- Hey guys! 👋
Welcome to my ultimate guide on choosing a Cambridge college! This is a major decision that could result in a difference of THOUSANDS of pounds in bursaries… there can also be substantial differences in welfare support, the ‘academic environment’ and workload. This can have BIG differences on your experience and interview, so it’s best to be as informed as you can!
I’ve split the video into some main sections:
1. Introduction
2. What even is a Cambridge college?
3. Which Cambridge colleges can you apply to?
4. Financial support
5. Welfare differences between colleges
6. Academic environment and workload
7. Location, location, location
9. College size
Here are the key resources and links that I mention in the video:

Brilliant video Maria, some really interesting info in there. My son has just got an offer for Medicine at Downing, just has to get the grades now!
Thank you so much, and big congratulations to him! You must be very proud
@@mariaizmirlieva We are thank you. It looks an amazing place to study. Good luck with the rest of your course 👍🏻
Thank you Maria, another useful sourcing of information 😃👍 Have a great day 🌞🌞😎😎
This is a great video, thanks!
thanks for the video! im looking to apply and boy was it useful
Thank you! ♥️
How can I find information about the academic environment and workloads of different colleges?
Great question! Going to the open days is a great place to start as you can ask students directly. It's also worth looking at student forums like the student room and reaching out to current students online. :)
@@mariaizmirlieva Thanks! This was such a helpful video and got me to consider factors I hadn’t before.
This was a really helpful video! What colleges would you say have the best gardens/green spaces? :)
Thank you so much! Honestly, I would probably saw Newnham, Girton and Jesus have some of the best green space!
@@mariaizmirlieva Thanks, I've seen some of Newnham online it's really gorgeous, if you were to walk from girton to the centre of town how long would that actually take? I've heard about it being really far away
@@Fiona-cg7jj as someone from Girton, you don’t walk into town, most people I know cycle and some take the bus. Walking would take like an hour, but don’t let it put you off - lots of people I know could barely cycle before but now do it everyday and I can’t recommend Girton enough if you like green space and feeling a little outside of the bustle of the centre!
Great video and thanks for not saying "Like" every other word!
what colleges are good for english lit? im international so it's a bit more difficult for me to hear from students and find information on colleges
21 is mature? Most students I knew 50 years ago didn't even start maturing until 25 (most females) to 30 (mostly males). There were exceptions, but the generalities stood.
mostly because 21 is the age you start postgraduate studies
Gracias 🤍
