It´s not like she bombed. After waiting 2 hours with great hopes she immediately knew that they would notice her scar from that angle and most likely be dismissed so she made a joke about it enhancing the scar even more.

+colten brownell I agree; however, I think Tina Fey wasn't trying to come off as cynical and depressing. Considering the length of the segment, there probably wasn't time to fully expound on her point or she was probably in a rush to tell her story and move on with whatever she needed to do afterward and she just wanted to squeeze in that point at the end about not believing in dreams. In hindsight, she probably wishes she just told her story and left instead of dropping that last line in there.
Poor Tina, she's so self-conscious about her scar, doesn't know how attractive she really is. I really don't think the scar is that prominent; I didn't notice for a long time.

Seriously? Because she said "don't believe in your dreams"? You know she wasn't being serious, right? I mean, look where she is, now. Look what she has accomplished. You honestly think she would truly tell people not to believe in their dreams? This was obviously a very personal story for her. It's not just "this one time when we went to this place...." SHE FELT INFERIOR! SHE FELT LIKE SHE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH! She felt the same way we all do, but she made it through because she believed in her dreams! She's starred on SNL and she was the main character of a show based off of her life!

considering that she's now famous...considering that she kept dreaming.....considering that we know she's a well known comedian now....I presume that she believe if you're watching the show and have a dream to be like her, you're here for a laugh and not to be depressed by a flippant comment such as "don't believe in your dream" sure, she said it but THAT IS NOT WHAT SHE SAID, per say.

Kinda hope Tina Fey was being sarcastic when she said, "don't believe in your dreams." Not that I was offended, but that doesn't sound like something a famous comedy actress would want to say without further explaining the thought behind that. Otherwise, it just comes off as cynical.
My message would be, dream big, work hard, but keep an open mind and know there will be setbacks along the way. (Yes, I know the first two parts are essentially JJ Watt's motto.)
Dreams aren't a bad thing to have, but hanging everything in your life on them is.
