I own the AUDI A6 with BMK engine (3.0 TDI) more than 9 years (since 2009). Here some advice: after you replace the filter and drain plug, fill no more than 7 liters. Than start the engine, wait for a minute and stop the engine. Only after that check the oil level! I don't know what engine do you have, but my BMK motor have volume of 8,2 liters - it is full oil volume if the engine is absolutely drained (empty, no oil at all) which is never happened. Little bit more than half a liter always stays in the engine after oil drain. So be carefull do not overfill! All 9 years that I change the oil, I fill no more than 7,5 liter. Filling the oilfilter it's not necessery at all (may be on some much older models it is ok, but not for our cars). And do not bother about timing chains;)
Same advice from me too. But there is a longer story to that ... Fill the gap between the filter and the housing. When you start the car it has enough oil in there to send it to the timing chain tensioners. if there ain't enough oil there you risk of timing chain slippage and then comes disaster. In a bulgarian Audi forum one guy said that that's exactly what happened to his A6 after an incorrect oil change. Up to that point he had no issues with the chain tensioners - no ticking sounds at cold stars. But after that oil change one of the four chains slipped and the pistons and the valves collided.
Hello! Ive just bought this car at 210 000 km done it seems that car was well maintained, I find your video pretty useful as I will try to change DIY oil myself using your video as a guide. What are the other things I should check on this car, some common problems about it, timing chain? How do I know the timing chain has to be changed? What other repairs like this shown on this video can I do so my car is kept well running, any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
Hi there. I´m glad my videos are helpful. You should definitely change other fluids, too. The gearbox, diff, transfer case. Change the fuel filter as well. Timing chain is hard to change on these cars, because the engine needs to come out of the car. Unles you hear rattling noises, you should be OK. Also, I would change oil every 8-10 thousand km. Enjoy the car.
make some more videos about this a6 c6 3.0 tdi :) just bought one my self and as most people i dont have the money to drive to audi for every minor thing.
I know exactly what you mean... I try to do as much work on my car as possible. Sadly, I don´t have the Audi anymore. It´s BMW 530i for me now. There will be some more videos on that.
@@tonyvideochannel6871 The regular maintenance is not expensive. But there are some parts which can cause exoensive problems. However, this applies for all modern cars.
Ok video. Never use brake cleaner to clean cover. Best to use a brush to scrape loose dirt. Hose off. Then spray with wd40. It will attract road dirt but it won't dry out cover and cause cracking/ breaking down.

Hey! I just released the parking brake (e-brake works even when the engine is off) and than just let it go down very slowly off the ramps while pressing on the brake pedal. The car started to move when the brake was released, didn't need a push...
KedlubenX Ok, I bought a different ramp type. When the car is at the top of the ramp there is an horizontal segment of almost 20 cm keeping the front wheels in resting position. Your ramp is different and is sloped along the entire lenght, even at the bottom end. I am trying to figure out how to push my car down without being helped by someone. I will try to remove the ramps manually when the car is in park mode and the hand brake is activated. Considering that the hand brake exercises most of the force on the rear axle and the front wheels are free to move I should be able to do the trick. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thank you for your reply!
When front of the car on the rump and back of the car on the floor there is no level and possibly some of old oil stays in the engine, cannot be drying out completely . When you top up new one it will mix with a older one.
