My wife and I went to our first MTB World Cup in Snowshoe in 2021 when it was a double header for DH. DH raced Wednesday and Saturday and XC was the standard Friday and Sunday. We watched every single race except for Jr DH. Such an awesome experience! I don't know what I was blown away more by, the speed of the DHers or the speed of the XCers on the climb on their last lap.... both were absolutely ridiculous.
That sounds like an epic time!
“Everything weighs something” thx for the rim tape suggestion!!!
You bet! Good luck Matt ;)
I’m with Jeff when it comes to disconnecting from technology when I’m on the bike. It’s part of the reason that I’m not even riding with a gps unit right now. I run strava on my phone but that’s stowed in my pocket. I’m riding on trails I know well enough not to need a map. Now when I move next year to a whole new state I will probably pick up a used 530 but until then it’s music/tech free.
When it comes to keeping a drivetrain clean hot wax is the way. I have two chains - one on the bike and one already waxed and ready to go. When the chain starts to get noisy swap it out and rewax when it’s convenient. Super clean drivetrain all the time which makes cleaning the bike after a ride a quick easy task.
Always look forward to seeing the podcast on UA-cam thanks for all your hard work ❤
Thanks for watching!
I run GX Shifter/Derailleur with xx1 cranks and cassette on all my bikes
Music on the way to trails and off in the wilderness. The bone conductive headphones are amazing for cycling, had mine for nearly 3 years makes a big difference because you can hear everything
Raced two - 24 hour races - in early 2000s at Snowshoe. Did not ride as fast as the XC pros, but loved the venue. Nothing like climbing up the lift trails and rolling in the dark through rock gardens - shed some blood so my DNA is there forever!
That sounds truly epic.
Never been to a World Cup but sounds like a blast 👍
Great podcast, always excited to listen to you guys whilst working 💪
Thanks for listening :)
Oh good tip on the brake lever positioning. I'm going to try mine closer to the bar.
I usually listen to the podcast, but had to check in just to see the segment about brake lever positioning 😄
Jeff needs a Haircut!!! I ride ENVE M7 (M735) wheels and they are so sweet. My fave combo is the M7 Rims with Vittoria Agarro 2.6" front and flip the Agarro around backwards for the rear. My bike loves this combo and gives reassuring feedback for excellent bike handling...2000 + miles and the wheels are straight as an arrow and have never been trued since new even though I have burped both the front and rear before.... I run 18lbs/20lbs, front/rear and ENVE recommends no Inserts!
That sounds like an epic setup!
Another tip if you're install rim tape on an aluminum wheel. Heat the wheel up with a heat gun or hair dryer until it's just to the limit of where you feel comfortable touching it, then apply the rim tape while ensuring that you are stretching it across the wheel. I had a set of very slippery and stubborn Easton/RaceFace Arc 27's that just would not accept any rim tape no matter how clean the surface was. The heat gun finally got it to seal.
That is a great tip!
I Definitely appreciate quiet on
The trail. Looking at onyx hubs to take that to the next level
Sign me up for that FW frame! 😳
H’WORLD H’WIDE CYCLE’HRY IN DA HAUSE!!
WootWoot!!! 🙌
Top notch 👏🙂👍
love the show, keep up the good work guys. 🤘but there's one thing I must say... it would be cool if you could show some graphics (pics or vids) when talking about certain stuff, just for added viewing pleasure 😎
That would be awesome indeed! Noted :)
I'd like to see some real, objective testing of chamois cream, fnarr fnarr...😜
Challenge accepted
Listener question 🙋♂️: how many bikes can you demo in Sedona? Is it worth demoing, or best to just take your own bike?
It depends on who shows up! If you are interested in buying a new bike it's a great place to try out a bunch of different makes and models. Although it can be quite hectic when they open up the festival and everyone is running to the different tents to grab a bike. If you just want to ride Sedona, you're best bet is to go when the festival is not going on :)
So good
Liam is all business! Lol
Bean for mayor!
It’s time fellas. Get a couch and get some pro guest. From xc to dh, racing, freestyle, ceos of brands, mechanics and engineers
Been lobbying for the couch for some time now ;)
It really bothers me that you’re all standing. Please sit down. It’s making my brain tired.
Uline has rim tape!!
