Sea hawk is by far the best,I painted a 14ft Jon boat that had small holes in it everywhere. I painted the whole boat inside a out.Six years later the boat still takes on no water, no chipping flaking or cracking of the paint at all . this boat go's in saltwater and gets plowed up on shore hits rocks, logs or anything else in the way.I got drunk and was camping on a island I pulled the boat up on shore and it turned sideways and smashed by waves slamming against rocks for 3 days, dents yes but paint still 100%. My brother and me also painted his 40ft boat that is left year-round at the Marina in the water right around the same time we painted the Jon Boat.Same thing, the bottom paint is more than doing its job.my house is surrounded by marinas and three of them only use this product now.
WaterfrontVacations1 Hi, What is the best product to use as the 1st coat direct to bare sanded down steel,to protect against rust and also waterproofing?
Sea Hawk's high-build epoxy primer TUFF STUFF is what you’d want to use. Here’s a link to the TUFF STUFF web page: www.seahawkpaints.com/product/tuff-stuff-high-build-epoxy-primer/
Quick question: I just sanded down a metal keel to a fine finish and applied a rust treatment paint for metal. I now have a very smooth gloss finish. Will anti foul stick to this or should I apply something beforehand? Thanks in advance. Paul
i think it depends on the rust treatment, you may still need a barrier coating to help seal it, also what bottom paint are you using? The guys at Sea Hawk may be able to answer the question better (800) 528-0997
Sandblasting a boat hull does a TON more damage than good! I'm more than willing to bet that sandblasting was responsible for a decent portion of the hull damage.

Great video! So I bought roughly 14 boxes of baking soda at Stop n' Shop. How to do I get this into transfer case to help repaint? Thanks!

What about thru hull fittings? Did you leave those in place and just paint around them?
David Duncan Was wondering exactly that.
Allan Peda yes just paint around them
great video there skipper

could be, but I have seen other boats blasted with NO issues
And not a drop of paint on him hahaha
Too bad the video was basically a sales pitch. Good info there otherwise
nothing about application technique? Looks like a terrible job to me. What happened to a bottom being smooth?
BIG FAIL on sandblasting the hull, AND your using actual sand, which is a very serious and potential hazard to the person doing the sandblasting.
tks,
i was wondering about the sand my self, but it is what the marina used, PS: the marina is out of business.
