- The four sisters Debbie, Joni (1956 - 2017), Kim and Kathy Sledge tell about the song 'We Are Family' at Thanksgiving dinner. A short documentary by Top 2000 a gogo from 2002 (Dutch Public Television).
Whoa ... these women are STILL stunning 😍😚😚
Well these clips are from 2002
I am from Pittsburgh. In 1979 the Pirates won the World Series and this was the teams rallying song.
Great memories.
I still have a massive crush on Kathy Sledge, she is still beautiful
WOW! One of the worlds greatest songs ever! Unifying for everyone! All over the world!
I really pray the Sisters can mend their relationship. RIP Joni
RIP Joni💕💕💕💕💕
Beautiful ladies. I grew up listening to them.
Wow...what a beautiful interview!
Heart warming to see such a close family.
They haven't aged a day! One of the best female groups of all time. I would love to hear them back on the radio with new music.
Thanks Giving was the perfect time to capture this warm and loving American family!
This family has love. Just beautiful.
They all beautiful but Joni was the prettiest
Such a beautiful family. You can see the closeness between the sisters.
Family yes, but it doesn’t hurt to have a catchy and funky sing to go with it 😘
Just beautiful. God bless.
Wow! Still Gorgeous!!!
Had a crush in the youngest one when I was a kiddo.
GREAT song!
love it when they were on the float! so much fun! awesome! :)
The Sisters ❤❤❤❤
Joni looks like Mama Sledge 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
and that doggie is cute! :)
Cathy : "We are so close" . Sister goes for hug. "Get off!" 4:36
Man I remember being in the late 90s singing this song
Would loved to have heard about the writing and recording of the song with Nile Rodgers etc.
Wow! These woman have NOT aged
Mi primer disco fue de este maravilloso grupo 🇪🇸😍😍😍😍
Wow at least they’re still close
Kathy still the best singer of the group
And Kim still the prettiest
Your all Beautiful 🤩
Beautiful Family
“SISTER SLEDGE” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
4:38 ONWARDS ALWAYS BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES
At 1:35, is that Carol, the fifth Sledge sister?
Yes.
Nice to know!
Cool video!!
Very cool
I can’t believe that they do not mention Nile Rodgers who wrote the song and produced it.
This video is old, because the the sister JoanieSledge has passed away abut four or five years ago!
Boa tarde ❤
Continuam belas, e as músicas inesquecíveis. Eliezer Theodoro, Ceará Brasil.
First ladies of funk.
'Nuff said.
You can see and tell they didn't care for Kathy. So sad
Yeah and it’s very unfortunate!
Fantastic.... feminine and not fat, a relative rarity.
So did anyone notice the little side sarcasm (3:45 -3:46) comment from Joni after Kathy talked about everyone in the crowd recognizing them? .....😂 " Like were sisters or something"...smh as if the crowd didn't recognize ALL the sisters. Poor Kathy😅
I thought they weren't speaking to Kathy?
It was said that they reconciled shortly before Joni's death....
This is very old… their mother died in 2007.
Going to staple the vicar....
I love this channel. But the title is ‘The Story Of The Song’ and it doesn’t really talk about the song, how it came about, who wrote it, the recording process etc. This is the poorest video I’ve seen on this channel yet. Guess you can’t always get it right 🤷♂️
That's nice, but it doesn't tell us the story behind the song itself.
Out of the Millions of Members On 45cat.com I am the only Owner of their very first Record. Still not available on CD, despite many greatest Hits and Best of Compilations.
TheBudgie29 What was the first record?
Wow please please please the remaining 3 get back together I don't want see that bs group deb got .
Surprised the sisters allowed kathy to be with them here
Uh, no there Mother, wouldn't go for that!
😂
They "forgot" to mention that this song has also become a LBGT anthem. But it is well known, how conservative and religious these sisters have always been, so no wonder
Joni had some very nice things to say about how the LGBT community has embraced this song in interviews conducted shortly before she passed away. Sister Sledge has also headlined Atlanta Pride. Whatever their personal beliefs may be, they have shown love towards a community that loves them. That's what matters. It's not really about what you believe, it's about how you treat those who believe differently than you do. As for "forgetting" to mention it in this video, the sisters didn't edit the piece, they just appeared in it. We don't know the full scope of what they talked about.
They’ve performed at several Pride events over the years and have often acknowledged the song being an anthem in the lgbtqia community
No actual story behind that song, total waste.
You obviously missed the point
RIP Joni💕💕💕💕💕
