN are these critics trashing your set with the game references!) Obviously her recovery would be her riding her bike... and teleporting. Down B might need a cool down there bud. Last time I saw this happen with Plankton's side B, that should also have a cooldown. Like imagen playing with someone, and they have no control of their character with that move (And Rita's.) affecting them. That just speaks levels of broken. Give those moves a 5 to 6 seconds limit. No words for the final smash since it's just all too well edited. I like how you teased the new huds in that scene with our smol bean, Meggy. (Clever you.) Also since your now using her current design, having Leggy as her new losing pose is just AMAZING! Now you just have to use her modern voice in your videos now. One SMG4 fan to another, make it happen. Or better yet, give her a language option like how Lawl Dreams dose it with some of their characters. That way both her Inkling, and human voice are optional. I also like the idea of making Rita's monsters grow with the B + shield button. Obviously can't have a moveset for Rita without "THAT." It's the most important element from every season of Power Rangers where the monsters grow. Lastly, nice announcer from Dragon Ball Abridged. And thanks for the shoutouts for some of my renders being used in your lawl now. Man... first moveset of lawl X in 2024... that took long, but I can guarantee say this was worth it! (Edit: Critics are being salty with this set!) See you in the 2nd Direct man. And R.I.P to those legends in the end. (Mostly Jason David Frank.) And my question to you is this: If you ever considered a character from Kamen Rider for Lawl X, which one would you have went with?
Happy 85th anniversary To marvel and 31st anniversary To Power Rangers and thank you for letting Chincherrinas & nostalgia Spakotno being a part of this carnation
Welp, I call it by the mark. Rita Repulsa as the Power Ranger ref. And true to it, I’m happy to see her alongside the tribute to the decreased PR rangers and Toriyama. Oggy and Niko being comfirmed make me nervous about the other guys that might got erased, drop out or demoted. Guess the reveal will happen in the Next Direct. As for my questions, I got 3 of them: 1. Which cuts characters do you want ro get a second try? 2. Which Assist Trophy do you want to make to Promoted as a Playable characters. 3. You got some opinion on my own series, Full Gear Reckoning, on my UA-cam channel? (Its me, Steven, or Emily now.)
Your finally back and with a pretty great moveset to spare. First off, was not expecting Goldar to show up, but he was a good pick for an assist trophy. On to Rita herself, I instantly called it being her, given how she's one of the moat iconic villains in the Power Rangers series (also, 31 years? Dang, can't believe its that old) and a character I could see fit in your Lawl. It was pretty cool seeing some her moves from Power of the Grid get incorporated without becoming too over reliant on that game alone. Up B was a hilarious choice, and Down B was faithful to her main acts in the series, what with having opponent's grow and making minions of items being very unique, although my only complaint was the once per stock thing being implemented, since most Lawlers don't use that anymore. I knew it was probably used to balance out her using it on items constantly, but I feel you should have it set a few seconds before using it again. Not much to say about Loki, but he was a decent final smash. As for other things, Rita joining with the other villains in whatever overarching plot you have was interesting, Roman being used in Niko's Smash Attack was funny (and of course, it was "Lets go bowling"), and the new renders are pretty good as well. Your grammar (which I felt has been a bit of a problem in past movesets) has also improved was well, as I could understand what was going on a lot more. All in all, this was an awesome to celebrate the long running series that is Power Rangers, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what surprises await us in the second Direct. As for my questions: What inspired you to make your series? What are your favorite Lawl series? Out of all the Assist Trophies, who among them has full potential for a full moveset? And who has the least potential? Ps, RIP to Jason, Thuy, Machiko, and Akira. You will all be missed.
How do I make a moveset of something I don't even know but that looks great? The answer is this moveset! Rita seems like she would be the best representation of Power Rangers in a Lawl and I think you ended up doing it very well, Down B's creativity is very good and the Final Smash is just fantastic! The wait was worth it! I really want to see what else Lawl X will bring. I'm still waiting to see which characters will be removed, it's giving me goosebumps... for now, we just have to wait for the future. And my question for the Q&A is: If you had to choose a character from another Lawl to announce as a New Fighter in Lawl X, who would it be?
Man, This is The Best Moveset I Ever Seen in My Entite Life 🥲 Also, They Tribute to David Jason Frank, Thuy Trang, Machiko Soga and The Legendary Akira Toriyama Himself. And Question: What’s Your Favorite Anime of all Time?
I may not be a massive Power Rangers, so as an outsider this moveset felt really uninspired. I say this as two of Rita's specials are directly taken from a fighting game, and Down B isn't really that revolutionary when other X characters have mind control special moves already. Up B was fine though. Things I did like about this video were the noticeable sprite and render improvements, as well as the fake out at the start with the assist trophy showcase, that was really funny lol. The lore segments were fine but I really hate that AI generated lines were used for some parts. It felt like a lot of easy routes were taken to get this out on time for a milestone occasion without considering the outcome. Though I will give you props for putting this out on the Power Rangers 31st anniversary, even if the final video felt half-baked. Overall, this moveset made for a bland & boring experience to watch through.
@@evanpapastergiou5173 I'm still not going to unban you, and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop bugging me about it. Like you said you're paying the price for breaking server rules, though I'm glad you understand what you did wrong.
To put this VERY lightly on the moveset itself, yeah, this felt painfully average like Shrekles said. I feel like my main gripe with Lawl X itself is that the animation STILL hasn't met today's standards. As I said before elsewhere, it just feels very tough and tacky if you compare it to more recent spinoffs that made their debut this year. Now onto what really made me not enjoy this. First off, why are there moves that take inspiration from fighting games? Honestly side special being able to charge felt unnecessary, same with the "stays for 3 seconds". You could have like just made whatever popped out appear for a brief moment instead of an assist like move. This may also apply to the neutral special, but for more power, it has significantly longer startup? Lastly, the final smash startup once again feels long, but staying for a minute minimum? I'd say it gets straight to the point and lasts for only 1/6 of its current duration. While I don't like the current state of Lawl X, I think it can eventually catch up with older lawls that are on the tierlist if you make meaningful improvements to it.
