Why do the Chinese owe Chen Ning Yang an apology?

  • October 1st this year is Chen-Ning Franklin Yang's 100th birthday. Yang is the most leading physicist in China and the world today. Most people know him because Chen-Ning Yang and Li Zhengdao won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957 for their joint proposal of cosmological non-conservation under weak interactions, the first time a Chinese person won the Nobel Prize.
    In 2000, "Nature" selected the 20 greatest physicists of the millennium, and he is one of them. While everyone else on the list lives in history: Newton, Einstein, Maxwell, etc., Yang is the only living physicist. Yang has created inestimable value for world physics. Without him, perhaps the physics of the whole world would have stagnated 50 years ago.
    However, such a great scientist has been criticized by his compatriots all his life. Why is this? Why don't Chinese people like Yang? Why do the Chinese owe Yang an apology?

    Wow, Dr. Yang is an incredible human being. What strikes me the most about him is that he’s a grateful person. Wherever he’s been, he has been contributing to humanity’s benefits. It’s time we are grateful for such great person. Thanks Dr. yang from the bottom of my heart.

      I thought so too, thank you for your forgiving attitude to the ones which push the boundary beyond what is acceptable or understandable to others.
      It is only natural that people reacted the way they did to the grand work that was done, especially when it didn't have a place in the homeland.
      I hope that this can change as an understanding develops a bridge between the continents.

      I consider china and south korea my home, it is not good being trapped in a hostile state for so long. Indeed one day much will be learned about the disease of physical and mental health in tchinese medicine, specifically that consciousness and intent can spread it. Our great men in the homeland know all about it, but their actions do not align well with the principle discovered. Something to do with q++ quantum relativity dynamics. I would consult nikola tesla and the tesla society for more information, since at least 1890.

    2:50 I actually disagree. Physics, chemistry, mathematics are the most important. But not every citizen needs this knowledge. It just becomes a distraction if you pour too much into children's heads.
    On the other hand, Biology is less important, BUT every citizen should know biology, they should know a healthy brain is inseparable from a healthy body because this knowledge helps them make important decisions in normal everyday. A healthy body is inseparable from healthy food, and healthy food is inseparable from healthy environment. All of this is the most basic understanding a human should have to understand itself.
    Compared to this I arhuey mathematics, physics, chemistry are less needed. If you force all kids to be super phycisists then it's more wasted time to most kids. This is a mistake the west had committed and China needs to be smarter than this.

    • @orangesnake2256
      @orangesnake2256 Рік тому +1

      In my opinion every children should learn Chinese, they should learn literature and Chinese poetry, so they can understand the civilization they inherit, they should learn biology so they can understand a healthy mind is inseparable from a healthy nature and environment. They should learn rule of law in the civil society so they can become good members who knows right from wrong.
      All these above are more important for a general citizen than advanced mathematics and physics and chemistry. Yes you should teach children a little bit of math, physics and chemistry to make them curious. If they are curious then they should go to schools that specialise in advanced math, physics, chemistry. But to most people it's just a distraction if you teach too much.

    • @orangesnake2256
      @orangesnake2256 Рік тому +1

      There are also 2 more subjects that should have higher priority than math, physics, chemistry.
      First is computer programming, if China wants to become independent of western computer science, then the Chinese citizens should learn the language of computers.
      Second is fitness. All children should have good fitness every day because a strong mind needs a healthy body.
      These two should also have higher priority than advanced mathematics, physics, chemistry.

      It is selfish to be right, and unfortunate as this may be, a superior goal, or a longer determination is an irritation to any mathematical impericalist, even scientist. The self-centric dimensionality is a representation of the 'one - ma', and the 'one +ma'. It is beyond QED, and therefore, the consciousness he has probably isn't for human consumption anyway. Hence the problems this poor man has encountered in his quest to improve the lives and intelligence of others (and indeed, all nations east and west).

      你也不過只能代表你個人罷了!楊振寧毫無疑問是二十世紀全世界最偉大的二十位,甚至也有說十位的,科學家之一.一個中國人能被全世界科學界如此崇高的推崇,捨楊振寧之外,無第二人!至於某些中國人如何評價他,絲毫沒有任何影響到他在全球物理界的世界地位.你的每位朋友都對你又做何等評價呢?又都認為你這個人如何呢?總也有讚許你,支持你的;但也有討厭你,排斥你的吧?你又能怎樣?真正偉大的人是永遠不必為自己辯解的,因為,時間浪費在那類閒言閒語上,哪怕只花上一秒鐘,都完全是多餘與無任何意義的.只有小人,生性瑣碎的平庸之輩,才會無聊到將時間浪擲於那些八卦無聊事上.在我而言,楊振寧和李政道二人都是偉大的中國科學家,也都是忠於中國的愛國者.但小鼻子小眼的某些中國雜碎是怎樣看,就由他們去吧!真正應該認真嚴肅關切與深思反省的倒是:中華人民共和國成立至今,GDP都已世界第二了,卻是迄今為止尚未產生過一位能拿到諾貝爾獎的科學家,連一個都沒有!但整天嘴砲口水卻能滿天飛,有鳥用嗎?迄今為止,所有拿到諾貝爾科學獎的華人全都是經由在美國深造後才得獎的,原因出在哪裡???楊振寧還是二十世紀全球公認的最偉大的物理學家中唯一一位現在仍在世的,這樣罕有的成就難道中國人還不懂得驕傲與珍惜?我倒是很好奇,甚至很直率地質疑:即使再過100年,怕是中國也出不了能有資格和楊振寧比肩的奇才,而這樣的質疑卻絕非過份的!也許很多中國人尚不了解何以楊振寧會如此輩受國際推崇.世上知名的物理學家無計其數,甚至每一年都有新的諾貝爾物理獎得主產生,但論"偉大"二字,他們卻都遠遠排不上,差得很遠,道理在哪裡?事實上,楊振寧能被公認為偉大物理學家,其中有一項是極為難得與希罕的,那就是他對物理學了解的全面性,這種極其淵博的知識是很驚人的,只有類似愛因斯坦,牛頓那一類神人級的大師才能達到這種廣博境界,自然而然這一類人看問題的視野也極其不凡,即始你和他們聊數學化學生物天文,他們也會興致盎然,覺得很有趣,而且會好奇不斷發問,這也是任何偉大科學家的本性與純真樸實之處

    After retiring from Stony Brook, Yang returned as an honorary director of Tsinghua University, Beijing, where he is the Huang Jibei-Lu Kaiqun Professor at the Center for Advanced Study (CASTU). He is also one of the two Shaw Prize Founding Members and is a Distinguished Professor-at-Large at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
    Yang formally renounced his U.S. citizenship in late 2015. This proves that this channel is spreading disinformation about Chinese owing him an apology. What hocus-pocus Tech Teller!
