Thank you for your uplifting stories! They always significantly boost my mood! As a Brit, I am so glad there is no more coal being generated in my country!
I remember when my mum would take us up north where she worked on a farm way back when. All the homes had coal stoves and the smell and soot burned my nose.
Hopefully the vertical farm can survive. All of the other others I’ve ever heard of went out of business because they can’t provide a product at a cost-effective price.
The bees were the good news story I enjoyed the most because even with the vertical farming being "successful" (not needing bees), we still heavily need them.
It would be (no pun intended) very interesting and fun to explore a vertical farm that also produces honey. Honey flavour can be affected by the plants the bees get their nectar from, and with the whole system being closed, there would be minimal risk of disease to both plants and bees!!! A win win 😊 plus delicious honey!!
Love your videos. A bit doubtful about the "worlds first vertical strawberry farm" claim tho. Personally I was involved with a Swiss startup that did the same. And vertical farms, while still niche, are not a new thing and pop up every once in a while, at least here in Europe. A vertical farm with the capability to mass produce and stay viable and competitive with the ultra optimized practices of regular farming, that will be the next big challenge.
Thanks for the great stories! It makes me feel better just knowing you posted a video :) I would like to mention that in the Diabetes part, a "hyper" is when you have too much sugar and a "hypo" is when you lack sugar. Hyperglycemia is bad for the body on the long run, but a hypoglycemia can be fatal in a few minutes if untreated. It is important to mention the hypoglycemia part because a lot of people are scared to give sugar to a type 1 like me, but refusing to give sugar or give "fake" sugar without us knowing it's fake can be extremely dangerous. I'm so happy you covered this story tho, I haven't heard about it before! so cool!!!
Love how you explain what pollen and pollination is. I'm pretty sure people who do not know what that is, are not interested or able to understand this kind of dose of good news
The UK news about the last coal power station closing, whilst sounding good ignores the issue of Draxx power station. Draxx is highly controversial, as it was converted from coal to wood chip. It's arguably worse for the environment due to where some of these wood chips come from, which in some cases has been from deforestation. It's also reliant on massive 'green' subsidies from the tax payer.
About the tax payer --- coal has _also_ been subsidised heavily by the taxpayer too. I don't get why people act like it's only an issue for clean energy.
I want to make a small addition. It doesn't change the importance of the news and its validity. We don't know the cause of type 1 diabetes talked about here but we do know the cause of type 2 which is consuming too much sugar and carbohydrates.
Always look forward to these, Regis. Did I hear a Hania Rani song in there for #1? I thought I did, but just thought I'd ask. Thanks again for these updates!
Something is off with the vertical strawberry farm area size. Either it's not 3700 sq meters or it's not the same as two soccer fields. One standard sized soccer field is roughly 7000 sq meters (recommended size is 105x68 meters)
Uhm during the story about the canal du nord you say that at it's narrowest you say the canal is only 6 meters wide, but then you show a measurement of a bridge going over the canal. Did I misunderstand something or is that not even related?
Vertical farms have been tried and test for the last decade and a half, it requires a lot of energy that makes it unusable for anything but cash crops, but not the normal cash crops. In fact, so far only marijuana has been profitable enough to sustain it. I mean they are basically greenhouses that trade natural sunlight and heat, for lots of LED lights. They could work but the costs have to be brought WAY down.
Shame we cant have nice things here in the states (stem cell and related research) because a select few have feels about it. That said great stuff here
Although I am not a sufferer, any improvement in addressing mental health issues would have such a significant impact on society at large that this news of improved treatment is my preferred news.
Huge numbers of people have come off all diabetic medications after switching to a meat, and unsweetened Dairy way of eating. For most people this is all that is required if you are type 2.
Strawberry lover from Canada. I whole heartedly disagree. We grow strawberries year round in green houses and they taste just as wonderful as the ones grown in season. The best part is there are no pesticides when you grow in greenhouses! Strawberries are the #1 fruit with the most pesticides. I believe all produce should be grown in greenhouses just for that alone.
Except the small matter that these turbines kill hundreds of thousands of migrations birds every year. Don’t last more than a decade and are left to rot in the earth because repairing and upkeep is too expensive. But a nice idea. Just needs a bit of fine tuning. 💖🙏💖
how are these 'facts' checked? who did the counting? is that another AI fake news? anyway improvements to wind turbines start to produce enclosed blades or similar systems but at the moment it is only for smaller units.
Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease and not (except if this new treatment works) curable, preventable, or entirely predictable. Type 2 is curable, but that one was not the focus of this story.

Fun fact. In Greater Manchester you can now recycle pots, tubs and trays.
"Penn University were a buzz"- My Guy 😂👌
Thank you for your uplifting stories! They always significantly boost my mood!
As a Brit, I am so glad there is no more coal being generated in my country!
Curious, though, what was that "No data" square about?
Same
@@CrimsonA1means that no production data was reported from any coal companies from that point on, meaning no coal was being generated. Good job UK!

yup, always cheaper to clearcut the rainforest. hopefully tarrifs/taxes can change that like they did with coal in the UK.
Great stories! That the UK has ended the coal era is amazing, as is the fact that new bee species have been found - not one, but SIX!

Jeremy Clarkson should get on that vertical farm idea
good job

Hyperglycemia is not called a hypo, though. Hyperglycemia is, not the same. ;)
STRAWBERRIES!

Yeah I saw that to, but likely it's just someone (or AI) that misinterpreted the image.
We can now reprogram an adult cell into a stem cell & then give it instructions to become an insulin- producing cell. Wow!

You really need to explain pollunation nowadays? What weird times we're living in.
I know it sounded like an explanation of pollination written for aliens, haha
35 seconds let's go!

based

There is no evidence to back up your alternative fact.
Type 2 diabetes can NOT be cured by eating meat.
yes, but the woman had type1 diabetes, which is impossible to control without regular injections at present. Hence the interest of this promising news
@@nct948 There is also the problem of what is causing the ballooning of type one incidence as an immune system response to cause unknown.
@ absolutely
Food from the warehouse never will taste as same as food under the sun
There is absolutely not a single shred of empirical evidence to back your feelings

turbines suck

Diabetes is easily reversed. No one is willing to think about how.
Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease and not (except if this new treatment works) curable, preventable, or entirely predictable. Type 2 is curable, but that one was not the focus of this story.
what do you suggest?
