My Grandmother ran out of gas (or had a flat tire) right near Madame Brown's House. She walked up to the front door w/my mom in tow, at about age 2 or 3, and asked to use the phone. She called Grandfather, and he asked where she had the breakdown. My grandmother asked the lady what was the address, and she told my grandma the address, and said "Just tell him you're at Madame Browns." Grandpa said, quietly but firmly, get yourself and Mary Edith out of there right away and I'll be there in 10 min. LOL Grandma said later it looked like a perfectly respectable place to her...how was she supposed to know! 😂😂 ps ... that was abt. 1930.
