I was traveling through Azerbaijan( former Soviet Union Republic) .I went to this remote village up in the Caucasus mountains. While strolling through the street,I met an old couple. When I told them I was from India, the lady’s face lit up and she was like..”Hindistan? Raj Kapoor?? ..she hugged and kissed me and started humming this very song waving her hands in the air..All I could understand was Raj Kapoor,Raj Kapoor..Radio..” 😃My fellow traveller translated that Raj Kapoor used to be her biggest Crush and she still loves him.Never expected this people to know Indian Actors.

Mera Naam Jokar was a good movie. But very few liked it because of its huge length as well as different type of story-- the hero is left alone and old in the end, which then people couldn't like.
So for a beginner, "Sri 420" and "Jagte Raho" are best from his own production. For other directors, his "Anadi" and "Teesri Kasam" are my favorite.

Whether it was introducing best technology in movies from time to time, first movie internationally released in kannes festival, establishing studios for movies which were used in many movies aprt from kapoor films, making many classic movies etc there are lot more thing they contribute to Indian cinema. Awara and Anari felt genuine - mostly it feels like rich dudes pretend playing poor (like it usually was) - not Raj Kapoor. He poured some serious heart into it. He was very theatrical, but somehow made it feel real.

Prithvi Raj Kapoor (Seen in song from Mughal-E-Azam) his three sons 1. Raj Kapoor, 2. Shammi Kapoor, 3. Shashi Kapoor were all very very successful. Raj Kapoor is considered as the Showman of India. Almost all his movies had some social message. He was a huge star abroad specially in USSR. One of the greatest ever Indian actor, producer, director.

    • @hindimovieadmirer6025

Mera Naam Jokar was a good movie. But very few liked it because of its huge length as well as different type of story-- the hero is left alone and old in the end, which then people couldn't like.
So for a beginner, "Sri 420" and "Jagte Raho" are best from his own production. For other directors, his "Anadi" and "Teesri Kasam" are my favorite.

Prithviraj Kapoor (Actor playing emperor in Mughal-E-Azam) was the first one from that family. There are many, who are continuing the lineage - Kajol (Shobhna samarth's grand daughter).
