Hi Erin- can a client ask me to do a background check?
Yes, they can. It's also rare but it does happen, particularly w/ larger coporate clients. I worked for a director at Ericsson once and they wanted to mandate a drug test and background check. I pushed back quite a bit because as a freelance business owner, we don't legally have to follow their corporate rules. They eventually told me "fine"
