The #1 resource in church production.
''Sounds like a magic room'' went by underappreciated lol
Pretty sure the vast majority of churches use dynamics, so the title should be: How to increase mic bleed, get condensors.
Nice!
lol exactly
I was using a wireless Shure KSM9 but i switched to a Beta 58A due to mic bleed. Im Happy with the results now.
+1, Beta 58s are working great for me
Is there much difference between Beta 58A and SM58? I record our rehearsals (in a very well treated rehearsal room) with a digital mixer and the bleed from the drum into the vocal mic is almost as loud as the vocal! Very hard to mix afterwards.
@@themadpaddler9043 we recently changed the layout. I used to be facing the drummer and now I’m in the same position but rotated 90° (side facing the drummer). Plus we added two absorption panels in front of the drummer. It made a big difference but drum bleed is still an issue in our mixes and one of the reasons for which we are considering to move to electronic drums.
What was the final microphone capsule choice? I got a feeling I know what it is.
Great lesson
Try Lewitt mtp 740 cm, it's condenser mic. ☺️
Can youshow the comparison?
I wanna hear the comparison
SM58 or Beta58 for the win!
Big fan of the Audix OM7. Nice vocal mic with better sound than most and best feedback and bleed rejection I've found. But I'm also a drummer and suggest investing in some Zildjian Kerope cymbals. Yes, very expensive.. But very quiet cymbals with incredibly good sound. Some cymbals that are good for bleed have no sustain, just a short burst of sound. The Kerope series is a full well bodied cymbal with lots of sustain, but lower volume than almost anything you'll find. You can turn up the drum over heads and get great sounds, but don't get all the bleed into the vocal mics.
You mentioned condenser capsules..
What did you mean? We can buy capsules of our choice and put them on different mics? (New guy here).
Some wireless mics have the ability to change the capsule (the mic head) to something else in order to get a different sound or desired result, like how Lee wanted a different capsule to reduce cymbal bleed. I've mostly seen aftermarket capsules for Shure mics.
No surprise. That shure mic is an Beta 58. Super Cardioid. Tighter pic-up pattern.
Still waiting for what you switched to after the beta 58
Think the headline here is a bit misleading. It should be clear for everyone that condensers like the Neumann KMS105 or the Shure KSM9 have an incredible sound for lead singers but they are usually not the best choice for a loud environment on the stage.
I personally do not like the sound of the mentioned cheap mic (SM58 or the beta58). But they are constructed for exactly this situation: A very loud rock band on stage with a lot of bleed.
Headline isn't misleading at all. You're knowledgeable to a level that many are not in the audio world. We exist to teach everyone at all levels of audio. Thanks for your thoughts.
@@mxurocks Got it.
Soooo what is the mic that you settled with? senheiser??
It's a Shure Beta 58A. it's supercardioid polar pattern is meant to reduce any off-axis noise
Se electronics V7. ;)
Hm man Idk if it’s just me but I knew this years ago.....Supercardoid pattern dynamic mic on a loud stage beats a condenser mic at feedback rejection any day of the week
I live and die with SE V7s
Woah awesome!
What mic did he switch to after the beta58?
Probably the SM58 based on the price of $99
My moneys on the SE V7. Same price point and it’s fantastic
everybody knew this before your smart test 🤣
My singers love their condensor mics, so do I. We voted and replaced the drummer for a more chill and disciplined drummer. Problem solved. 😎
Ha , 😂😂
😂😂
😂
Which one is the $99 one?
SM58 capsule.
I believe it’s the SE V7 MC1
Yes, Se electronics V7
@@charlesryan8476 oh right. The $150 is a Beta58 right? V7's sound so nice.
@@tomazklancnik7760 How do you know that? The SM58 is also around that cost...
So y'all not gonna tell us what the $99 mic was?
At that price point they'd all be identically built, probably in the same two factories from the same component parts sourced from the same suppliers. Copper can only be copper, ya know?
Most likely the Se V7. $99 and it's similar to beta58, seen a lot of people switching from 58's to v7's
I'd be guessing the Lewitt MTP 550DM, but I'm not sure
my guess is SE V7x, similar polar pattern to beta58
First like. Let’s go
You earned it.
Well yeah that's because the 58 has less highs than the other mics. If you EQ it to sound like a condenser, you will get cymbal bleed of doom.
Or get a drummer that doesn't beat the hell out of the drums.
Never going to happen. I've always seen them behind plexi in Churches
What’s the point if you aren’t going to say what these mics are?
The first one he talked about was the shure beta58. Not sure about the 100 dollar one
that's basic live sound knowledge...i thought i was gonna see a new discovered magical technique.
That's great that you know that! A lot of our content is geared towards people starting out in the production world. Sounds like MxU isn't for you since you're such an expert! See ya!
@@mxurocks I know nothing about this channel and I'm not an expert. I just got baited because of the video title. Hoping to get some new knowledge.
@@dispersemedia ...so this video isn't for you then. what do you want them to do about it?
@@zcb27 I don't want them to do anything. It's their channel, do whatever they want. I just wanted to express my reaction. Take it as it is.
Ya , me too. I agree. Not rocket science
