Beautiful sound. I am singing this with my choir , a much much older choir and hopefully once we perform it we can do it half as good as this. Gorgeous.
This was my favorite in choir as a first soprano. My hubby did this on in madrigals. Sometimes we just burst out into this one. And I’m 51. School choir was a long time ago!!
What a beautiful performance. You have all done very well. The pitch, dynamics and facial expression were excellent. You looked very professional and looked like you were enjoying it
Great work with these exceptional voices! I'm sincerely grateful you posted this wonderful performance of one of my favorite compositions! Rutter is a without doubt a genius. I know his arrangements are not so easy to execute, so it's very obvious these voices (and ears) were carefully chosen. Thank you Gondwana Singers!!
Blow, blow, thou winter wind, Thou art not so unkind As man’s ingratitude; Thy tooth is not so keen, Because thou art not seen, Although thy breath be rude. Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly: Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly: Then, heigh-ho, the holly! This life is most jolly. Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky, That dost not bite so nigh As benefits forgot: Though thou the waters warp, Thy sting is not so sharp As friend remembered not. Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly...
You are very good and Rutter is very brilliant! My choir sang "Candlelight Carol" during one of our last performances using a new arrangment. Write this down on the research: you will love it for sure! Corale Novarmonia - Candlelight Carol (J. Rutter)
Further explanation: While it IS now common for "heigh" to be pronounced "hi" (this is how Merriam Webster suggests the word should sound) it was NOT the pronunciation of the word when Shakespeare wrote the original text. (IPA in link below) We should be true to the poet while singing :) books.google.com/books?id=bY1lAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA75&lpg=PA75&dq=shakespeare+pronunciation+of+heigh&source=bl&ots=QdMElY8fth&sig=m1_8s_tmok4O3Yt6cBT4FBeGkOc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiXg6XPl-fPAhUJbj4KHQizC5IQ6AEISzAK#v=onepage&q&f=false
sounds great, but you guys need to work on your facial expression. most of you looked like either you were bored or you wanted to attack me through the computer screen, lol.
Love the rendition

Beautiful performance! I love the slightly faster tempo, along with the phrasing, tone, diction, blend and balance ... and ... everything! Bravo!
Beautiful
That is lovely. I now have shivers down my back and you have had me in tears.
I just got this piece in choir! This sounds so pretty!

Wow. I echo a comment about possibly the best performance I've seen/heard on the internet!
This is magic, so great to see such professionalism and appreciation for John Rutter's music. Bravo tutti !

It took me a long time to find a recording on UA-cam of this piece that I liked, and this was it! :) Beautiful tone!
Beautiful Piece!
Beautiful performance. One of my favorites by Rutter.
Fantastic, this gives me hope for the younger generation.
strongercoffee this was shot in 2010 so they are easily millennials and in their 20’s now
GREAT! Fantastic voices and wonderful way to make music! Congratulation! Greetings from a Belgian Conductor.
I truly enjoyed your video. Thank you for this blessing this cold November night in Kingston, Ontario CANADA

Corale Novarmonia - Candlelight Carol (J. Rutter)
Magnificent performance. Perfect!
Bravissimi tutti!
So great, I am looking for school choirs from Sydney. Thank you guys.
Rutter had this amazing ability to write what would otherwise be pretty standard stuff but he layered voicing in a skillful way!
Tempo may be a tad fast, but very musical with a wonderful conductor
👍🏼👍🏼🍾🍾
sang this choral piece...it's HI ho sing HI ho... not hey ho
Actually it's Heigh ho !. In english this usually rhymes with sleigh or neighbour, and it is the way most choirs sing it ;)

Jess Think of it in a choral sense, Hey flows much easier and sounds cleaner than Hi.
Beautiful! I like so much better than the Cambridge Singers, who have excess tongue tension.
