- Today I'm looking at the Black Diamond Moji 100-lumen lantern. I have yet to test it in the field, but here's a preview of what you can expect from this great little lantern. I haven't seen any previews/reviews for this on youtube, so I hope you'll enjoy it :)
I've had this lamp for years and never knew it dimmed. Thank you for this.
You're very welcome. I bet that was a nice surprise!
Got one, plan to test it next month. I like that it can hang from the tent and sit level on a table.
I'm gearing up for the new camping season, traded my 3 man tent for a 6 man and I was looking for a new lantern type light to go in the new tent. I was looking for something compact but bright enough to light up the tent, figured 100 lumens variable would be about right. Then I saw your review of this light and you sold me. I picked up the light today and I must say I am quite pleased with it. I have not tried it in the tent yet but I have tested it in the darkness of my bedroom and yeah, it will do the job nicely I think. Thanks for the review dude, they should pay you royalties for any sales you generate :)
Thank you, my friend. I'm very happy with this little light as well. I've used it several times since making this video and I haven't been disappointed. Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad my review was helpful! :)
Update, I used it for the first time in my 6 man Coleman easy up tent last weekend, very happy I got it. Lights up the rent nicely on 100 lumens and perfect as a night light at 4 lumens. Thanks again!
Hey, nice review! 😉. I realized I hadn’t actually watched this yet.
Nice. It has a lot of views, and the lantern is still going strong!
thank you, I will def be purchasing this now.
Not trying to be negative just informative.
I bought this and a UST splashflash at the same time.
I returned the Moji because the 25 lumen UST performed slightly worse but with 1 aaa battery and 1/3 the size and 2/3 the price.
I spent the extra 5.00 and exchanged it for 2 more splashguards.
Now I have light everywhere and my lady can grab one to make dinner or use the washroom or whatever.
.
FYI I used a lux meter and the 25 lumen splashflash registered 22 lumens and the 100 lumen Moji registered 28 lumens.
My eyes agreed.
The Moji lasted 1 1/2 hours longer but with 3 times the batteries.
Just sharing my honest findings with you.
I hope it's useful info for you.
Not negative at all. Since I posted this 3 years ago, I've moved on to less expensive lanterns with more lumens than you can shake a stick at. Thanks for the insight!
Utah Steve what do you use now instead of this one?
I have both. The UST splashflash is also waterproof although it doesn't float in water. It's super small and fits on your keychain and super bright for its size. I was so impressed I bought many to give to my whole family and some friends. I love the moji as well for the soft yellow light it emits. The soft light resembles a candle to me. It's very calming and soothing. But I don't find the battery life to be as good as the splashflash
Just got mine. Sweet little unit. Not sure if it'd be able to take much in way of water.. not that it says it's waterproof, but just sayin
From what I've read, the lantern is water resistant...but not waterproof. I probably should have included that info in the video. Thanks for looking out for it. I'm pretty happy with mine and it's still running strong :) (just don't go swimming with it, haha)
How do you replace the battery in these?
I show it at 1:05. It just twists off, 3 AAA batteries. hope this helps!
