My first thought was, "Uhoh... another ruler!" But, when the final round was trimmed, you know what? I like it!! But then again, it's a log cabin. What's not to love?!
A nice thing about wonky blocks is that they don't have to be exactly the same every time. If you need to twist the ruler slightly to get a square, you will hardly notice it in the end. Another trick to seam allowances is that you can move your needle one or two clicks to the right to help get that smaller seam without retraining your eye on the edge of your sewing foot. Test the clearance before sewing to make sure the needle still clears your sewing foot.
interesting idea but also losing the idea of wonky-ness and turning it into more perfection-ist which can be done but "squaring-up" with your final square...
I just picked my ruler up at Calico Cottage today.
Can not wait to play with this ruler. I am so excited
This is an extremely helpful tutorial. Thank you.
Love this! I already ordered my ruler and can’t wait to make a quilt. 😊
What a cool ruler this is. Love to make things wonky.
Looks so intimidating but fun!

Is there a place I can get a copy of the instructions for the wonky log cabin ruler? Mine got destroyed.
If you go to the ruler page on our website, you can download a new set! www.creativegridsusa.com/products/CGRJAW13
WOW - love it!!!
Love this!!
Would like and would have bought it had ut been designed fir a quarter inch seam and not a scant.
Can I use this with a 6 in square
What I want to know before purchasing this Wonky Trim Tool, will this still work if I'm off on the "scant 1/4" seam allowance?

@@CreativeGridsUSA Excellent advice/tip, thank you!
Is the Creative Grids 10in Wonky Log Cabin Trim Tool (CGJAW13) available in the UK?
This looks really cool but also looks like a lot of fabric waste
I agree. I wonder if it will work if you use scraps. One will need a good eye to estimate fabric size!
Lot of waste but great scraps for crumb quilting
What is crumb quilting? Thank you.
