@@SpartanShepard In fact, no. While Under Pressure was sampled in Ice Ice Baby, the production added an extra note at the start of the second phrase. As such, it is possible to tell one from the other.

Loki's story is definitely a tragic one. The constant comparison's to Thor and living in his shadow, being fed dreams of being King by a father who was never gonna let it happen. Then finding out he was never Asgardian to begin with and his entire family (minus Thor) lied to him his whole life. He really had no idea who he was. Sif was right in the sense he was always jealous of Thor, but it was the people in his life that made him feel less than wat he was. Really, all his actions from Thor onward, to me, just come from a place of pain, sadness, loneliness, and being made to feel unworthy of anything 😢 not to say he doesn't love his family still, but nothing can go back to how it was after all that .

To be fair, when Odin told his sons that they were "both born to be kings", he didn't think he was lying…exactly. He had his plan to make Loki King of Jotunheim in mind. It was just that Loki thought Odin meant that either of them could rule Asgard, when Odin was never going to let that happen.
The problem is that Odin had literally 1000 years to fill Loki in on the details, and he never bothered to do so. And Tony Stark thought HOWARD sucked at communicating! Heh.

In Norse mythology Loki is actually a full giant, son of Laufey. Odin adopted him to make peace with the giants.
In that mythology, the asgardians are the forces of civilization, heroes that conquer nature. And the giants are the forces of nature themselves.
Loki, is "the wild fire", a tricky force that can be used for the good (warm people, cook a meal) or bad (ignite a forest).
Loki is known to do the sh*t and so solve his own sh*t... The only thing that he couldn't (and didn't want to) to fix was the death of Balder.

this is i think one of my favorite MCU films definitely one of my favorite origin films its just the class and charm of the film and the near shakespearean type of storytelling and filmmaking it has and shows and its all in all a great story its funny how you said before in Iron man 2 how you were wondering they would ever pull off a movie with Norse space gods that have magical powers and they did it perfectly they take those gods and bring them down to our level in the simplest of ways Thor is literally made human by being humbled from being sent to Earth we see how when Sif and the warriors three show up he says he can never return to Asgard and that they should not have come he has accepted the responsibilities of his actions and the ending where he hopes to make Odin proud and Odin saying he already is as well as him going to Heimdall to check on Jane is the perfect ending to his story he now knows he isn't the best and most important person in the universe and that he still has lots to learn plus i just love the glorious gold and overall aesthetic of Asgard in both this one and Dark World as well as this is the first film in the MCU that takes us out of our world into another one sure eventually we get Guardians of the galaxy and other space films and settings in the MCU but this one is the first to introduce it to us love this film and love yall! yalls intro are just the best amount of chaotic hilarity and are quickly becoming my favorite thing about these videos

Notes: The music band "KISS" had their own "Marvel" comics, and they have one CBM because of them. I was hoping to hear their song about being a god of thunder and rock and roll in this movie, because of that connection. Albeit the rock and roll part doesn't apply.
In retrospect that connection is probably why it wasn't used. So I keep hoping for "KISS" to be used in the "MCU" proper. 🤔

Well Meg, "Whosoever holds the hammer, if he be worthy" was the part why Odin sent the hammer away.
If it worked the intended way, not only would it temporarily depower a temperamental and vain Thor - if the Hammer finds a worthy replacement, Thor could see first hand how someone with his powers should behave.

Okay some real Norse mythology. Odin and Thor were both war gods. Thor was the protector of humankind. In a war he cared who was right, Odin just enjoyed the fight. Loki was not the adopted son of Odin, he was the blood brother. He was actually half god and half giant. Loffey was his mother. In the mythology 3 of Loki's children were The Frenris Wolf, The Midgard Serpent and Hel the goddess who ruled the dead. Odin and Loki were the only ones who knew what would happen during Ragnorak. Both Gungrir and Mjolnir were created by dwarves as a result of Loki's manipulstion. Sif and Thor were married. The gods were not all Aesir (which Odin was) but also Vanir. The Vanir were the more agricultural gods and the Aesir the war gods. They intermarried to stop the wars between them.

Mjølnir coming to Thor and him defeating the The Destroyer were such badass scenes. Loki was definitely one of the best parts of the movie for me. Being a Trickster God and how unpredictable he is. Also I can't with how adorable you guys are like during the intro and Jotunheim scene. "Can your hammer do that? Anything you can do I can do better Thor" 😂 I love your consant laughing Meg during Thor's awkward interactions with humans. I remember being confused when I first watched this with him acting like that but realized that he's a God and has never interacted with humans before so it makes sense but it's still funny. It is great that you have some level of sympathy towards Loki, because he really deserves it for some of the pain of his background... But in many aspects of what he does and who he is he doesn't deserve the sympathy; for example the reaction or treatment that he gets from Thor's friends, because they are Thor's friends and not really his': it is only hinted and poked at, but he is called the trickster god for a reason, and he has done a lot of things to mess with everybody growing up and specially to Sif; they don't like him for good reasons, they have no idea of his true parentage or any discrimination towards him other than the fact that Loki is kindof a dick, the consider him a prince and give him that status, but they don't like him.
So he gets a lot of sympathy and understanding for some of his feelings but for a lot of it he doesn't get any... His actions are his and nothing excuses them... Also I think you are indeed twisting some of Odin's actions, for example: His banishment of Thor; I think it was 100% the right thing to do, Thor started a war and his ego was increasing unchecked and Odin gave him the punishment that he needed, stripped him of his powers, gave him the humility of not being indestructible and he also put the "cure" for that powerlessness in reach of him if only he could learn humility and change his perspective... Also, the scene in the bridge with Odin holding unto Thor and Loki; I think you miss read that scene, Odin's "No" to Loki wasn't because he didn't forgive him for his actions or because he was casting him away with his disapproval, he said "no" after Loki let go of Thor and started falling, he was telling Loki "not" to let go and to let himself fall... Odin DID 100% made a lot of mistakes as a father, but he isn't an "evil father" or "abusive" towards his kids, most of the mistakes he made were out of love and him having to juggle raising them as kids but also members of the royal family and their duties to the realms... A lot of people like to blame absolutely everything on Odin without contextualizing his actions, and also in doing so excusing the actions of others like Thor and SPECIALLY Loki; and no, their actions are theirs and so are their mistakes.

Hey, Meg and Caleb! Thor was probably the trickiest character to translate but a critical character to make credible as Loki figures prominently in the Avengers' future. The approach to Thor early in the saga is a pseudo-Shakespearean representation as opposed to the more comedic interpretation of the later films. I much prefer serious Thor as he is much more comic book-authentic. I think "Thor" succeeds on every level and it is my favorite Phase 1 film! In the comics, Thor is the actual Norse God of Thunder but, in the MCU, he is a long-lived alien from planet Asgard whose people have been to Midgard (Earth) and thought of as gods.
Marvel's Thor was created in 1962 by writer Stan Lee and penciler Jack Kirby and was the lead feature in the anthology title "Journey into Mystery" until getting his own title. Lee needed someone who could hold his own against the Hulk. Since Hulk is the strongest there is, only a god would do. Comic readers were already familiar with the Greco-Roman pantheon which is practically the basis for the Justice League at DC so Lee decided to go Norse. Lee and Kirby were both familiar with Norse mythology and liked the Viking aesthetic so they ran with it. The sword and sorcery element was new to Marvel with Lee's plots and Kirby's drawings sweeping readers into cosmic high adventure balanced by Earthly concerns when Thor assumed his mortal guise of the crippled Dr. Donald Blake whose walking stick would transform into the hammer Mjolnir when struck hard against the ground. It was hotly debated for 76 issues whether Blake was a human who found the magic walking stick that filled him with Thor's spirit or if Thor was pretending to be a man when the matter was finally put to rest in issue 159 which is the basis for this film. To teach his arrogant son humility, Odin cast Thor out of Asgard to live as an infirm human with no memory of godhood but he unknowingly passes his father's test by becoming a compassionate doctor. His memory restored, Thor casts off the Blake identity and becomes Thor again full-time. The plot element of Loki being a Frost-Giant foundling adopted by Odin is from the gorgeous third volume of Thor written by J. Michael Straczynski, illustrated by Olivier Coipel and published in the 2000s. It is widely agreed that the 45-issues written and drawn by Walt Simonson in the '80's is gold standard "Thor" and essential reading since Simonson mined proper Norse mythology to plot his run on the book. All three key creators appear in cameos in the film. There is an element pulled from another version of Thor that plays a role in this movie. Marvel created a secondary universe in 2000 called the Ultimate Universe in order to boost readership by providing access to familiar characters without having to learn 40 years of back story. The MCU draws upon many Ultimate Universe details such as having an African-American rather than an Italian-American Nick Fury. Ultimate Thor is never believed to be a god and is thought of as insane which is how he is first received by everyone in the movie.
Kenneth Branagh was an inspired choice of director as he is known for his many Shakespeare productions and passion for the Bard. He infused the proceedings with gravitas that elevated the material and the characters echo of Prince Hal, Falstaff, Iago and Lear. The production design beautifully blends the divine, the medieval and the futuristic with Asgard's golden spires evoking heavenly Valhalla, the world's disc-like shape evoking a flat Earth of the Middle Ages and Heimdall's observatory evoking alien supertech that stabilizes wormholes accurately referred to as Einstein-Rosen bridges. The Bifrost itself isn't a rainbow but a crystal construct that shimmers prismatically. The Worlds Tree Yggdrasil is just a graphical representation of the nine planets accessible through the Asgardian wormhole. Although classified as planets in the film, they remain the Nine Realms of Norse myth which include Asgard, realm of the gods, Vanaheim, a fantasy realm of demi-gods, Midgard, home of humankind, Alfheim, home of the Elves, Svartalfheim, home of the Dark Elves, Jotunheim, home of the Frost-Giants, Nidavellir, home of the Dwarves, Muspelheim, the fiery realm of the demon Surtur and Niflheim, the icy realm of the Dead.
The cast is phenomenal! Chris Hemsworth was in contention with his brother Liam for the part and won it. He carries the character easily in both dramatic and comedic situations and it has become his signature role. Tom Hiddleston's casting as Loki was equally important because his role going forward in the saga would be crucial and his villainy would be layered. Branagh had worked with him before on the "Wallander" TV series and recommended him. Hiddleston owns the part and is a sheer delight; a relatable villain you simultaneously root for and hate! Anthony Hopkins is magnificent as Odin and he radiates majesty. The scene where he strips Thor of his power was completely ad-libbed and left the other actors shaken! Natalie Portman as Jane Foster was changed from a physician in the comics to an astrophysicist in the film but she always exudes intelligence and was credible. She and Hemsworth have great chemistry and their lust is palpable! Fine support is lent by Colm Feore as the sinister Laufey, Rene Russo as the nurturing Frigga, Idris Elba as the wise Heimdall, Stellan Skarsgard as the awestruck Dr. Erik Selvig, Kat Dennings as the snarky Darcy Lewis and Clark Gregg as the unflappable Son of Coul, Agent Phil Coulson. The comic-accurate Warriors Three are on hand as well with Ray Stevenson as burly Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as grim Hogun, Josh Dallas as dashing Fandral and Jaimie Alexander as bold Lady Sif. Jeremy Renner makes his first appearance as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, Maximiliano Hernandez makes his first movie appearance as Agent Jasper Sitwell and Samuel L. Jackson's Col. Nick Fury pops in with the Tesseract.
    TRIVIA:
    1. Mjolnir, the name of Thor's hammer which Darcy finds unpronounceable, translates as "Grinder" in English. In the comics, it is made from uru metal or the super-dense solidified molten core of a neutron star. As stars collapse upon themselves prior to going supernova, the cores become super-dense which accounts for Mjolnir's great weight. Only Odin's enchantment makes it portable by a pure soul.
    2. The New Mexico town is a set that was modernized after its previous use as a Western town in Lawrence Kasdan's "Silverado" in 1985!
    3. The events of "Iron Man 2", "The Incredible Hulk" and "Thor" all occur during one week in MCU-time called Fury's Big Week!
    EASTER EGGS:
    1. Odin's pet ravens Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory) alight on his throne during the coronation. The ravens are Odin's eyes and ears in his kingdom.
    2. Odin arrives on Jotunheim to rescue Thor and company astride his eight-legged horse Sleipnir!
    3. Odin's treasure room contains the Tuning Fork, the Tablet of Life and Time, the Warlock's Eye, the Eternal Flame, the Casket of Ancient Winters and a mock Infinity Gauntlet!
    4. The name tag and false ID given to Thor bear the name of his comic book alter-ego Donald Blake!
    5. A sign advertising New Mexico tourism says 'Journey into Mystery' which was the title of the comic in which Thor debuted!
    6. The 10th-century Norwegian village assaulted by the Frost-Giants in flashback is Tonsberg which is featured in the World War II setting of "The First Avenger".
    7. The colleague Selvig refers to who was studying gamma radiation can only be Bruce Banner!
    CAMEOS:
The three seminal writers of Thor appear in cameo!
    1. Stan Lee is the pick-up driver who tries to wrench the hammer free with his truck only to lose the flatbed.
    2. Walter Simonson is seen in Asgard at the closing celebratory banquet between Sif and Volstagg.
    3. J. Michael Straczynski is the first local seen in close-up trying to pull the hammer out of the crater.
    END-CREDIT SCENE:
    1. Nick Fury presents the Tesseract to Dr. Selvig for study at Project Pegasus. If you see the movies chronologically, this is the third time it appears. If you see the movies in release order, this is your first glimpse of this artifact.
The next chronological stop in the MCU are the framing scenes of "Captain America: The First Avenger" which take place in 2011.

I like to call this the Thor's "R" Us Kid Movie...since Thor was acting like a kid kicking and crying in the middle of the aisle when the Parent refused to get them a Toy that cost way too much money 🤣🤣

Unfortunately this was the only good MCU Thor film. The Dark World had really generic villains in Malekith and the Dark Elves with the only good parts being Thor and Loki working together. And by Thor Ragnarok the MCU was in its still ongoing "ruin serious moments like injuries, torture, kidnappings and deaths with bad jokes and puns" phase leading to Thor apparently finding Hela and Surtr destroying Asgard, his home funny. And in Love and Thunder he thinks his ex Jane dying of cancer is a right old side splitter. Gorr the God Butcher planning to kill kids is treated as no big deal and MCU Gorr is basically what would happen if in the Greek God of War games Ares tricking Kratos into killing his wife Lysandra and daughter Calliope had been played for laughs.

It's a shame that it takes 2 more movies, but we do eventually get an explanation as to why Odin is so stern with his 2 sons. Just got to sit through one of the worst Marvel movies, Thor 2, to get to what many consider to be the best one: Thor Ragnarok.
