- This video is from our trip to Finland in late September - I went out just before sunrise with my camera in the hope of capturing some of the Autumnal splendour 🍂
🐾 Please subscribe to see more of my videos bit.ly/2RXfyUa 👍 I've got loads of exciting nature photography trips and projects with the wildlife camera coming up 😊
I went out on a cold frosty morning with my camera, hoping to capture something of the autumnal splendour all around where we were staying in Finland. There were loads of fungi about, as well as frozen berries and beautiful turning leaves! I didn’t really have a plan for this video, so it ended up being a bit of a mixed bag, and most of the images were not really discussed much in the vlog, but I hope you enjoy them anyway 😄

you made incredible mr- 💪
I absolutely loved those pictures that you took, along with the soothing music.
Geoff, this video reminds me of my visit to Kokkala in 1976. The lake and the trees especially. Your shots are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much Janet :)
Great video 👍🌲
I really am considering nature photography because of my love of nature. I really enjoyed your b-roll and photographs. Punchy but with a real life view.
Thanks very much - I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope nature photography brings you even closer to nature :)
Nice video like the early mist
👍📷😎
I enjoy your way and photos but, it would be nice to see how you took the photos of the Divers and the Waxwings, both birds I love to see. Not a criticism but a wish.
Thanks Mel :) In both cases I didn’t have vlogging kit with me and just had my Z7 and 500pf… just in case..! I would have particularly loved to film the encounter with the divers - I was just passing the shore on my way to get something and noticed they were really close, so while they were under the water I quickly positioned myself lying on an old broken pier so I was close to the water surface and waited for them to come back up!
very interesting video. fantastic nature shots. wonderful pictures. thank you very much for posting. kind regards...
Thanks very much - glad you enjoyed it :)
Hey Geoff, I enjoy just a walk around with my camera not knowing what will happen. No plans, enjoying the sounds and feeling of nature. No Photos or video is ok because it's great just being out. Greg
Hey Greg, that's definitely a great way to spend some time :)
📷 👍 🤗
Wonderfull video Geoff 👏 and there was the image of the spiderweb I have seen on Instagram 🙂🙂 Greetings from Norway 🇧🇻
Thanks very much Alfred, and greetings from Scotland :) Yeah, I've been putting these images up on Instagram and Facebook for a few weeks already!
great vlog, Geoff. That tripod technique is pretty cool. I really enjoy the hikes with nothing planned...i actually do that quite often lol... The squirrel shots are my favorite. I need to get off the tripod more often. Take care brother
Thanks very much Kevin, glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video Geoff, what a lovely location. Really like the lake with early morning mist, lovely image. All the best Steve.
Thanks very much Steve :) Yeah, that's a fantastic location and I feel very privilaged to have a connection with it!
Great to see you out there again Geoff and an excellent video. Look like a fantastic place and love the images of the Red Squirrel. Cheers Keith
Thanks veryu much Keith :) Yeah, I reckon I got better red squirrel images there than I did on a later dedicated trip to photograph them... but that's another story...
Brilliant video Geoff.
It's nice to watch a good episode with content of and about nature, photo and what we love to do, without a lot of talk about equipment, what brand got the best and fastest framerate and autofocus etc.
I enjoyed being with you for a walk in Finland 👍
Thanks very much Rino :)
Sometimes it's difficult to step back from the technical stuff but it's very refreshing to do!
Thanks for sharing.
I wish you a pleasant December.
Best regards, Knut.
Thanks Knut, hope you have a great December too :)
Thank you very much. ◕‿◕
Nice video! I stumbled on your video because of your use of Nikkor 500mm f/5.6 E PF and glad I did!
Thanks Jim, glad you enjoyed it :)
I nejoyed your casual visit back to nature. We photograph wildlife and landscape for what we feel about the places see. It is the best of what there is, photos, great or small, still captures some sense of what we feel, What could be better. And I enjoyed seeing your photos. Thanks for sharing,
Thanks Glen - that’s a really nice description of the motivation behind this kind of casual walk-about wildlife photography :)
Hi Geoff I'm a new subscriber, thank you for taking us along in your nature walk.
Thanks very much and welcome to the channel :) Glad you enjoyed coming along!
Why not 4k?
Actually that's an interesting question: The main reason is that I'm a lazy / not very diligent film-maker, so I do shoot in 4k most of the time, and then do a lot of re-framing, cropping and movement effects in post, while still having plenty of pixels for a nice 1080p output. In addition, I think working 4k output would make my computer quite unhappy, but given the sources are mostly 4k anyway, I guess not that big a difference apart from the rendering stage.
Perhaps I could up the output resolution to 1440p and hit the middle ground for some future projects..!
