Some days are better, some are worse! I'm building another 10/22 now, my other has thousands of rounds thru it over the years. We just plink for fun or play battleship so 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards with cheap ammo is a great day for us! Enjoy your videos!
As far as the BXR is concerned. I'd get the bolt out, break it down, all the way, clean, clean, clean, and polish what you can. If that doesn't do it, it would have to go back! Good luck sir!❤❤❤
I had issues shooting Eley Semi-Auto Benchrest (SABR) ammo through one of my KIDD built 10/22 rifles. It did the same issue as your Bergara BXR in the video. My other KIDD (same type build but with heavy and longer barrel was only difference) was no issue. It was a slight tolerance issue between the receiver and bolt. KIDD quickly (excellent customer service) sent me another bolt (2 actually) and found a pairing of bolt and receiver that then ate every type of ammo with no issue and still accurate! When I had issues, the Eley lubricant seemed to “gum up” the chamber face, making a mess. When I switched to SK ammo (Long Range at the time), it didn’t seem to have as many “light strikes” but enough to wonder if it was the bolt. Turns out that changing the bolt resolved the issue and no “light strikes”, no feed or extraction issues. With all that said, I found that for my 10/22 rifles, I am not fond of Eley’s lubricant and prefer the Lapua and SK oily type lubricant as it makes less “mess” in my receiver/chamber area.
If stripping and cleaning that bolt (check for signs of wear indicating bindings) doesnt help things I would inspect the brass that comes out with those lite strikes, paying close attention to how much of the outer rim of the cartridge is impacted. If you see that the firing pin is going over the edge, the rifle will benefit from firing pin profiling. Essentially you are tuning the firing pin to stike just inside the edge without the majority of its force going into the folded over brass on the edges. Thanks for the videos!
I've seen videos of guys doing this for their CZ457's. In fact I did this to my CZ 457 MTR. The firing pin hit away from the rim after the modification is very deep and deliberate. This will help a lot if he primer did not flow to the rim.
@@_JimS when it's striking on the rim it has to overcome the resistance of the double folded brass before it can do anything else. It ends there with a weak spring. This is completely avoided by profiling the pin not to strike that double folded area. The difference is so noticeable its actually audible. Pull a bunch of lead and dump the powder and try the primed brass as you are slowly taking a bit off the side of the pin... as soon as you clear that double folded brass consistently you literally HEAR the difference. Short of machining error on the "gunsmith's" part I've never seen it hurt accuracy and has always improved SD/ES for me.
That same gun was giving you drama last time if I remember rite, got to be something ass about with it bro, keep up the great work mate, cheers Yogi ✌️
That’s exactly why I never pull the trigger to let pressure off the striker or hammer spring. I’ve seen accidents first hand happen bc people get to use to do that.
I like watching your channel. I have some high-end air rifles in .22 and .25 cal. And my .177 that are as accurate as those 22s but half or more than half the cost on ammo. The day state huntsman pcp. And the caliber cricket 60. And the brocock concept. The .177s are shooting 850 fps 22s are around 1000ish .25 cal is 950 to 1000. But very consistent if they are regulated
upgrade the trigger pack with a timney . i did to my BXR and no more light strikes. i also went and purchased a Titanuim firing pin from GRANDMASTER and it seems to be more consistant especially when deal with AMMO like ELEY
Great video! I have had many instances when using Eley (some lots) that U get light strikes and failure to eject, even on bolt action rifles. Think it had to do with rim thickness. For the 10/22 I would remove the muzzle break and try it again.
The failure to fire is probably with the ELEY ammo. I never have any failures with ammo firing except when I use any type of ELEY ammo. This is true for my 3 rifles...Vudoo, Lithgow, and Kidd. I think it has to do with rim thickness and headspace. ELEY ammo usually has rim thickness around .041 while SK and other ammo thickness is usually about .043.
I've never had a problem with CCI or Eley going bang in any 22 I own. It's got to be a problem with the rifle. Maybe a cleaning will help or maybe it's a trip back to Bergara.
Possible you have bolt drag with loaded magazines? Have you noticed scratches or damage to the cases and bullets? Perhaps try some sk ammo like their high velocity that may cycle better. Semi auto function and reliability issues really frustrating hopefully you can work it out. One easy fix go back to the TM22, that rifle seems to run on anything you feed it!
Somethings up with that BXR… mine shoots CCI Sv like a dream, had 3 or 4 misfeeds in 350 rounds so far, average group at 50 is about 3/4” with the standard velocity for me.
IMO this ammo is disappointing considering its price. It should be not only more accurate but also more consistent in accuracy. The Bergara problems ? The gun is not functioning properly and we know there is an issue with the firing mechanism, This may be an alignment issue of parts as a part may be bent or may require shimming. There may also be an issue with the actual firing pin itself. They're really easy to take apart and examine.
If that Bergara is still doing that crap. I would call them. Maybe they will send you a new bolt or know of some issue with it. 🤔 I know I had a sh*t ton of issues with that ammo in bolt guns. I would never get it again for sure. But CCi almost always without fail goes pop. So I am thinking the Bergara has a small issue somewhere. I'm glad to see the Ruger likes that huge azz 50 cal flash hider 😂😅 But hey, man, whatever works, right?? You might play around with different sizes of them? Might be able to bring it in even more 😉

Yea my BXR had the same issue. I switched out the Firing pin with a new one and bought timney 2 stage trigger pack and no more problems
Thanks for your vids from the uk that Bergara rifle definitely needs to go back as the problems you are having seem to be a recurring theme
Ya I’m done with these garbage semi autos I’ll still to the bolt action rifles
Grazie sempre per i tuoi video,ma i Bolt action sono un altro pianeta per me 😉
That same gun was giving you drama last time if I remember rite, got to be something ass about with it bro, keep up the great work mate, cheers Yogi ✌️
Ya starting to hate semi automatic 22’s
Great video !
Glad you enjoyed it thanks again

Check the geometry of the Bergara firing pin it maybe off. I bought a 10/22 that didn't work very well re-ground the firing pin and that fixed it.
In my opinion you shouldn’t have to modify it for it to work. Definitely was not happy and am not happy with both these rifles
974 to 1076 fps. Yuck.
Cmon eley.

Just change the hammer spring on the Bergara . It is easy to do and it should cure your problem.
The 1022 seems to be stringing shots vertically and at an angle.Maybe have a look and see if the barell is making contact with the stock?
I opened up the barrel channel more before this video.
@@BROTUNED Ah,ok.I thought it was worth suggesting just in case.I do enjoy your videos and i'm subscribed.Carry on.
No pal it's the gun those guns are junk all you can make out of both of them.
Beagleman

Ya the tm22 runs great same as with all my Gsg rifles

Shooting frustrated sucks!
I would never guessed you'd be having these types of woes.

Did you lubricate the rifle
Yes I keep them clean and lubed
That bergara needs to go back and get fixed you should not be seeing so many failures with it

It's definitely not the brake it is the weight. Put card board backing behind your target so you don't get big paper tears.
it could be the mags mabe
