The last season has been comparable to season 1-3 in my opinion. Maybe you perceive the first 3 seasons as a lot better cause of the emotions you felt when you first watched it.
The earlier episodic episodes were peak Rick and Morty. The alien simulation, purge, inception episodes to name a few. The characters had specific mannerisms, Inter personal dynamics, specific humor to the situation. The characters weren’t insufferable, the jokes weren’t over done meta analysis, the mannerisms genuinely made me laugh. RIP peak Rick and Morty, you will be missed.
the "Rick and Morty's fall into inconsistency" UA-cam video essay has become a lot more played out than anything on the show itself. I'll always be here for the new episodes
It feels like you had the idea to rag on the show before season 7 came out and then didn't pay attention to the near universal praise around the show getting its groove back. I'm also not sure you understand what this show is actually about... can't refute all your points in a UA-cam comment, but yeah - maybe try analyzing a different property?
You are extremely articulate and I agree that the main issue is the building of serial narrative in the beginning only for there to be dissonance between the serial and episodic nature.
Bro what I thought you were going to talk about the voices of the characters and how the writing went horrible and the voices were bad and how they eventually got to be better with the voices and made the writhting good again like bro the point of Rick’s me Morty that’s funny is that their problems are solved easily like when Morty says in the season 4 finale that he killed the guy off screeen
The show is actually better now it just has less of a mainstream following and that’s not a bad thing cause fuck it was embarrassing to like this show prepandemic and I like it a lot better with the new voice actors cause their performances are so much more layered than Justin Roiland’s rambling tbh.
Boo hoo the show changed life is change get used to it
downfall? last season was great. rick and morty is doing fine.

The shows still good, maybe this is more of a you thing
why are so many people bitching in the comments? every point you made was solid
Its not getting worse, you're just not the target audience anymore.
Rick and morty lost me after season 3. Sad to see one of my favorite shows become flanderized.

Inter-dimensional Cable was always cringe and was often completely unfunny.

Downfall, bro are you okay?
Mate, love the video! Keep grinding, you’re going places!
Good job putting this together. Downfall probably mostly due to new writing staff.
