    have you lovely ladies ever tried making the bases for cream soups? You can find a great recipe on the channel Mary's Nest. I buy the ingredients in bulk, make large batches of the powdered base then add dehydrated celery (not for Sharla) and chicken boullion or powder freeze-dried or dehydrated mushroom..its a HUGE money savings and time saver. I miss my best friend down in FL. I do have a great friend here in WA that will help me but unlike me, she doesnt have a big freezer (I have 2 of the largest sized freezers, 1 chest and 1 up-right.) all she has his the freezer on top of her fridge so your recipes are awesome for us both!

      I haven't made my own cream soups, but I know they are a life saver (sometimes quite literally!) for those who have allergies and dietary issues and I assume they are probably healthier. I hadn't thought of doing dry bases though. Great idea!

    Love the little history lesson on lentils. Love history. For the last few years we get more produce from Canada at least in my state. . Love the mini cukes and there is a packet of spices and dried onions etc, from the French province Quebec and i absolutely adore it. Haven’t seen it lately in my store but I’m always looking.

      Yes! In our Club, we have a Dairy Free filter because there are so many people (some of my kids included) who are lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy.

    Does anyone know if coconut milk freezes as well as evaporated milk?

      Coconut milk seems to freeze really well. We use it in some of our curry recipes.

    I have a question do you have a recipe that has cheesy potatoes and rice? The reason I asked this as I’ve always had an issue freezing rice and when we thawed out it’s super Duper mushy and has zero taste. I have bought fried rice in the past in the freezer section, but any type of rice that we try to freeze, always turns out horrific when we go to cook it or thawed.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  Рік тому

      We don't have a cheesy potatoes and rice recipe (yet!), but we do have several rice recipes that work super well. We have Spanish Rice, Chicken Fried Rice, Sriracha Fried Rice (just had that for lunch yesterday as a matter of fact!), Chicken Asparagus Rice Bake, and a few others and they all seem to do really well. What type of rice are you using?

    I've found great prices on spices in the Hispanic section of the ethnic aisle or in Latin mercados. Often times the spices are sold in little disposable plastic pouches, so save your empty spices bottles & refill them with much less expensive, but just as flavorful versions!

    Middle Eastern grocers and Asian grocers are a great place to buy spices in bulk.We buy our spices from the local Middle Eastern grocer, we get a 1 kilo jar of minced garlic for $4, but at the supermarket we would pay $3 for a 200g jar. Same with spices, $4 - $5 for a 50g jar of spices, or $8 for a 500g bag.

    Great video! I make my own broths. I have bags in my freezer marked "veggies", Chix bones", "beef bones". People would think I was crazy if they saw my freezer. It works and saves money! Keep these videos coming. Edited to add: OMG! I just opened my freezer. I forgot! Do you save the Parm rinds for soups and sauces? I do that too.

    Province of Saskatchewan
    Canada is the world's leading producer and exporter of lentils. The province of Saskatchewan produces 95% of Canada's lentils. Canada only began growing lentils in the 1970's - now there are over 5,000 active lentil farmers in Canada. In Saskatchewan, lentils are planted in early May.

    Lol! I don't have friend I text but I do let my mom and son know about the deals! Especially this week our Albertsons is doing a buy 10 items (not just any items, but good products), and they will be only $.50 and we can do it twice. So basically 20 items for $10! This is the 3rd time they have offered this and I am doing back flips!

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  Рік тому

      We're in Alberta. We find them mostly at Save-on-Foods (Overwaitea) or Sobeys. Sobeys owns Safeways now so they might have them there on occasion too but I don't shop there so I can't say for sure. WalMarts sometimes sells by the case but I've never seen a caselot sale there other than one or two cases being on discount.

    some of us are cheese lovers, but my Mom is allergic to dairy. I make Pesto Pasta by boiling bow tie pasta, onion and peas (sometimes peas and carrots depends on which I have open) drain, add some garlic and pesto, pesto one tablespoon at a time because a little pesto goes a long way, add (I can my own chicken but you can buy some decent canned chicken that only has chicken in it, chicken makes its own broth while its canning) some canned chicken, some olives, some sun dried or even fresh depending on what I have toms, and serve with feta on the side for us cheese eaters. kalamata olives ad some extra flavor for those that can't eat cheese, I will also add some of the chicken broth if needed in the dish, as always one has to taste test. :) Anyway just a suggestion for those who are holding back a bit on the dairy, etc. also doesn't seem to need added salt, tho I sometimes add pepper.

    As far as "cleaning them out" just ring the bell and ask...they usually have a whole rack in the back ready to go... 9/10 times you are not actually clearing them out!

      @FreezerMeals101 my old store in ny I'd ask everytime there was a killer sale...docyou have more in the back? I don't want to clear you out...they would wheel a whole rack full out... 😆 the one butcher would hold 10 ribeyes off to the side with my name on them without me even calling... lol ( he knew I liked 1 inch thick. And their speck was to cut 1.25 or 1.5 inches! So he'd slice me 10 knowing I'd be there...lol) I miss that man!
