What happens to plastic bags when you recycle them at Publix?

Nice to know they are actually being recycled, and not just disposed of in a different way.
Ideally what we need to do is stop using pastic bags altogether. Use paper for most things and beeswax paper for cold items or wet items.

Meanwhile in France they use straws made of pasta , and the one time usage plastic cutlery has been replaced with wooden cutlery.

Unfortunately not all of it can be recycled. In fact, the vast majority of plastic cannot be recycled. It's a giant scam.
I love this. But my issue is with the Publix pasta “trays”. For instance, Green wise 4 cheese tortellini pasta. I called Publix corp. They said the tray is a mixed-material of plastic and an “oxygen” base, so it is not fully plastic. It cannot be recycled in the blue bin with other hard plastic and it cannot be out recycled in the green bin at Publix with the other plastic bags because it is not soft plastic. What do we do? It’s 2023, no more throwing away anything plastic in a landfill to take an estimated 500-1000 years to decompose if ever. The rate of our plastic creation vs the plastic decomposing rate is unsustainable, out of a balance and polluting our oceans, landfills, etc. Publix make a new pasta plastic tray asap for the fresh pasta.
They don’t mention the poor kid that has to empty the over full recycling cans every 5 minutes
All the more reason why there needs to be more availability of plastic bag and Styrofoam recycling. Towns that allow restaurants to dispense Styrofoam (and plastic bags) should, at minimum, provide a way for their residents to recycle that material. In fact, the businesses that sell/provide these materials should be providing ways to recycle those materials. But if the town did it, that would be enough. Unfortunately, many towns provide no way to recycle these things, and places like Publix are the only things available.
That “poor kid” applied for the job, accepted the job, showed up for the job. That “poor kid” is getting paid to DO that job. Don’t like the job, find another job.

Publix has been a leader in recycling for decades. Too bad very few customers bring their plastic bags to the store to have them recycled.
OR you can just bring them back and re-use next time you shop.
At a MINIMUM, Publix could ban plastic bags in its coastal stores. Sea turtles mistake them for jellyfishes. Plastic bags are cheap but Publix is not paying its true cost. Publix doesn't pay for the cleanup, Publix doesn't pay for the rescuing of the sea turtles.
Publix instead of leading by being proactive chose the comfort of the status quo. Instead of doing the right thing, they will stop using plastic bags only if they are forced to by either 1) legislation (not going to happen in Florida) or 2) public pressure / shaming.
Yes, paper bags cost more but so do accepting credit cards: that's the cost of doing business. So offset the cost with savings, like by putting solar panels on your roofs. Target has done it (check google maps, majority of Target locations in Florida are covered in solar panels). Target is also adding EV chargers, now if Publix was doing that, shopping would really be a pleasure...

The stuff they make from plastic bags is still plastic! Just stop using plastic bags.
This is what was promised to all of us during the 80s. Why is it taking until 2020s to make this a good idea again? Further... Why do I HAVE to have plastic bags ready to dispose so this can be done, rather than not need disposable plastic bags at all? Seems like having excess disposable plastic bags is just adding an extra wasteful and costly step to get to plastic furniture. 😠
